New Management

When the party first arrives at the inn things seem normal and Maegla is behind the bar while another more authoritative woman is walking around playing a managerial role it appears.  The party approaches Maegla.

Og gives a Lord's Alliance greeting gesture when hops up at the bar. "Maegla, greetings I got your letter.  Allow me to introduce my companions, Taten, Yarabon, and Akraliph."

"We heard you were in need of aid, we would be more than happy to help." Akraliph says with a wmile. Maegla returns a half smirk that is more of a snooty sneer but it is clear she is stressed for some reason.

Yarabon seems itchy and twitchy rubbing his fingers along cuts and acid wounds from their recent ordeal with the wyvern. "We need to get back, wipe those cultist fucks out..not wasting our time playing barkeep's buddy." She grumbles but continues to stand by Og's side and follow his lead.

"Nice to meet you all." Maegla says with a snooty air but quickly that is drowned out by the stress in her voice. "Something's not right here Og and I need someone I can trust. I know when something fishy is going on and there definitely is. I just can't put my finger on it."

New Management

As Maegla is talking Og notices a well dressed man leaving the tavern quickly with a worried look on his face and a note in his hands.  Just after Og notices this the managerial looking woman comes over looks directly at Maegla and says "Hey Maeg, give me the keys I need to get into some of the meeting rooms."  Maegla searches her pockets and then her face absolutely drops and she begins fumbling around panickedly searching for keys. "Chalaska... they're gone! Someone must have stolen them!"

"What!?" the woman Maegla called Chalaska exclaims loudly in anger. "What are you doing to do about the missing keys? Maybe they aren't missing at all!" The woman then maks a gesture towards Maegla and shouts "Frisk her, Now!"

Og, Akraliph and Yarabon stare at this woman Chalaska in disgust as Maegla complies though her face shows the rage she feels being frisked like some common thief.  Taten continues to drink without a care in the world.

The guards then with Chalaska's order begin grabbing every person in the tavern and frisking them for evidence.  They eventually get to a young human man named Grendo who has already emptied his pockets as the guards come over and he has a note in his hands. "i...I don't know what this is, please I would never!" he begins to panic a bit as the guards grab the note frisk him then upon reading it drag him over to Chalaska along with the note. The note says "Tell Kendrin Feldarr its Chalaska"  "Chalaska I don't know how I got the note and I don't know a Kendrin, you have to believe me."

Chalaksa looks at the note then to Grendo and then back to the guards. "Keep an eye on him" Then her eye turns to Maegla. "Find out if a Kendrin Feldarr is listed in the guest book."  Maegla walks over and begins flipping through the guest book and sure enough inside is listed a Kendrin Feldarr.

Maegla looks at Og "Can you guys go up to room 3 it's where he's staying." She says with a hopeful smile. "The Swords and I will cover down here." Chalaska says sternly

Og nods in agreement, Yarabon rushes up the stairs beating Og to the punch shes the first one at the door.  Akraliph brings up the rear while Taten just sits at the bar and drinks, ignoring everything going on around him.

A crashing sound can be heard as Yarabon kicks the door open. Kendrin the human noble is inside and he begins screaming in fear and trying to run but without a window he's forced to try and blow through Yarabon. Where his box crashed four poisonous spiders pour out.

Yarabon cracks Kendrin across the jaw knocking him out instantly then they easily crushed the poisonous spiders without any threat or concern.

The swords take the man for further questioning and on the bed the party finds a note that says "They're watching. You aren't safe here"  "What the fuck is going on here?" Og says confused.

"More cult activity?" Yarabon wonders aloud. Akraliph shakes her head "The cultists have bigger plans than this, I don't think this is cult activity."

Eventually after thorough questioning Maegla, Chalaska and the party reconvene. Maegla speaks up first directed at Og. "Kendrin has no idea of any intrigues or even who Chalaska is.  Though he has admitted to being an exotic animals dealer and that trade troubles along the Long Road have set him on edge.

