Re: Investigating the Labrysians

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 918):

"Thank you all for coming. Much has been happening, and much more is planned.

Captain Zotmund, you have most recently returned from Hibernia. In your absence, the Government sent a Destroyer to pass through Aegir to either 1439 or 1540 systems. It stopped at the second gas giant, and our scout was no match for it.

Further, we raided the two unihabited gas giants at Dirac, destroying the two frigates there. The modified freighters Horob and Aziz were led by our destroyer Methuslah in that raid. The raid also confirmed that our new fighters are faster that the enemies, and the rearward firing configuration of the beams means they can destroy significant number of them without loss. This also confirmed that the bulk of the enemy forces are stationed at Dirac, with 7 cruisers and about 12 destroyers seen there.

We are planning to repeat these raids with the help of the Midway and any other modified freighters we can find. We are replacing the frigates with modified scouts at 1540 to bring them in for this operation.

Now Cyril, what exactly is happening at Hibernia. What forces do they have there?

Re: Investigating the Labrysians

We do a data dump and provide all information we have.

We don't know Dirac ... and I assume Hibernia is 1239? There was a smaller fleet at 1239... although not insignificant.

Re: Investigating the Labrysians

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 921):

"Hmmm, yes Hibernia is 1239 and Dirac is the name of the star at 1340, where the research colony was captured and they are building a new starbase."

He is going over your notes with interest.

"One cruiser, 2 destroyers and 3 frigates at the planet, with an additional frigate at the other planets. But your notes indicate they have removed armour in order to make them faster, such that the frigates and to a lesser extent the destroyers will be vulnerable to fighters, since the fighters are faster and have a longer range.

But what did you hear about the new ship? Have you seen one?

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 923):

"Naturally. As do we. They are positioned to intercept any sneaking vessel that might want to arrive and leave in a hurry. We need a lot out to cover where they could arrive.

What do you know about the new vessel Size? Armour? Weapons? Speed? Fighters?

Lewis produces a copy of the flight recorder information on what was observed for the time we were in orbit. "This is the best we have, Sir."

Note that the Government forces are conducting a major search for something in this area... he points at the photo/map ... either a part of the space station or something else, but it's important, whatever it is.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 926):

"Hmmm. Andrew mentioned about the hard drive you took from a Destroyed destroyer having some information on it. You would not have the original drive would you?"

He looks over the data about the planet and smiles.

"It would seem that their hold on that planet without the starbase is tenuous at best. This is known to be a mining facility, though they have started producing larger vessels here recently to save transporting much of the material. We will be sure to have some scouts investigate this."

In reply to 'Captain' Ronovan Ga Det Hug (msg # 928):

"You may well be right. But unless you want to risk a trip to land on the planet, that may be a task best left to our intelligence network. They simply blend in better. But perhaps we can send a raiding force there, after they hit one of the Gas Giants at the Research Colony.

Since your craft is fitted with advanced sensors, you would be better suited to going and searching for that rogue destroyer before it causes some havoc. We sent scouts through, but they left only a few days ago, so we do not know what they have found. But whilst fast enough to escape the destroyer, they probably could not destroy it.

Kat hangs back, keeping her hand near her pistol. She doesn't like some of what is going on. She keeps quiet, just watching everyone.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 931):

"Scout reports that it was the older style, but they could be wrong. I hope not, but the scouts sent were as fast as fighters. We too have improved the speed of our ships after seeing how yours performed, and particularly after seeing how the Dastavka has destroyed a couple of bigger warships primarily due to speed."

Re: Investigating the Labrysians

In reply to Lewis Eugene Grey (msg # 935):

"Oh, and by the way, our scouts have reported a primitive Human colony on 1439. Given their distaste for humans, then may have been headed there. Anyway, we will let you think about it for a few minutes while we discuss the upcoming operation. If you have anything to add to our discussion, feel free to weigh in."

He assigns an aide to answer any questions you might have regarding your own mission, and turns to the others present.

Captain Nemo of the Midway and a number of Labrysians begin discussing the operation they are planning. It is clear they plan to take a large force to hit the Gas Giants near the Research colony, to try to encourage the Government troops there to separate their forces.

Objections are raised that the Government will put in place a trap there if it is done too often, and the Dastavka's actions in Hibernia (1239) and the previous raid into Dirac (1340) will have driven home about the Gas Giants vulnerability. Nemo counters that by saying that the more force they put there, the more they stand to loose. It is proposed then to send all seven modified Freighters and the Destroyer Methuslah with the Midway this time.

In reply to Lewis Eugene Grey (msg # 938):

"We don't know much about them, as they seem very secretive. Indeed, we have only discovered them in the last few months. Their weapons seem backward, generally being kinetic only, and while they use radios like us, they do not seem capable of space flight. As such, we have ignored them. But we suspect the government forces might be trying to raid them, or even exterminate them, before you find them."
