The girl was worked up so Difyr tried to calm her down. She desperately wished for the calming tea. The girl sounded more mad than lucid.

"It's all right. She'll believe you after the potion wears off." Difyr nudged the girl so she was lying down. "Just rest for now. I need to go see to Ne- Mazi. I'll let you know if his potion wore off."

Ila could not rest. She rose up on an elbow and looked at the man lying on the floor not far from her. Difyr had called him Aron Buckley, Aron was Aislyn's brother's name. Maybe he could get through to his sister.

"Hey, Mr Buckley." Ila called. She noticed that he smelled of wine and looked passed out. Ila held dealt with passed-out drunks before. Ila stood up and wrapped the cloak about herself. She found a pitcher of cool water. Ila carried the pitcher over to Aron Buckley and began trickling the water slowly over his face.

Aron sputtered and pawed at his face in an attempt to push the water off. "What the..." he grumbled, then rolled over on his stomach.

"Wake up." Ila pleaded.

"Wassit? Why? Izzit morning already?" Aron mumbled.

"You have to help, your sister doesn't believe me." Ila pulled the covers off Aron. "The real Nelek is on an island. The man who is here only looks like him, it's a potion."

Aron lifted his head to look at her with a confused expression. His head was still swimming. "Did you just say Nelek isn't Nelek?"

Ila nodded. "It's been someone else for a long time... And before that it was someone else." Ila realized what she was saying would be confusing to a sober man. Ila shook her head. "What matters is the real Nelek has been on that island for a really long time and he needs help. This man everyone has been thinking was Nelek and doing all this terrible stuff- I think he was just doing it to hurt Aislyn."

Aron thought for a moment. Sadly he hadn't been a fighting man when he and Nelek had gone after Sileas. He was by no means a fighting man today. "Could you tell or show Xavier and his men where this island is?"

"I don't know, I was underwater most of the time he took me." Ila said. "Who is Xavier?"

"The man who saved you from Nelek a while ago. The best friend of the man who will be governing this keep."

"I don't remember much." Ila admitted. "Mazi hit my head after I broke the jug of potion."

"I see. Well he and Wulfsen would be the ones to send people out to rescue Nelek."

"I need to talk to them then." Ila said.

Aron got up to stand on shaky legs. "I'll see if I can find Xavier. I don't know that Wulfsen has returned."

"Are you- well enough to walk?" Ila asked.

"I'll manage. I only need to stay close to the wall so it can steady me."

"Maybe I should go with you." Ila said. She did not want Aron Buckley passing out and forgetting what she had told him.

Aron glanced at her. "I'm not certain you are in any condition to be walking around yet."

"And you're drunk." Ila pointed out.

"I never denied it."

"What if you fall over and fall asleep?" Ila asked. "You'll forget what I told you, or think it was all from the drink."

"I'm not that drunk," Aron denied.

"You were passed out, I had a hard time waking you up." Ila said. "I've met a lot of drunk men, you're definitely drunk."

"I will be fine."
