"It is expensive. Fine, it is gems, but now that you know, we insist you take at least 3 armed guards and bring them back, for the same price. That is the price of knowing."

They are obviously a little irate at having to tell you the contents. Most smugglers do not insist on knowing.

How was the one man coming back? The two or three can come back the same way ... jewels are just pretty rocks, peddling them would bring me maybe 20% of their value and likely ruin my business.  If they are jewels, I'll drop them off with your man or men ... do understand we don't have a lot of room for passengers. Also understand that you don't threaten us; we are doing you a favor, or not if you are concerned about us delivering. Do the receiving group know they are coming ? How would we find them? When we came through there was a sense of being watched ... don't think we are going to sneak in.

"One man was willing to stay there, the rest are not. Hence, they need to be brought back. The locals are...very observant. They will find you as they are expecting this, as payment for their previous attempts to help us. We don't threaten you, but you ask a lot of us, and we therefore feel, since we have obliged you, you should return the favour.

They will take with them two weeks food. Basic accommodation for two will be sufficient, since one will remain on sentry duty.

Yes, reluctantly, the crew (Me and the ladies) will be armed at all times and anyone messing with the ladies is subject to a space walk. I will make sure that is understood by these guards. I will not have my crew messed with.

Right. The guards are burly miners though, and after a week with real men, they crew themselves might be messing with the guards...

But on boarding, the men make it clear they understand. As long as no-one messes with the cargo, they will do their best to stay out of your way, even helping out from time to time. Apparently, one turns out to be a pretty good pastry chef...fortunately they brought spare supplies.

The week in Hyperspace is uneventful, outside the small craft. Inside, Luretha and particularly Yung No are not seen in the Cockpit much. Yung No, being an engineering type, was never there often though so that was not noticed so much. But nothing is said.

On departure from hyperspace, you are given directions to land at a certain location on the planet. You are not really sure how, though. There is nothing through the radio or any normal modes of communication.

OK, But I know where engineering is and as captain, do check on things regularly ... Luretha is duly noted.
Yung No is sensors as I remember, Luretha was Engineering with Jurelda as  second in engineering.

We land where instructed, but Nelaroi and I both discuss this, Yung No as well if present at sensors.

A few times when dropping by you observe the guards departing, and the ladies with broad smiles. They are not shy to discuss things if asked, but do not offer more information than asked for.

Luretha is present when you land...she is always present for her duties. The landing is without hitches. The small local inhabitants talk little, but you seems to sense rather than hear what they are talking about. On meeting them, they sense your uneasiness, and you have the thought that you are still a child in their eyes, though they respect you for what your father accomplished, as you yourself have not accomplished that much yourself. In fact, it is respect for your father that hinders your relationships with most of them. You find it hard to understand where the thought came from...

Sdian is confused a bit by the thought and where they came from ... his irritation with the women refusing him, but carrying on with some stray Goons is high in his thoughts, he has to keep forcing it down so he can deal with things fairly and fight the urger to hold Grudges.

He facilitates the Transfer of the can.

A 2 dTon can is not a small object weighing several tons, yet it is removed by the small locals with one hand! They ask if you can transfer back to the colony with the guards an additional 5 dTon cargo of food for $50,000, payable by the colony. You notice the race does not seem to have vocal organs!

In reply to Sdian McGuire (msg # 91):

On a mining colony, it is not hard to find other volunteers for engineering. A large gruff Geonee gentleman is quite willing to take advantage of the opportunity as he does not seem particularly wealthy, although Luretha is not so keen to leave. She has a history, like you, that is not conducive to staying in one place for long.

Yung No, like many women from the Asian culture, is looking for a man to settle down with and she seeks someone at least as old as herself, and preferably with good resources. This place offers no-one to settle down with, so she wanted to play with a man who was at least as big as her and older...

The crew were playing around, but object when you show jealousy, pointing out that you do not own them. You have been with Nelly, so they get quite annoyed that you would want more. If you press the point, it is likely to get heated...

Well excuse me for being Human ... And Male. It really rubs my ass, so deal with it.
I offered to let you go with them, didn't order you off.
I will if it should ever become necessary, but it won't over this sort of thing unless it gets way out of hand. I haven't required anything of anyone except an honest days work, but do contemplate how you'd feel if everyone didn't want anything to do with you and then turned around and carried on with a bunch of strangers.

