Xavier gave him a look. "Firstly, you came here already with the king's blessings to wed her. Plus, while yes, she is beautiful, she is a commoner with even lesser beginnings than you had."

"She's too beautiful to be just human... She looks like a goddess." Wulfsen said.

Xavier shook his head, smiling. "A warrior goddess, considering the plating on that dress. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was jealous."

Sileas gave him a small shy smile as she and her father neared him.

"She's so beautiful she can marry anyone she chose. SOmeone even better than me- What if she changes her mind right here and now?" Wulfsen whispered to Xavier. His heart was beating so hard he was sure that Sileas could hear it.

"If she was going to change her mind, she would have done it last night instead of listening to Yehudit and returning. Besides...I suspect she's just as nervous as you and might be thinking she's not good enough for you."

Re: The Keep - Main Hall
Sileas stared at Wulfsen, her husband to be. Her hand tightened around her father's arm. "Papa. I'm not good enough for him. Look at him. He is the son of a king and I'm....I'm....a street rat. I mean, I was a street brat. I don't know anything about being a proper lady. It's not fair to him to be saddled with me for a wife."

Re: The Keep - Main Hall
Shawn studied his daughter. He expressly noticed signs of anxiety and the look of someone about to run and hide. "Sileas, the man loves you. He came here intending to wed you, he already had his father's permission. He had already made his choice. Your background does not matter to him, and your mother and aunts...er...Aunt Aislyn can help with teaching you what you need to know about being a lady. Perhaps Aalyssa as well, once she feels comfortable being social again. She was a princess. But for now..." He started walking toward Wulfsen and Xavier. Sileas would either have to follow or find herself being dragged in public. "For now, let's get you wed."

An unruly red curl popped free. "I can't, Papa. I'm...I'm not princess material!" She dragged her feet.

Wulfsen began panicking again.

"Xavier- I think she's realized it- she's going to run!"

"I think she's scared, not thinking you're not good enough for her. Go to her!" Xavier compelled. "Go!"

"He's not drunk, is he, Papa?" Sileas asked wide eyed. She couldn't remember ever seeing him move in such a manner.

"Oy, please stand up, Wulfsen," Sileas said. "Are you certain you want a woman who is not ladylike? I mean, look, I've already had one curl pop free and Mama just did my hair half an hour ago. You remember I was a street rat, right?"

"You're absolutely positive. You won't resent me if I do something ridiculously stupid because I don't know how to be a lady?" Her voice dropped. "I'm scared I'll embarrass you. You're the son of a king, after all. And I'm...well...I'm me."

"You still grew up in the palace. I grew up filthy and unwanted until I was twelve. And when I finally had a family, I was more interested in exploring and adventuring than anything lady-like." Tears pooled in her eyes. "I'm frightened that you will come to resent me and leave me some day."
