"Can you please check on her? Maybe Difyr missed something, and Pinja is afraid of me." Lek pleaded.

"You must promise to not tell Lord Thornblade that I moved from this spot. My being here is very conditional," she said. Aislyn stood. "Help your father eat." Then she walked over to Pinja and Millie. She knelt. "Hello, Pinja."

"Hello." Pinja weakly greeted, sipping on the ginger tea.

"Are you doing any better?" she inquired gently. "Feeling stronger?"

Pinja shrugged. "It's hard to keep anything down."

"Is it from your injuries? Or has Difyr discovered it's from something else? Are you ill?"

Pinja looked away, her pale face growing slightly pink. "Something else."

Aislyn noticed Millie lightly touching her stomach and she instantly understood. "Well I'm sure that will pass. I'll let you get back to your tea."

"I hope so." Pinja said in a small voice. She remembered what Millie had said about her mother getting sick when she was pregnant and wondered if Mrs Gerthrim knew.

"If you need anything, anything at all, I'll be right over there."

"Thank you." Pinja said quietly, but had no plans of ever bothering Mrs Gerthrim so soon after getting her husband and daughter back.

Aislyn returned to Lek and Nelek.

"Can you do anything?" Lek asked his mother worriedly.

"She will be fine, there's nothing to worry about."

"But she can't keep food down, how can she be okay?" Lek asked. "Did you find out what's wrong with her?"

"Yes, but it is not for me to tell. Just believe me, it shall pass."

Lek gave his mother puppy dog eyes, trying to pry the information from her.

"Don't you give me that look, I'm not telling."

Lek began tearing up again. "You're not telling me because it's something really bad, isn't it?"

"No, it's nothing bad, I promise you."

"It has to be... She looks so weak." It slowly dawned on Lek. "Oh, those bastards." He said in a low, angry voice. He glanced over at Pinja.

"But they are bastards." Lek said in that same low, angry voice. "They cut her up, cut up her face, and I suspected but now I know they forced themselves on her. They got her pregnant, didn't they?"

"Young men still don't use such language." Aislyn sighed. "Don't let her know you know."

"If I don't let her know what can I do?" Lek asked.
