"Those idiots can't read." Liadan said.

"I'm certain some can. Enough to keep spreading the word."

"Then I guess I just have to kill them all." Liadan said.

"And then you'll be in the dungeon along with Aislyn," Brie pointed out. "Your children need you."

"Ais is in the healing room with Nelek now." Liadan said. "Her kids need her too."

Brie was surprised. "Oh? Of course they do, but yours are younger for the most part. I don't think I could handle having both my best friends in trouble at the same time."

"Yehudit is older than the twins, Ertzel isn't much younger than the twins. Kadelyn is younger than most of my children." Liadan said.

"But Kadelyn didn't make it out of the inn, just like her other young siblings."

"Kadey's alive. We found her in the ruins. Kid managed to survive on her own all this time." Liadan said.

Brie stared in disbelief.

"It's true." Liadan said. "See for yourself if you have to."

"I would, but I have to get the evening meal ready for so many. With no help."

Liadan scowled. "Surely someone was helping you and Ais all this time."

"Ila was. But these bigots ran her off. Or have attempted to. She was getting very upset so Sileas took her somewhere. But that is what instigated all of this. They don't want Ila in the kitchen because they are so judgmental. They don't want to allow her a new chance and they don't want her in the kitchen."

"That poor girl looked younger than my Yehudit, how much trouble could she be?" Liadan asked.

"Not that I care, but Ila used to work at the Crimson Dove. Several of the agitating men obviously cheated on their wives and knew her from there. They've created a mob mentality."

"The Crim- that place is a brothel." Liadan looked sick and angry. "She's practically a child. We should round up those momzers and $%%*(# their @&*()$ off."

"I can't believe their wives stood behind them instead of beating them silly."

"Brie would have had my head," Shawn offered, wishing someone would go find Wulfsen or Xavier.

"Damn right I would have."

"Why weren't all of them arrested for it?" Liadan demanded.

"Unfortunately, spreading rumors isn't an arrestable offense. And I turned in my resignation before I came here." He glanced at Brie. "Sorry, sweetheart, it isn't how I wanted to tell you."

"They should all be in jail for doing things to Ila." Liadan said angrily.

"I wish they could be, but the Crimson Dove is in Portside. Their guard would have to handle it unless Wulfsen chooses to. I doubt he knows of it yet."

"Excuses." Liadan said in disgust.

Shawn rolled his eyes. "Well if no one is going for help, I'm going to take this one to the dungeon. I'm tired of holding him."
