"I still want to help her." Lek said softly. "I just want to talk to her for a little while. I won't get close or touch her."

Millie didn't appear to be too certain it was a good idea. "I think you should wait until she's stronger," she finally said.

"If I could just talk to her..." Lek said.

"Ultimately it's your choice. I'm just telling you I don't think it's a good idea."

"It's a good idea." Lek said. "I'd like to talk to her later today if she's okay with it."

"You'll have to ask Difyr. It's not up to me."

"I want to help her." Lek said, slightly hurt.

"I know you do. I'm just afraid it's too soon after what she's been through. You could hurt her instead of help her."

"The sooner I help her the better." Lek said.

Millie started at him, surprised at how selfish her twin could be.

Lek blinked, startled at Millie's own reaction. "What?"

In reply to Lek Gerthrim (msg # 917):

"I never realized before how selfish you are," Millie admitted.

"I... I didn't think I was being selfish to want to help her." Lek said.

"It is when you don't consider her needs. All you see is your desire to help her. Which in itself is all right but Pinja is terrified of men. Terrified."

"She didn't used to be afraid of me." Lek said. "I used to visit you and her all the time."

"What Jack  and his family did to her the night of the raid broke something inside of her. She needs to heal, both physically and mentally."

"I just want to help her." Lek said sadly. "I'd never hurt her, I won't even touch her. I just want to talk to her."

"I know you wouldn't. But I can tell you how much it hurts to even think about going to Papa after being attacked by someone that looked like him. What Jack did to Pinja makes that pain a hundred fold."

"I'll stand as far away as she needs me to." Lek said.

Millie sighed and got more bread. "Do whatever you want. Just don't complain to me when it doesn't go well." She took the loaf and headed out of the kitchen.

Lek prayed it would go well. He headed back to the garden to pick flowers.

Oscar threw up in a corner of the kitchen. He was certain that he was going to die.

Difyr removed the boiling water from the fire. She was going to have to add a lot of cold. Then she heard the familiar sound of someone throwing up. She found the boy being sick in the corner. She approached him.

"What happened to you?"

"I'm dyin'! Right! Eever I got poisoned or the bleedin' plague but I'm bloody well gonna be dead soon." Oscar gasped.

Difyr felt the boy's forehead. "What did you eat?"
