She removes the chain and lets him in before resealing the door...

You caught me in the bath, I need to go in and rinse off, if you'll give me a couple of minutes.
There is some "wine" there if you'd like a glass.

Re: Excalibur!

Gloria returns to the bathroom, closes the door, drains the tub, rinses off in the shower and puts the robe back on (with a good overlap, s she isn't displaying too much). Brushes her teeth and steps back out.
So what was so hard? Pour me a half glass as well if you would.

She sits as demurely as possible given her attire.

In reply to Gloria Flake (msg # 947):

He sips quietly.

"Unofficial channels yesterday showed that the Giriian fleet smashed the combined Dingir/Shululsish at an unknown location, but we had it quietly confirmed that it was at Seru."

He pauses, and pours himself another drink.

"The thing is, I had a friend commanding a Kargash there. Bit of a thruster, wanted to get ahead. Knew some of the crew, too.

But don't say anything about the official confirmation. The damn government here is trying to keep it quiet. Cracking down on the news will not achieve anything, but they are trying to work out who brought the video here. The broadcast claimed it was an eyewitness account.

Re: Excalibur!

Gloria does her best to look surprised although without some mental preparation she doesn't do so well. She is aware she didn't pass it off so well.
She shrugs ... I guess I shouldn't try to act so surprised, we heard about it and saw some of the clips further coreward, but being in Vilani space with unknown responses to that information, we decided to just keep quiet. From what we heard, that fleet got it's butt kicked badly.

He smiles briefly.

"Didn't you mentioned that you were trade envoys from Girii? You really know nothing about the clip that was released about the war Girii was in about the time you came through?

Don't worry, I actually don't care that the truth was released...if that was the truth. But I do want to know what happened to my friends ship, and the clip was rather short of those details.

Brass, as usual, does not tell us shit...

Re: Excalibur!

Lots of ships come and go here, we are hardly the only possible source ... but yes, we did come from Coreward. As for a ship by ship breakdown ... I couldn't hope to answer you, even if I had been there in person ... I know Girii captured many ships, but not all at first. Girii seems to have treated their prisoners well although the very hard corps ones were certainly difficult and had to be forcibly restrained. If you give me his information, I will keep my eyes open in my travels ... but that is a desperate long shot at best.

He gives you the pennant number of the Vessel in question.

"If you could find out about this, even if it takes a trip away, we can cover for your absence. Not everyone gives a shit, but there are enough that we can get you out to find out and back again. Hell, if you could get back to Girii and check the prisoner lists, I know some of us would be very greatful."

Re: Excalibur!

Whoa, that's a tall order!  I wouldn't mind, but the costs are reasonably high. Are there funds to cover such a trip? I am not looking to get wealthy, but I can't do it for free ...

In reply to Gloria Flake (msg # 953):

He sighs and sits back.

"No, I am afraid there is no way we could cover such costs, and the damn government would never fund it. If there were no Anukundu lost, then as far as they are concerned no real losses. The friggin pirates between Khishirii and Shuurashana mean that they will unlikely ever get back on their own, too.

Ah, forget I asked. Not sure they would give out such lists anyway.
"

He sits back in resignation and takes anothe good sip of wine.

Re: Excalibur!

I gather the Pirates have been dealt with largely if not completely. It would seem that many of them were actually from Lemrukiri and supported by Shulishish!  They blamed it all on Girii and assorted Terrans ... there are a few Terran pirates about I gather, but far fewer than all were led to believe. If you get me the list and a letter or note to whom ever, saying we are not shipping them to a prison planet, I will at least keep an eye out in my travels. It's not much of a chance, but more than nothing. She leans forward to put her glass down, expanding the view to almost her navel  for a moment or two.

-She is monitoring the political climate, she'd like to see a bit more turmoil, but would prefer not to be directly or indirectly tied to it ...  if he provides the data to her, she will look into it at Garaniis, Lemrukiri and Girii while at those places. it might give her a further tie to the middle management of the government.

"Glad to give you the list. We would be indebted if you could look into it. Unsharlur is a prison planet, but why would you need a letter saying where you are shipping them to? There were nearly forty folk, you would not fit them into your craft!

Kind of like your bra..."

He definitely notices as you lean forward...

If you want to change topics to a more...erotic topic, we can fade to black with that.

She laughs... No, no, the letter tells them that you or your group sent me and that I am NOT taking them to a prison planet.  And my Bra fits in my ship quite easily ... and the girls here fit in the bra equally well ... want me to show you?

You both wake up next morning after a rather steamy night. He seems to have very much enjoyed himself, and cooks pancakes for you for breakfast.

Then he comes up with the idea of travelling to Girii with you! He asks how much it would cost.

OK, and I'll keep you in mind if things change ... it's always possible.

After he leaves she'll confer with Lt Gardner about what she has learned and what he thinks of trying to recruit this fellow as an operative.

He leaves quietly, and you head next door to Garners room.

"There is some chance or recruiting him, but it would seem he is happy at Sukun, but not too happy with the more remote administration. Certainly it is an angle to be worked...he seems to be typical of the local Kimashargur in his resentment of the High Vilani ways, putting him at odds with the Anukundu regiment here, and indeed Dingir and Kidashi."

Re: Excalibur!

Yes and a potential source of information from inside the government at low to middle levels.  He has said he will give us a list of men that went with the fleet from Dingir, he'd like to find out what happened to them, and I gather it is a group of fellow officers as well. That might also be a useful in for information. He was quick to link our arrival with that sudden release of the news from Girii ... that is a troubling thought, and it may cost us some heartache. Maybe it's time to visit elsewhere for a while.
