Re: The Minnow II

Johnny died with Dad, a crooked customs guy thought Dad was holding out on him. They tied all of us crew up. A crewman came back aboard and a fight broke out; the Guard shot Dad while he was tied up, from a foot away ... I managed to get a hand free and killed the ass and his two accomplices. Took everything thing I could, wrote good reviews for the remaining crew and pulled most of the rods out on the reactor, then got myself and the remaining crew out of there... took longer than I thought, but it went critical and blew up along with any evidence they might ever have found.  I didn't stick around, but I expect it made a mess of the star port.

The guy to the side smiles and speaks.

"You must be Sdian, and I am Johnny. I worked with your father, sad to hear he has gone. If you blew up his ship, where did you get yours?"

In reply to Sdian McGuire (msg # 948):

Asian is spellcheckese for Sdian...

"Nice. The previous one legally acquired, of course, from insurance money? I don't want to know...but now that we know that, I think we can work together.

We have worked out where the Homaker is coming from. There are a lot of details we are not sure about, but we have determined that there is a secret laboratory at one of the Gas Giants in the Cole system, and they use the refueling base there to transport the drug to here. We figure if supply can be stopped, then the criminal network will tear itself apart. It is risky, but we are desparate, and since you have admitted you blew up your father's ship to kill a corrupt customs inspector, we figure we can count you in.
"

He pauses with a smile to let that sink in.

He Laughs... and even on camera it would be hard to prove... regardless, we do want to see the drug disappear, we just don't want to be destroyed doing it. So what  can you tell us about where it is being made and who is running the refueling station. A missile in either likely solves the issue as an investigation will find the drugs and be impossible to cover up...

In reply to Sdian McGuire (msg # 950):

"You might think, but no. They have the guys running the refueling station well and truly in their control, though officially it is run by the military. That is the problem. We got a guy onto the station, but when he set off a tank and caused. a massive explosion, he was locked away as a terrorist and they shut down the investigation right there. We don't have much more than the approximate location of the actual refinery, but it is tightly controlled, and we can't get back to find out more because we have been identified as problem children, and potential terrorists.

But we do have guys who can carry weapons and wreak havoc, if you can get them onto the station. It may be a standard refining station, but it probably has more teeth.

"We are happy to accommodate any non combatants, replacing them with capable combatants. In fact, we want you to take a group of capable combatants with you. We also have found that one of the combat drugs, Urshaggim, seems to negate Homaker for the duration of its effects.

But other than that, it is kind of a smuggling run.

With the shuttle you can carry up to 26, but you need life support for 14 for your crew and kids.

Identify any special items you might want, and let me know who you speak to before you go.

I give them a brief update, then try to rest until seven or so. I'll clean up and head down to the breakfast place, but make sure the ladies know where we are to be and clue them in about this woman's hopes.  I may need to run for my life or we may have a new crew member.

Well I don't have desert with Breakfast; regardless, I am not going to sample or eat any of it. i will pick at the leaves with my fork and give her the raised eyebrow.

As far as getting out of town, what is she looking for? My life is pretty boring most of the time.

She is embarrassed as you remove the leaves.

"Horny goat weed..." she explains.

She has a somewhat romantic notion of life on a spaceship. For someone working 9-5 in a small backwater, the idea of traveling appeals to her. She does not buy that your life is boring.
