Travel to Feathergale Spire

Xelael shakes her head in disgust. "Something is wrong with the natural order, the dreams and the feel in the land.  First the sinkhole now strange flying knights attacking us.  The danger is only growing I fear we must expect the unpredictable."

Yarabon wipes some blood from one of the corpses and spreads it on her face. "Time for war" she says to seemingly nobody then begins heading off down the trail.

Travel to Feathergale Spire

The party after a brief ten minute respite begins their journey to Feathergale spire.  It's not until late that evening they come across a group of five gruff ruffians and four large what look to be soldiers but their armor seems to be made of rock and solid earth. The gruff men bare scimitars and light crossbows at their side and the heavily armored guards have big stone morningstars.

"Greetings" one of the ruffians walks up and says to Og. "There's a toll for this bridge, one hundred gold per person and you can be on your way."

Og shakes his head in clear disapproval. "There are no sanctioned tolls on this road and we are investigating a disappearance so please make way and I will ignore this clear lawbreaking behavior."

As Og starts to proceed forward the nearest rock and earth armored man slams his morning star hard into the ground and the voice of one of the ruffians picks back up. "No my friend, you heard wrong there is indeed a toll here and I must inside you pay it to pass through here."

The stranger who seems to be doing the most talking starts laughing heartily. "Yeah we need it to care for our sick mothers back home." he barely gets his words out as he and the rest of the ruffians and thickly armored guards have a hearty laugh

Before she can react though Og engages. "By all that is good and holy if you will see no reason then you shall all be cleansed in the light of Lathander!" Og then assaults the strange ruffians and a battle ensues.

The party defeats the robbers and the men covered in a natural rock armor when defeated are crushed within the rocks screaming as they are crushed within their own protective shell then the entire corpse disentegrates.

All is well except Xelael who lays lifeless upon the ground bashed into the ground with a morningstar her body bloody and lifeless upon the ground.  Og does what he can to try and mend her wounds but all the prayers and work are for naught.

"Xelael No!" Og rushes to cast all of the healing he has but it is to no avail.  He knows Lathander teaches to be happy when one dies but the grief upon his face is all too easy to see.

he begins to say a prayer to her passing on the side of the road where she lay.

"Xelael, Your last Sunset, go to the arms of Lathander, be in his eternal warm soothing light. We will miss your warmth and love of nature, we will cherish your moments. Your legacy will continue with us, and through us you shall live on"

"She fought like Regdar but couldn't live up to his name.  She was a good friend but we must do better than she was able to."  Yarabon snorts and gives a tribal gesture common in her tribe to show respect.  Og gives her a strange angry look at her reaction but it quickly fades.

The party chooses to have a service for Xelael out here in the woods.  They found a nice quiet grove and buried her there, it was beautiful if not for the consistently chaotic weather that comes blowing in.  Thunderstorms, bouts of bitter cold then extreme warmth.  Sounds of landslides and rock falls off in the distance.  None of it good.

After the ceremony on the road the party runs into a group of pilgrims headed to a nearby holy site....

The party is greeted by the pilgrims and a tiefling that appears to be a priest of Ilmater which is an odd sight to say the least.  She also looks ill and battered far more than the ones she travels with.  She comes up to the party with urgency and speed unbecoming of someone who appears ill.

"You are the ones Ilmater has sent me to meet.  You are to stop these elemental disturbances no? I am destined to suffer through this task with you."

She reaches out her hand in greeting. "I am Akraliph, don't mind my age and appearance Ilmater's power took it's toll but I am ready for a life of adventure."

"I..well." Og appears a bit taken aback and maybe a bit uncomfortable after having lost such a dear friend so recently.  "We just lost a friend on this very road so though I don't mind the assistance you'll have to understand if myself and the others are very wary of a strangers presence. These are strange times and who knows who or what we can trust."

Travel to Feathergale Spire

Feathergale Spire rises from a pillar of rock high into the air, the tallest point for miles. Built from white limestone and embellished in marble, the spire resembles a gleaming sword that pierces the sky. The gatehouse faces the opposite cliff, its drawbridge the only apparent point of entry. Tall, wide windows encompass the bottom level of the tower, absent only upon the gatehouse side. A circle of open stalls rings the towers foundation where it meets the rock. Above each stall, the sculpture of a hippogriff in flight leaps from the towers base. Beneath Feathergale Spire to the east, a wide gusty canyon yawns through the hills.

The sky is a nearly cloudless beautiful crystal blue as the sun shines down on a beautiful day in the Forgotten Realms.  The wind up by the spire buffets the party heavily and it can be heard shaking and banging against the tower itself which seems to almost stand in defiance.

A gap of twenty feet separates the ledge where the path ends from the closed drawbridge on Feathergale Spire. The space between the cliffs edge and the gatehouse drops several hundred feet to the bottom of the canyon. Near the ledge, a brass bell hangs from a wooden post.
