Re: Investigating the Labrysians

I seriously doubt that humans evolved here separate from all other parts of the race and yet the same ... my suspicion is they are they survivors of a crashed ship.... or their offspring.

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 946):

The discussions about the upcoming operation come to a completion.

"Ok, so we are all clear on what has transpired, and what our next missions are. May fortune smile on us. Any further questions for the whole group before we separate?"

In reply to 'Captain' Ronovan Ga Det Hug (msg # 948):

"If they fight the Government troops and not us, then I don't see how it can hurt. We use hunting beasts, so why not? If they turn out to be even more advanced, then adding them to our list of Allies could be an even more significant bonus, since they cannot run, so they will be more motivated to fight!"

"A large carnivorous reptile that is quite smart, found on native Labrysia. They struggle without the atmospheric taint of sulphur though, so you are unlikely to see them. They may have some armour though."

Any other guidance, should we come across one? Other than to not feed it. Any specific vulnerabilities?

Re: Investigating the Labrysians

In reply to Labrysian Aide (msg # 953):

With no more questions for the group, Ackbar then dismisses everyone. The Labrysians ask for a few hours go to acquire a couple of anti-armour missiles, and the rest of you are able able to look around.

There are no luxuries to be seen. The site is very industrious, with at least four massive cruisers, including the one you nuked, undergoing massive reconstruction, with notable changes. Modern Beam weapon turrets replace plasma ones, and two massive missile batteries replace plasma bays. Engines are significantly bigger too.

Destroyer hulls are also being rebuilt with a light missile battery and Beam turrets.

Lewis sees this as a good time to service his equipment, being in such an industrial military setting.

Cyril dispatches most of his officers through the rebel base to gather information.  He likewise tries to gather some himself.

Not really sure exactly what Cyril wants, Duke tends to look for things of interest to him and those that might be useful to the ship...

Re: Investigating the Labrysians

In reply to Lewis Eugene Grey (msg # 958):

The ships that were captured or destroyed from the old fleet were all of known designs. The assault ships had large armoured tanks clearly to cut short the resistance from the colony once victory was had. Command tanks were 200 dTons in size, with heavier armour than a destroyer! Other details of the ships were obtained.

With the victory, support has seemingly solidified behind the current rebel leadership. The leadership is based on the colony further out, so you do not get to see the details of it working, but the command structure here is very militaristic, as might be expected.

Duke finds that technology is still low, but there is a strong willingness and even eagerness to learn. Work is very much focused or rebuilding the hulks, but there is a dumpyard where numerous old fighter wrecks have been dumped to keep space a little clear. Many of them are being turned into very explosive asteroids by a small but dedicated team of engineers.

Lewis checks out the depo and armoury, and sees if he can find any spare bits and empty housing, from laser rifles, so he can build himself a serviceable carbine. OOC: scrounging

Lewis finds nothing. labrysians don't seem to be much for lasers, he concludes.

In reply to Tanya Weaver (msg # 964):

Cool. How much time do you put to these tasks? The ship will be refuelled in a few hours, and the extra weapons asked for by the Labrysian mercenaries aboard take even less time. Some other tasks take more, but you can be gone within 24hours.

But gone to where?

Lewis's fruitless efforts lead him back to the docking bay. He leans against a wall, arms folded and blank faced.

I am thinking 1439, then 1540 then 1441 and then back here. The Destroyer is likely in one of those first two. Should we find a downed ship, we may have to alter the plan though.
