Aron Buckley:
Aron finally reached a door that he thought was where Difyr had set up. He slipped inside, still hugging the wall.

Difyr looked up when Aron lurched into the room.

"Mr Buckley- what happened?" Difyr worried, going over to the former innkeeper to help him sit down on the floor. She needed to get some furniture in here.

"I...I may have had too much to drink. I just wanted to forget the past few days. But when I stood up, everything spun and I toppled over," Aron admitted.

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

Difyr had never seen Aron Buckley drunk, she did not think she had ever even see him take a drink, except maybe a few sips on special occasions. She wondered if Aron had any tolerance for alcohol at all.

"You're inebriated. I know it's tempting, but drinking when you're sad only makes you feel better for a little while and even worse later." Difyr said as she cleaned the cut, then pressed a cold, damp cloth to his forehead. He did not look concussed. "You should eat something, drink water, and take is easy and sleep this off." Difyr looked around her room, her other patient was already laid out on the floor. The keep was not exactly well furnished at this moment. "You can rest here."

"Has anyone found any food yet?" Aron asked. His stomach grumbled a bit, he couldn't remember when he last ate. "Maybe someone should have Xavier send someone out hunting."

"I'm not sure what the food situation is yet, I've been busy tending to patients." Difyr said. "They must have brought something to eat."

Difyr went to the girl.

"It's all right, you're safe now." Difyr glanced over at Aron, even drunk she was sure he would be a gentleman. "Xavier has Nelek in chains, he can't hurt you now."

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

Her head really hurt. Ila squinted at the healer. She was saying something about Nelek. Ila shook her head, that hurt too.

"Ow..." Ila touched her head, it was covered in a damp cloth. "That's not Nelek, he just looks like him." Ila looked around, she had been taken to a room. That wild looking woman was there, and someone was laying on the floor, Ila sat up unmindful of the cloak- it was a man. "Where's Aislyn, the real one's wife? I have to tell her."

"What? No, stay down." Difyr said, gently pushing the girl back down on the floor. She did not know what to make of what this girl was saying, but she was agitated. "Mrs Buckley, can you bring Aislyn here?"

"Mrs Buckley will have Aislyn here soon." Difyr said. "I'm Difyr Bateman, I'm a healer. Er, that's Aron Buckley he's- He's Mrs Buckley's husband." DIfyr had almost introduced him as the innkeeper.

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

"I'm Ila." Ila had lost her family name years ago. Ila's head really hurt, Mazi must have hit her really hard. She scarcely remembered what had happened. Mazi had taken her at that open place and two women had walked in on then, Ila now knew that they were Aislyn and Mrs Buckley. Ila remembered breaking the jug of potion and trying to tell them that he wasn't Nelek before she got knocked out. Ila smiled slightly, Mazi wouldn't be able to keep this disguise for much longer with his potion gone.

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

DIfyr wished she had another healer to bounce ideas off of, or even an apprentice. She did not know what to make of what Ila said. Difyr had seen some incredible and bizarre things.

But this girl could have become unhinged due to her life's circumstances. Difyr knew about the Crimson Dove, she had helped a midwife who treated the girls there when one had a broken leg and cracked ribs. The Crimson Dove was a brothel, but it was mostly made up of girls who came from high class families but lost their honor and were cast into the Crimson Dove. Difyr's midwife acquaintance did what she could for the girls, tried to improve their situation. But the bottom line was these girls were prostitutes and mistreated on practically an hourly basis. It was enough to make anyone turn to fantasy to cope with reality. Then this girl had a baby at some point- what had become of it? And she was with Nelek for some time, judging by the shackle still around the girl's ankle she was held prisoner. Difyr examined the girl, there was no doubt that she had been terribly abused.

Maybe Ila was a little crazy. Difyr wished she had some of the calming tea, but that had been left behind in Buckley Village.

Difyr looked to the door, wondering why Liadan was taking so long to bring Aislyn back.

Ila sat up again when Aislyn entered the room. "Aislyn Gerthrim- I gotta tell you, that man who looks like Nelek, he's not really Nelek. He's been using a potion to look like him. Your real husband is on an island, I saw him, weeks ago." Ila tried to stand up urgently, clutching the cloak.

Aislyn stared at her, her eyes cold and filled with disbelief. "Don't bother protecting him. I've got to hand it to you, your timing was absolutely perfect. You sent for me to leave me vulnerable to Tabor trying to attack me. And then you tell me something that is impossible, all to protect Nelek. You're welcome to him." She turned on her heal to leave the room.

"I'm fine, it was some manhandling, trying to force me to go with him. Xavier stepped in and got him to leave." Aislyn glared at Ila. "It shouldn't be a surprise to her, since she lured me out in to the open."

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

Ila sat on the floor, hugging her knees. "I met your real husband, he was chained up on an island wearing nothing but rags, but he still acted like a gentleman towards me." Ila herself had been wearing nothing but her shift at the time and the real Nelek had been embarrassed for her, she decided not to share this. Aislyn was mad enough. "He was worried about you and your children. He said the men who kept him prisoner and impersonated him were doing it for your first husband, who is their king."

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

Aislyn was infuriated and frightened, convinced Ila had lured her out to Tabor. She and her children were no longer safe. Xavier and his men could not watch them all day and all night. "You know how to weave a fanciful tale, I will give you that. You should look into a career of storytelling." She was much too angry and upset to even let Ila's words sink in before she left the room.

Re: The Keep - The Healing Room

Ila slumped. The real Nelek was going to be stuck on that island forever, or until he died. They were probably going to kill him soon now. He was a good man. Ila's eyes teared. If only she could have gotten Aislyn to believe her. Then Ila thought of it.

"The potion!" Ila reached for the healer, Difyr. "I smashed his jug of the potion. When it wears off and Mazi looks like himself she'll have to believe me."