He'll verify with the planet that it has no further loads to send and then pack up [ did we swap the food for money?]. We'll head back toward Girii to get paid for the delivery of Medicines.

The swap for the cash is made. The girls, particularly Luretha, is astonished.

"Really? You are a child, and you expect two grown women to wait in line to share you? Either you have a seriously oversized ego, or you are Geonee and consider us as possessions! Your father at least understood women do not like to share. Especially not children! So what are we to you?"

The others look on with some distaste. Even Nelly is not happy she was not enough for you...

OOC - Umm you sure are stretching things a lot  ;-)  This may be a very short thread at this rate; was hoping for a happy ship with a playboy atmosphere.

1. I am NOT a child, though I may be younger than you are.
2. I don't expect a line at my cabin door ...  and I don't expect to be sloughed off for any guy who shows up.
3. No one is anyone's possession. Some though, choose to become more than just employees.
4. You are the crew and I am the Captain; I didn't think I was that distasteful as a captain or a human, but if that is the case, please feel free to find a better ship on which to serve.
5. At the moment, only Nelly and Jurelda* seem to fit here. As for my Father, he slept with several of you and loved you all in his own way.  He taught me most of what I know, and I have been with other women too; the only difference was my fathers ship had a slightly larger crew.
6. I prefer to care for my crew like they are family, as did my Father. That in fact was how Jurelda was able to know I was a friend and I to know she was trustable as well; she hasn't felt any requirement to visit my cabin and is none the worse for it.  But any who dislike this set up may go. I'll live here in the ship alone if need be.

So as not to have any more dissension, we need to settle this now. If service on my ship is so undesirable, get off of it while you can.

* The two who did not mess around with the guards.  Sdian chooses not to mention that he and Jurelda have previously been intimate, although she was slightly inebriated that evening... she was slighly abashed inthe Morning, but Sdian treated her well and they consecrated their friendship before she left in the morning.

Until we settle things, the ship stays on Limun ... thinking in terms of an hour perahaps

In reply to Sdian McGuire (msg # 95):

In my experiences with women, this is not a stretch at all! I have met very few woman that would not get upset at their partner sleeping around! So for three adult women to share a teenager (even one in a position of authority) would be extremely unusual, especially if they had slept with his father! Such women would rarely stick to just one partner, and would usually be offended, as is the case here, if it was suggested the teenager could sleep around but they could not! Since Nelly is the one who has slept with you, the others, out of friendship with her, do not.

They are happy to serve on the ship as crew and accept you as captain, as long as they are able to sleep with whoever they choose without you getting upset. It was you getting upset about them sleeping around that irritated them and made them feel like possessions.

In reply to Fate (msg # 96):

In 21st century Australia I believe you... most of the US is the same, but not all of it. Think back to the Hippie generation with 'free love' and all sorts of partner swapping, sometimes with drugs to be sure, but not always. It still exists in a few places.
Then think of other societies ... Germany is somewhat more promiscuous than we are (can't speak for the rest of Europe) and even Sydney was a bit looser when I was there in the late '60s on R&R.  Other places vary as well and polygamy is still extant ... as close as Northern Arizona and Southern Utah!  Some "devout" Mormons still think of it as God's Intent. Then there were the Polynesians... they had sex about as often as we shake hands and considered it about the same, if you like it, do it, everyone can ask and not so many refuse, any more than you would refuse to shake hands with someone. Of course, since sex was everywhere and unencumbered, men didn't act like jerks either.

Now we transition to a different time, with medical ability to prevent unwanted conception and cure most all if not all STDs. These women haven't much inclination to settle down and feel free to carry on with whom they please when they please.  Basically good for the Goose, Good for the Gander. Certainly there are women who expect to settle down in a marriage and raise a family, but these aren't those sorts of women for a variety of reasons.

Sdian isn't so mad that the girls had a fling as he is that they wouldn't fling with him, but then did with some total strangers. He thought they had all helped each other out of a spot and were happily working together; so his shorts got in a knot when they shred with others what they wouldn't share with him.
He feels close to both Nelly and Jurelda; he'd cheerfully please either and expects to take care of them when need be. He expects them to not be jealous of each other or any of the other girls ...  and of course if they want to fool around, that is their right. If they want to settle down with someone, he will bid them well (but no longer feel any obligations toward them). So sort of a loose free love society with some of the Polynesian overtones ... I am aware that couples did become monogamous in Polynesian society by mutual agreement for as long as they both agreed to be monogamous.
