"Realist." Wulfsen said. "You stand a better chance of Sileas falling in love with you than I do."

"I am not the type of man she needs or wants. I have never deluded myself into thinking I had a chance with her. Give it time and let nature take its course. I'm willing to wager you will earn her heart."

"I hope you aren't gambling away too much coin on that." Wulfsen said.

"Hmm. Well there is the need to take in account the things that she has been through, which may leave her unable to consider anything but friendship with anyone at this point. A beau and a betrothed both lost violently? Even I would be loathe to attempt to move on with anyone."

"So it'll never happen." Wulfsen said unhappily.

"I never said that. I just think the right man, the man who truly wants her and deserves he heart and love, will be patient and will find a way through whatever walls she builds up to protect herself. Kind of like Shawn did with Mrs. Spenser. He never gave up. Neither should you."

"She's the only girl for me. But it's never going to happen now. I should have spoke up sooner." Wulfsen slumped.

"I never knew you could tell the future, Wulfsen. But you're right, if you're going to just give up without even trying, she won't be yours. And you know what," he said, getting to his feet. "If you give up without a fight, you don't deserve her. You're being just like that first guy who left her, the one told her she wasn't worth fighting for. I'm going outside with the men." Xavier left the kitchen.

Wulfsen scowled. He wanted to pursue Sileas, but he thought it wrong so soon after her betrothed's death. And after making a fool of himself.

Wulfsen could not sleep now.

After leaving the twins off at the room, Aislyn headed down to the kitchen to see if she could find something she could put some water in for the morning. As she walked, she was on the look out for Wulfsen or Xavier.

Wulfsen was trying and failing to sleep. He blinked at Mrs Buckley.

Aislyn didn't see Wulfsen at first as she headed into the food prep area to see if there were any bowls or a bucket. Anything she could use. She sighed with frustration and turned. Aislyn jumped when she spotted someone sitting there then relaxed. "Good eve, Lord Thornblade," she greeted with a curtsy.

Wulfsen was too tired to tell Mrs Buckley to not call him Lord Thornblade.

"Good evening, can I help you?" Wulfsen asked.

"I, uhm, was just looking for something to put some water in to take to our room. For the morning. I also wanted to let you know that Shawn Spenser seems to be missing." She opened one of the cabinets to look for a container.

"He's not with his wife?" Wulfsen asked.

"No. Difyr said he and Aron had left while she was treating Brie, and Difyr thought he was just giving them space but he's been gone a while now. They could be just sitting somewhere and talking of course, but I...it just doesn't seem like Shawn. He loves Brie and the girls more than life itself. But I know he was already blaming himself for Sileas being injured by Andy a second time because he couldn't find him. Never mind that Shawn himself was badly injured at the time of the first attack." Aislyn sighed. "I just hope he didn't go off to do something foolish."

"Shawn has never been reckless like that." Wulfsen said, yawning. He pulled off his cloak and stood up. "I'll go look for him."

"I know you're tired and I really do hate to ask it of you. But after all that has happened over the past two years, this might have been the thing to make him break.

"I was having trouble getting to sleep anyways." Wulfsen headed out of the kitchen to look for Shawn.

"Thank you, Lord Thornblade. I pray I am worrying over nothing and you find him talking somewhere with my brother."

Questa was the first one in the kitchen that morning- because she had spent the night sleeping in a cabinet. It had been an educational night. Questa helped herself to some food before anyone showed up to start preparing breakfast, and headed off to find Sileas.

"MIllie- I think I smell bacon!" Lek said excitedly.

In his corner, Wulfsen hunched his shoulders over his ears and tried to catch a few more minutes of sleep.

"That would be a good start." Aislyn began going through the things that Questa and brought back from the village. They were on the counters and not put away, so it made it easy. "It's a shame we don't have any eggs," she said, finding a bag of oats. At least she could make a type of oatmeal and hopefully there was enough bacon for all.

Wulfsen peeked out from behind his cloak.

"Good morning."
