Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I would like to say hello, and that I look forward to adding what talent I can to this game to make an enjoyable collaboration we can all enjoy.

Since this game is about super heroes and villains, I thought I'd share some trivia I recently learned; the look of the Joker was taken from a German film entitled 'The Man Who Laughs' made in 1928. Just the look of him, the homicidal maniac aspect was original to the comic character I believe. The things you find out on Youtube when you're supposed to be productive, right?

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

That's pretty amazing! I wonder what other sources of inspirations the golden age creators used. From what I've heard, they pulled from a variety of sources!

Also, I'm kind of a pop-culture information addict myself. Did you know Mr. Sinister from the X-Men was planned to be a child mutant with transformation abilities that could never grow up? That's why he was supposed to have the kind of childish superhero name, the very stereotypically "evil" look, and the like.

As for the game, I'm going on a hike with my friends, then going to work tonight, so I might not be on much today. However, I think the other two players will respond today, so maybe I can get them into the game soon.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I admit that's one bit of trivia I didn't know, score one for you! I do however know that the appearance of John Constantine was modeled after the singer Sting.

Anymore, I work up a sweat just hiking up my socks, but you have fun.:)

I had no idea for that. One point to you.

It was a lot of fun. And a lot of hard work. I'm just checking in before work; I'll try and respond to at least one of the messages before I go. But rest assured, I will get to all of your messages!

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Alright, we've got four players in the game so far (and a couple more on their way). How do you all feel we should start this? Would you like me to create a single "Issue 1" thread that contains all the posts for a while and just have you all list your characters' locations at the top of your posts? Or would you rather I create a few threads representing one of a few locations you can start in?

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I've always liked separate threads for separate locations myself. It just seems cleaner, but I don't mind either way.

Separate threads to me would be less cluttered, but I too am good with whatever you decide Scripts.

Alright. I'll give the other players a chance to offer their take on this, then we'll get things started!

Scripts, I've noticed you use exclamation points a good deal. Might I suggest trying decaf.?:P

First location is up. Will try and create three more by tomorrow morning. That should give everyone enough room to begin the game.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Hey all!

I'm looking forward to writing with y'all, there's some interesting characters in the careers page and I look forward to see how we all get along (or rather, how we don't :D).

Edit: As far as threads are concerned I'm not so sure. On the one hand dividing us up right off the bat will mean that things will start off pretty quiet, but at the same time throwing heroes and villains at each other on the first round might be a rough start.
All considered I would suggest splitting into a few starting threads but giving the option to explore reasonably quickly, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I was hoping Spurt was cause some trouble right away. Cimmeria could act as survelliance and gather Intel if ITSDA or any of the rogue heroes showed up. Just a thought. I can really work with any.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I just read up on the new locations, and something occurred to me about Boura. Did any of you see the original Star Trek episode where the crew find two men alive on a planet that's completely covered in the ruins of cities and such? The two survivors looked identical, with one half of their face black and the other white; but it was reversed between them, on the side one was white the other was black and vice versa. They wanted to kill each other over that simple fact, and they both teleporters back down to their ghost town of a planet to finish a war that had taken everything but their hate. Boura reminded me of their home world and the Gifted mentioned those two men.

Don't mind me, just spouting idle thoughts good for only small talk and game shows.:P

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

"You're dead you half-white!" "I'll take you with me, you half-black!"
Great episode. The original series was fantastic for absurdly over the top episodes; like how they encountered deep-space Nazis three or four times.

That said, I think I'll like Boura. Seems like the kind of place I'd find useful.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Everyone is welcome to begin the in-character posts now; I have written the first roleplaying post in the "New York City" thread. You may start the game in whichever of the four location threads you prefer. If you want to start in a different location, PM me and I'll draft the thread.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Hello y'all!  I have seen that Trek episode the first time it was run!  Yes, indeed I am that old.  And I would like to forewarn everyone that I an legally blind and too eager to post sometimes, so if you see a whole slew of typos, just rattle my cage and holler "What are ya, blind?"  LOL

Hello to BLack Magic!  Long time old son!  It will be good to game with you again!

And I also prefer seperate threads but will go with the will of the group and The Powers That Be.

Peace and roses,
Ma Nature

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

I should have my non-canon post up by tomorrow morning. Though it's more of me writing a post of Spurt and Magic fighting with Cimmeria observing, haha.

I wish you better luck than myself, Cimmeria. I didn't realize just how rough my post was until I took the time now to review it. Well, that's what I get for being in a rush I suppose.:P

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

My post is done, and, hopefully, we'll have someone to review the three posts by tonight or tomorrow. I hope you two enjoy your first taste of this game's battle system; I know I did.

P.S. Homer, you're free to edit your post until everyone has turned theirs in. It looks good and solid to me, but, if you want to edit it, I won't keep you from doing so.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Your posts are leagues above what I had scribbled down. Seeing as it's mainly a battle between Spurt and Magic i could select the canon post. My character was wasn't affected negatively either way so I don't mind.

Re: Editor's Room (OOC Chat)

Hello again!  I just answered a private message about choosing the canon!  HEH!  There are many old farts in Literature Depts. across the nation rollingin their graves whether they are dead or not!  Out with Melville!  In with genre fiction!   ...  Oops, got a bit giddy at the thought!

Peace and roses, Ma Nature
