"I'm not letting go until he's in the shackles. I trust him as far as I can throw him," Sileas replied.

Wulfsen had shackles and chains on his belt. He gingerly knelt to chain Mazi's ankles together.

Sileas kept a stern eye on Mazi. "Tell us where Nelek is. Please," she added on a whisper.

"He's as good as dead!" Mazi taunted.

"Then it would be no betrayal to your "king" to tell us where we can retrieve Nelek's body. At least let his family have that."

"The gulls can have him." Mazi said coldly.

Sileas growled angrily and brought the hilt of her dagger toward his head.

Mazi was knocked out cold.

Sileas wanted to scream. She stood up, so angry she was visibly shaking.

Liadan was shaking with anger too. "Now why couldn't I cut him up? To get him to talk?"

Xavier and the knights who had followed skidded to a halt. "Where's...What's....?"

Wulfsen slowly stood up.

"He is one of the mermen." Wulfsen said. "We have to make sure he doesn't get away this time."

"The problem was when he grew and the shackles needed adjusting." Xavier studied the problem. "We have the dungeon of course. Maybe several sets of chains of various looseness to accommodate when he changes size."

"However he got loose, it can't happen again." Wulfsen gestured to his men to pick up Mazi. He gave Sileas a worried look. "Were you hurt?"

Sileas shook her head. "No, I'm not injured. I'm just angry beyond belief that he wouldn't give us anything on where Uncle Nelek is. He's just a nasty little momzer. Questa may have been injured though, when he threw himself down on his back, he tried his best to land on her. And Yehudit. Where's Yehudit?"

Yehudit was very upset that her father did not let her help Sileas.

"SILEAS!" Yehudit screamed.

"Yehudit's in trouble! There must be another merman in the area!" Sileas wasted no time in pulling an arrow from her quiver. She headed in the direction of her cousin's scream.

Liadan tore through the trees and pounced on Aron.

Aron howled as Lia knocked him off his feet. All the air left him as his back hit the ground.

"Aron?" Fortunately Liadan recognized Aron before she could injure him further. She got off her husband. "Why are you carrying Yehudit?"

"Because she was sitting in harm's way. I didn't even see her walking stick but I doubt she would have gone willingly with me," Aron explained, sitting up and brushing leaves off his tunic.

Yehudit scowled. "I wasn't sitting in harm's way. I was helping Sileas."

Aron scowled. "If that merman had gotten away from Sileas and Questa, you were a sitting duck for him to grab, Yehudit Buckley." Anger was obvious in his voice and it was straining with his fight against yelling at her. If they would have been at home, he might have put her over his knee for her actions.

Liadan was angry too.

"I've had enough of this- you're grounded!" No telling how that would be enforced, it wasn't exactly like they had a home for Yehudit to stay in. But the thought of Yehudit carried off by a merman terrified Liadan. "Aron can you carry Yehudit back to the keep?"

"I can." He got to his feet and scooped Yehudit up. "We'll see you there. I'm going to block our room's door somehow, so knock when you get there."
