"Thank you." Lek said. There was much longing in his eyes. "She didn't feel up to coming to the feast today?"

Millie shook her head. "No, and I tried so hard. I think it would be better for her if she gets out of the room for a bit."

Millie was quiet for a moment. She wasn't at all certain that she liked that Lek was learning to  fight nor that it would be a comfort to Pinja.

"Hmm? Oh, I'm just thinking that Pinja would associate learning to fight and the violence Jack inflicted on her."

"But... I can't defend her if I don't know how to fight." Lek's heart sunk. Everything he did was wrong. "What do I do? I would never harm her. I won't even touch her if she doesn't want me to... and she doesn't want me near her so I don't touch her."

"It really is a no win situation when it comes to Pinja. If you like what you are doing, do it for you," Millie urged him.

Lek thought for a moment. "Maybe Pinja should learn to fight. Maybe if she can defend herself she won't be so afraid."

Millie was thoughtful for a moment. "I will talk to Sileas about it once Pinja's stronger. Once I know Sileas would teach her, I could talk to Pinja about it."

Lek nodded. He would teach her everything he has learned himself, but knew Pinja would be too afraid of him. Sileas would be a perfect teacher. Lek managed to smile.

Sileas happened to hear Lek's comment. "It's part of the process. I certainly blamed myself during my year of seclusion. I not only hid due to fear, but also shame."

"Of course not!" Lek sputtered. "Andy was evil, just like Jack and his family. You didn't deserve it either."

"I think you said exactly what you meant to the first time." She had never been close to Lek and Millie but she couldn't believe Lek thought she had done something wrong to cause Andy to attack her. "I guess you think I should have just accepted his courtship when it was offered."

"No- why would I even think that? Andy was cruel and evil. Yehudit is still crippled by what he did to her ankle. Andy didn't deserve you, he should never have been around any woman." Lek was appalled.
