Shut your mouth and open your ears smart ass... I run this operation and I most definitely did say we would be two on a shift (Msg 42). And there will be two peope on each shift, clear?

In reply to Luretha Setlock (msg # 51):

He scowls that you pulled rank, and that you appear to be ganging up on him.

"Fine. I am off for the first shift then."

He storms out to the truck, pushing any who try to stop him out of the way if it comes to that.

The way the vehicles bounce around sleep is unlikely. However, you still have about 5 hours of daylight left.

The now parked vehicles bounce around? Even as havy as they are?  May be we should move ... ground is obviously unstable here.

Get some sleep Bonnie, You will not need to pull  two shifts unless Sasha wishes to walk back.

She smiles gratefully, but says nothing, not wishing to encourage any thoughts of 'favourites'. As she passes Sasha she says very quietly, "If you should need me, I'm here for you."

They don't bounce when parked! Bonny was talking about getting some sleep on the move tomorrow. Sleep when parked should be easy enough.

Sasha is in the Truck, or getting there, at this point. Does Bonny head to the truck?

In reply to Bonny Taching (msg # 59):

As the afternoon wears on, the snow continues to fall, and after an hour a full blown snow storm closes in. Winds howl and visibility drops to zero as snow swirls around, and the danger presented to anything not well grounded becomes evident.

The truck, which is warm but does not have food or toilet facilities, has just Bonny and Sasha. The normally level headed teen is still angry about what he considers the belittling attitude of the older women who act like his mum but are not and he is happy to have cold rations and sleep in the truck, though cautious of cuddling Bonny too much.

In the APC, the facilities are much more comfortable, and food is warmed, and the small mobile toilet and shower is welcome.

By evening, the storm has abated. Sensors indicate no signs of life until the second watch. Then a group of medium sized life forms are detected. Cameras indicate a pack of large rodents.

Jurelda will make sure during her watch, that the two in the Truck are warm and have food and know that they can use the facilities in the CEV.

Thanks to the fusion reactor, warmth is not a problem. Temperatures do not drop below -30 Celcius. One of them does head across to the APC for food, likely Bonny to use the facilities as well (Sasha goes outside to relieve himself).

At the sight of the rodents, Jurelda is on watch with Luretha. Any response? Range is about 600 yds at sighting. Those in the truck are asleep.

If they are no apparent danger, why wake people?  If it was a pack of Lions 600 meters away I would see no reason either... if they moved closer, I might suggest Sasha pee in a coffee can. In fact Bonny might have to practice that skill as well, in that case. Throwing it out the window in all this wind might also be an issue.

The mod of small creatures meanders to 400 yards, before noticing the odd (in their eyes) vehicles. At that point they start walking directly towards you, picking their way through the decline as they approach.

The creatures see the flash of light as the laser fires, and head towards it curiously.

No loud bang or smoke with a laser...

Ah, forgot about Duran. You wake him any he fires a shot, hitting one. It screams a little before it dies. That does cause the others to start squealing as they hastily depart.

The rest of the night passes quietly. The next morning there is an even layer of snow obscuring the ground.

Using our navigation systems, can we now safely proceed?
CEV can lead if that helps.
