"They did that to her too?" Lek supposed it should have been obvious, with the shape she was in and the way she acted. He still felt like crying.

Millie's heart broke. She reached out to touch her brother's shoulder.

Lek wiped his eyes, then grew angry. "I want to kill Jack, and all of those raiders! Every last one of them!"

"I'm sure we all do," Millie replied. She hated what they had done to everyone they cared about. No one was left unaffected in some way. But we need to show those who survived that there is hope and lives worth rebuilding."

"We need to get Papa, Papa will fix them." Lek said.

"Hmm," Millie said, with a slight tint of disbelief. If Uncle Shawn couldn't put an end to them and the guard was taken out, she didn't think their mild-mannered father would have much of a chance. "He'll probably need time to heal."

"Papa's smart, he knows how to handle bad guys." Lek said.

Millie bristled. "I never said he wasn't smart. I was thinking of the condition he's probably in and he's never been a fighter."

"If he has to fight he will." Lek said. "He'll know how to take care of those raiders."

Millie couldn't help but believe her brother was romanticizing their father. But then it wasn't like they'd even found him yet.

Lek raised what he was holding. Parchment. Ila's map. "We'll find him."

Millie hoped for Lek's sake that he was right. But they didn't even know if Sileas was willing to leave her mother right now to go on a voyage to places unknown. "I know we will," she said quietly, not entirely convinced.

"Let's find Sileas now." Lek said eagerly.

Millie scowled and glanced at Pinja's sleeping form. She really didn't want to leave her in case she woke up and needed something. "You go find her."

Lek hesitated, he wanted his sister with him. But it was not like she was in any danger here, and he could find Sileas on his own.

"Ok." Lek said and went looking for his cousin.

Millie found a spot to sit near both Aunt Brie and Pinja.

Difyr actually got enough time to make a list of the supplies she needed. The tired healer triumphantly raised the list and gently blew on it to dry the ink. She stpped out the door to find a knight to give the list to.

"Millie, we're going to Portside, come on!" Lek said excitedly.

"What? How?" Millie asked. She glanced toward Pinja, clearly reluctant to leave her.

"We're going with Sileas, Questa, probably a couple of knights." Lek said. "Come on. There will be sailors."

If Sileas was going to Portside, then Yehudit was going to Portside. Yehudit grabbed her walking stick and moved to stand up.

"But this is for Papa!" Lek was shocked. "And right now all we're doing is going to Portside. You've been to Portside before."

"I'm going to Portside." Yehudit took a step away, her stick clacking on the floor. "I've sat down long enough."
