The Gashidda

The Gishidda vessel was in hyperspace for the usual week. And then another day. Then another. Then another...systems started to have trouble as the fuel supply ran low. Power supplies began to fail as power requirements increased. Cathy tried to shut it down, but it seemed stuck. After 13 days in hyperspace, the fuel bubble that transported you burst and you finally came out...quite some distance from anywhere.

Cathy did some more work on the power systems to get back full manoeuvre power and life supports, but with emty tanks, you were not going to manage to use the hyperdrives again. A star was located about a weeks travel away from your position, and you set out. Not like there was any choice. You hoped it would not be a Vilani system. Fortunately, you had taken aboard some supplies as you offloaded missiles for the Jaques Cartier, and they were enough to get the skeleton crew back.

The system turned out to be Wallach, one of the larger Terran colonies in this region. Being a Vilani warship, the Colony officials demanded that the vessel be impounded indefinitely, to avoid a war. Once they hear the story, they agree to pay 60 million to both vessels (30 Million each vessel) once the story can be confirmed. Unfortunately, they only have a Class C starport, and this vessel is not going anywhere any time soon, so the colony takes it upon itself to repair it in case it needs to be flown back. She was set down, and you found the Jaques Cartier there!

The Jaques Cartier is commissioned to find a route into Vilani space other than the Saris-Yenisai bridge, and to locate and fully survey rich colony worlds that could be used to service that route. They are sponsored by the Terran Military, but there are many in the Civilian government who would be strongly opposed, so the mission is kept quiet.

There is also a transport heading back to Yenisai, where most of the ships crew will go. Captain Andreas and many of his men will return there, along with most of the crew of the Dastavka. But some voice an interet in changing employers. Given your experience, the Jaques Cartier would welcome any experience crew aboard.

[OOC: Samantha, Carrick has mentioned he is interested in a separate campaign due to the differences he had with Cyril. Given you have Samantha onboard this vessel, this gives you the opportunity to be involved in two separate threads here. Kats Ally will be heading back to the Dastavka.]

The Gashidda

In reply to Fate (msg # 1):

Looking around at the various options for proceeding, I would certainly approach the Captain of the Jacques Cartier to see whether or not he's in need of a good officer with an ambitious eye to the future, assuming I acquitted myself well in my duties aboard both the Dastavka and the Gashidda.

Also, I'll want to send communications to my parents aboard the Base to let them know that I'm alright and am seeking new employment.

The Gashidda

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 2):

Richard is happy to take that information back with them. Given only Mnwas family is onboard, and they decide to stay an Wallach, as it is very well suited to them, Mnwa decides to tak an official contract with the Jaques Cartier too. The rest return to the Dastavka.

The Gashidda

Sammy was just as happy to stay on the Jaques Cartier. She didn't relish starting new on a different ship and was thrilled they would be able to go off on their own. She went out on the space port to get any medical supplies she needed to stock up on the ship.

The Gashidda

In reply to Samantha Fox (msg # 4):

The Jaques Cartier is well staocked with supplies, but they don't object to more. You are given rooms appropriate to your rank, and all but the three of you depart for Yenisai.

The next day, you set off for Sionnach, the last Terran colony you expect to see for perhaps years.

Sionnach is a moderate sized garden planet, a little cooler than earth but uncomfortable due to it's lack of atmosphere. However, there are plenty of native plants that offer abundant food supplies. The population here is just 500.

[OOC please adjust your character sheets with any purchases you make. These will be your personal items...ship items will be provided as needed.]

The Gashidda

In reply to Fate (msg # 5):

You depart civilization for a system well mapped system known only as '0532', and then depart after having the refuelling ships boat gather fuel at a Gas Giant for much lesser known system '0331', its starchart position designation.

There is only one habitable location at this destination, a small barren moon just 800 miles in diameter orbiting one of the two gas giants. A frozen and inhospitable place, this is no place to stay.

But the captain asks Carrick to assist in an accurate mapping of the system, which will take ten days, while they refuel.

[OOC: Carrick, an Electronic Operations (Sensors) roll please]
