Liadan kissed Ertzel's forehead.

A sniffle escaped before Ertzel could stop it.

Liadan cradled Vikki on a hip and wrapped her free arm around Ertzel. "There there..."

Ertzel sighed deeply.

A tear slipped down Liadan's cheek. She knew she and Aron had to have a talk, work this out. Otherwise the children would suffer and Liadan could not stand that.

Ertzel turned and fussed over one of the smaller children.

Liadan set Vikki next to her sister, then went up to help Aron with the horses. "We need to talk."

Aron set his jaw and squared his shoulders. "No."

_{"If you won't talk I will punch you."} Liadan said in a low voice. "Don't you see what this is doing to our children? Ertzel is trying to hide it but she's crying, Vikki was crying, the other ones must be upset too. Tearing the family part will hurt our children the most."

If you punch me, I'll have them throw you back in the dungeon. "I will speak with the children and try to make them understand." He started helping the children out of the wagon.

_{"Damnit Aron, don't you care about our family not falling apart at all?"} Liadan hised in his ear, exasperated.

"I'm trying to save our family. You keep going out making enemies to come after them." He herded the children toward the main building.

"The mermomzers have been my enemies since before we were courting." Liadan said. "Damnit Aron, you will talk to me!"

Aron continued his walk in silence.

"Ertzel- take the kids to Aunt Aislyn- she's in the healing room." Liadan said, glaring at Aron.

"Yes, Mama." Ertzel gathered the little ones, grabbing Vikki up in her arms."

Liadan waited for the children to be out of view, then she caught up to Aron and punched him in the shoulder.

Aron silently picked up his speed.

Liadan swore and tackled Aron, her arms around his waist.

"Dammit, Lia, let go!" Aron demanded crossly.

"Not until we've talked." Liadan said, squeezing Aron tight. She noticed that he was a bit wider than when they were newlyweds.

"There's nothing to talk about."

"Aron, our family if falling apart- we have things to talk about!" Liadan said.

"Our family isn't falling apart, it's already broken. There's not enough talking in the world to fix it."

"I'm not giving up on it- we can work things out somehow." Liadan said. "We have to talk if we're going to fix this."
