"Millie, if we don't get him off that island soon he's never going to be in any kind of condition to deal with anything." Lek said.

"Lek, I'm not like Sileas, Yehudit or Questa. There's not an adventuresome bone in my body and you know it."

"Neither am I, but we both love Papa." Lek said.

"I know, but what if there is danger?" Millie shook her head. "You need our cousins more than me. They know what to do when there's danger."

Lek shook his head. "I need you, you're half of me. And even though they love Papa they don't love him as much as us."

"But what good do we do Papa if we go out hunting and get ourselves killed? What will happen to Mama if she loses us too?"

"She won't lose us, we'll be careful." Lek said. "But Mama needs him, you've seen how unhappy she's been ever since Papa changed."

"I know. Bringing him home will bring happiness to many people."

"See? So we have to save him." Lek said.

"You have to save him. You need a good group of people who can fight, who are strong. I've never been strong. I'd rather hide than fight."

"I need you. I don't have the same connection with anyone else." Lek insisted.

"I can't do it, Lek. I'm sorry but I can't go with you."

"I can't do it without you." Lek said.

"I'll be with you in spirit, but I can't go with you. I would just be a hindrance to it. I'm not the person to help. I have no skills that will help."

"No, I need you." Lek said stubbornly.

"Stop pushing me Lek!" Millie shouted, nearly screaming. She got a wild look in her eyes and ran off from him.

"Millie!" Lek cried. He was lost without his twin sister.

Millie ran and ran. She only stopped when, in the unfamiliar terrain, her foot caught on a raised tree root and she tumbled forward and down a deep enbankment. Millie lay at the base, sprawled out.

Mazi looked down at the girl. Well, this made things easier. He grabbed Millie by the arm.

Millie moaned slightly. Her head ached even with the slightest of movements. Blood trickled down behind her ear.

Mazi tied Millie's hands behind her back with some convenient green vines growing nearby.

As consciousness slowly came back, Millie noticed she was unable to move her hands. She carefully moved her head and screamed.

Mazi slapped her across the face. "Shut up you stupid girl!"

Millie glared. Wait, hadn't Sileas, Yehudit and Questa followed her outside? They had probably backed off when they saw Lek meet up with her. Millie took a deep breath and screamed "QUESTA!!!!!"

"Woss this, isit? Some big loser slappin' 'round the weak girl?" Questa muttered, not happy. She burst from the undergrowth, swinging her weighted sock at the merman's crotch.
