Aron shrugged. "I'm not sure I can explain it, but it's supposed to keep bad, uninvited elements out of here so the wedding is peaceful."

Sileas smiled up at Wulfsen. She couldn't believe they were about to be finally wed. She slipped her hand into his.

"Magic?!" Liadan bristled. "Can we get out with that up? Are our children trapped in here?"

Wulfsen rubbed the back of Sileas's hand with his thumb.

Aron shrugged lightly. "It would be better than some demon getting in here. And if we absolutely needed out due to an emergency, Bai could lower it."

Sileas leaned into him and sighed happily.

Dyfrig, lurking quietly near the door to the kitchen, looked puzzled.

"Would he? Maybe he means to take our children prisoner!" Liadan fretted.

Ila had come up to ask Dyfrig about putting the sauce on one of the dishes, when the barrier sprang up right behind her. She jumped.

"What was that?" She asked.

"Why on earth would he do that?"

Slightly confused himself by the barrier, the priest cleared his throat and began speaking.

"We have come together here in celebration of the joining together of Sileas Spenser and Wulfsen Thornblade. There are many things to say about marriage. Much wisdom concerning the joining  together of two souls, has come our way through all paths of  belief, and from many cultures. With each union, more knowledge is gained and more wisdom gathered. Though we are unable to give all this knowledge to these two, who stand before us, we can hope to leave with them the knowledge of love and its strengths and the anticipation of the wisdom that comes with time. The law of life is love unto all beings. Without love, life is nothing, without love, death has no redemption. Love is anterior to Life, posterior to Death, initial of Creation and the exponent of Earth. If we learn no more in life, let it be this.

"Marriage is a bond to be entered into only after considerable thought and reflection. As with any aspect of life, it has its cycles, its ups and its downs, its trials and its triumphs. With full understanding of this, Wulfsen and Sileas have come here today to be joined as one in marriage. Others would ask, at this time, who gives the bride in marriage, but, as a woman is not property to be bought and sold, given and taken, I ask simply if she comes of her own will and if she has her family's blessing.

"Sileas, is it true that you come of your own free will and accord?"

"Why do any evil momzers do these kinds of things?" Liadan hissed in a low voice to Aron.

"I, Sileas, come in my own free will and accord to wed the man that I love." She glanced over to Shawn and Brighid, "As well, I Have the blessings of my parents."

The Priest turned to Wulfsen. "Wulfsen, is it true that you come of your own free will and accord?"

"I don't think he's evil. Now, shhh, the ceremony has begun."

In reply to Sileas Spenser (msg # 989):

"Oh yes I do." Wulfsen grinned, she hadn't changed her mind! This was happening! "I mean, I come here of my own free will and accord."

Not very formal, but it worked.

"Repeat after me;" The priest spoke slowly. "I, Wulfsen Thornblade, in the name of the spirit of God that   resides within us all, by the life that courses within my blood and the love that resides within my heart, take thee Sileas to my hand, my heart, and my spirit, to be my chosen one. To desire thee and be desired by thee, to possess thee, and be possessed by thee, without sin or shame, for naught can exist in the purity of my love for thee. I promise to love thee wholly and completely without restraint, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in poverty, in life and beyond, where we shall meet, remember, and love again. I shall not seek to change thee in any way. I shall respect thee, thy beliefs, thy people, and thy ways as I respect myself."

The priest took in the beaming expressions on the bride and groom. He glanced at the Spensers, and Shawn affirmed that the marriage indeed had their blessings.

"Do you Wulfsen, take Sileas, as your wife. To hold and to cherish, to honor and love, in sickness and in health, until the end of your days?

"Yeah." Wulfsen stumbled over the wording, but mostly got it right. "I, Wulfsen Thornblade, in the name of the spirit of God that   resides within us all, by the life that courses within my blood and the love that resides within my heart, take thee Sileas to- Sileas Spenser- to my hand, my heart, and my spirit, to be my chosen one. To desire y-thee and be desired by thee, to possess thee, and be possessed by thee, without sin or shame, for it can't exist in the purity of my love for thee. I promise to love thee wholly and completely without restraint, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in poverty, in life and beyond, where we shall meet, remember, and love again. I shall not seek to change thee in any way. I shall respect thee, thy beliefs, thy people, and thy ways as I respect myself."

Sileas had been rehearsing the ceremony in her mind and heart, since Wulfsen asked her. "I do," she replied with a smile meant just for Wulfsen, that sparkled in her eyes.  "I, Sileas Spenser, in the name of the spirit of God that resides within us all, by the life that courses within my blood and the love that resides within my heart, take thee Wulfsen Thornblade to my hand, my heart, and my spirit, to be my chosen one. To desire thee and be desired by thee, to possess thee, and be possessed by thee, without sin or shame, for it can't exist in the purity of my love for thee. I promise to love thee wholly and completely without restraint, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in poverty, in life and beyond, where we shall meet, remember, and love again. I shall not seek to change thee in any way. I shall respect thee, thy beliefs, thy people, and thy ways as I respect myself."

"With the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. May your love so endure that its flame remains a guiding light unto you." The priest said.

Wulfsen's grin widened. He wrapped his arms around Sileas and kissed her passionately.

Sileas wrapped her arms around Wulfsen's neck, kissing him back with equal fervor. Her entire body thrummed with happiness.

Shawn had pulled Brie close to him when he spotted her crying. He was just as happy for their daughter as she was. Shawn kissed her temple as he held her.
