"He can give his followers powers and twists them." Bai said.

"I'm not sure he had too much to do to control Galina. My understanding is that Aunt Aislyn fired her for the horrible way she was treating people at the inn."

"Followers choose to follow him." Bai said. "Molech's children though..." Bai shuddered.

Sileas bit her lip. "So what do we do? I don't want Mama and Papa having anything to do with this."

"Molech will want his child." Bai said. "I don't know if your parents would want to get involved... It will have a dangerous temper, rage, be lustful, destructive."

"I will have to warn them. I can only hope I can get them to believe me about this," Sileas said. She got to her feet and paced.

"We'll have to see if there's anything helpful in the books." Bai said.

"All right." She thought for a moment. "That description sounds like my cousin too," she admitted. "Though I'm not sure I'd say she's destructive. Accident prone, but not destructive."

"Cousin?" Bai raised an eyebrow.

"Not by blood of course, since I was adopted. But Yehudit, Aunt Lia's eldest. She has uncontrollable rages that no one can do anything about. And I suppose her constant desire to see men without their shirts could be called lustful. Sort of. Galina had said Yehudit and I were both created to destroy the family. But I'm thinking whatever attempt she made with she who gave birth to me failed. I was able to fight her when she tried to control me but Yehudit? Not so much."

"She's the one Althea wanted to go away?" Bai asked.

"Yes. The pendant...Althea....kept knocking her away. Like she was protecting me."

"Her parents are your Aunt Lia- and?" Bai asked.

"Truthfully, she doesn't know. Aunt Lia will hate me forever for telling you this, but she had been attacked, and it resulted in Yehudit. Uncle Aron is the only father she's ever known though, and he loves her like his own."

"So, she's a child of Molech too." Bai said, shoving his hair out of his face. "And you, what was your mother?"

"I've never considered her my mother, but she was just a tavern wench who never wanted to be saddled with a child. She hated her life, and my existence just seemed to make it worse."

"But biologically she's your mother as much as Kegan was your father." Bai said. "If she was one of Molech's followers... What messed up situation is this?"

"She didn't seem to have any sort of belief system that I could see. She was...well...a drudge. She was just miserable with her life and let everyone she had contact with know it. I think she was just used like Aunt Lia was, but it didn't take."

Bai did not like the idea of a Lowell being a child of Molech.

"Great."

"Would Althea have actively tried to protect me if I was a child of Molech? She certainly went after Yehudit, but refuses to allow me to remove the pendant."

"Your father was a Lowell." Bai said.

"You seemed concerned over she who gave birth to me. On my side I guess is the fact that I was able to fight Galina's control and the only time I ever get truly angry is when someone I care about is in danger. I'm not prone to rages and the like and I don't think that I'm lustful."

"Hopefully you aren't one of Molech's, already too many Molech's children around here." Bai said.

"Let's hope it's limited to two. Is there any way to help Yehudit and the babe?"

"I'll see what's in the books. " Bai said.