The party agrees that something shady is going on but nobody can quite put their finger on it.

New Management

The next day the party returns to the common area of the inn and the whole place is in a bustle. One of the patrons in the very busy tavern had found the strong room's door was ajar.  as the party arrives a dwarf begins to loudly announce "There's been a theft out of the inn's strong room and someone should investigate!" The dwarf pauses for a moment takes a drink of ale then shouts out again "I volunteer to be the first searched if that will get things going"

Chalaska looks fearful and angry while Maegla looks confused and stressed though neither say anything. The swords begin to search everyone starting with the dwarf.  He can then loudly be heard saying "I heard there was some sort of kerfuffle over Chalaska last night. Someone had a note about her?" He then later adds "Nothing like this happened while Nalaskur was in charge. Maybe he should have been here."

The swords then come back from the strong room with buttons that match Chalaska and from her room they find the keys and 300 gp of missing gold as well as the damaged shirt with missing buttons.  Chalaska becomes more and more agitated and begins trying to convince swords loyal to her to assist her in this madness. The other swords who don't join her bar themselves in the strong room.

"Before you lot kill each other let my party and I investigate." Og says confidently. Yarabon frustratedly begins looking about though her dedication is clearly lacking but Akraliph appears significantly on the ball and focused in this investigation.  Taten is still asleep in his room likely sleeping off his drunkeness from the day before.

Everyone comes back empty until Akraliph asks for the swords to come with her where she clearly points out in the southern towers attic boot prints that do not match Chalaska but in fact match the loudmouthed Dwarf.  Inside that attic she also finds 200 gold.

When presented with this information Akraliph tries to threaten the dwarf down but in reply Inglor whips out his daggers and begins stabbing Akraliph repeatedly. Yarabon then screams in anger and hacks the dwarf down.  Og stabilizes the man and the swords drag him away.  A few hours later Nalaskur returns and gets the full report from Chalaska.  Both Nalaskur and Chalaska thank the party for their assistance. "You have a friend in the Zhentarim, at least from us." Chalaska says with a sly smile on her face. "For tonight your welcome to stay here on the house, as a gift from the Zhentarim for your assistance." Nalaskur states coldly neither a smile or a frown upon his visage.

The party rests for the evening and awakens refreshed and prepared for a new day of adventure.

New Management

From the air they notice A small, carefully banked cooking fire smolders in the middle of this haphazard encampment. Half a dozen battered old tents and crates of provisions are scattered around, along with racks on which pieces of smoked fish are curing. Several fierce-looking human warriors are hunkered down in front of their tents, tending to their gear or quietly conversing.

Having already dealt with threatening figures on the road before the group agrees to come down and investigate this encampment. When they land they are immediately threatened by seven figures who begin pulling out weapons.  One looks like some sort of priest with a skirt made out of sea kelp and a staff made of a large shell.  It's body bares little crustaceans one might find at the bottom of the sea.  Along with him are two men one of whom has a turquoise skin tone. Each of them has a giant shield made of a crabs shell and swords completely lined with shark teeth.  They wordlessly approach along with five men and women who look like hired muscle.  The smell of the sea along with booze and body odor hits like a wave as the battle begins.

With a final strike from a heavily wounded Yarabon the party finishes off the last of their foes.  They find a few still live, members of the hired muscle.  After a very short interrogation they start spilling out information just asking to be freed they were only doing it for the money.

They reveal that they signed on with the "mercenaries" at Rivergard Keep and now work for Jolliver Grimjaw. They then tell the characters how to find the keep.

The party decides after a bit of deliberation to free them but not without several stern warnings of what they will face if they return to work for this cult or any one else terrorizing innocent people.

They run off without a sound.

The party then spends time mending their wounds and discussing the new information.  They decide they must return to the air temple they have already started to explore and finish the job and Taten chimes in that they should save the Djinn and seek the rewards he offered.
