Kat pilots the ship towards the airraft, trying to get as close as she can with the ship. "OK Captain, we are there"

The Vilani say nothing for a minute, as they seem to talk amoung themselves.

"Ok, then. We will surrender to you as long as you take us to Gashidda, to the military court there. Agreed?"

Dr Trots, I have no issue and little say... the Governor will be the one deciding... I can't override his decision. I will forward your request to him though... and put in my 2ยข.

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 970):

There is more discussion, but the futility of their situation is apparent, and the vilani reluctantly come out and surrender to your troops.

Meanwhile, Duke is finding no such cooperation. The radio chatter there indicates the initial three squads have come under attack and are falling back with significant casualties. Duke and the Dastavkas crew are left on the front line when the main force arrives from the Dastavka. By the time Cyril is accepting the last Vilani's surrender, however, the combined firepower from the ships boat, which was damaged when it also came under fire, and the overwhelming numbers does carry the day, and the fighting ceases with the death of the last enemy soldier. Apparently, the SDU don't surrender when there are Vilani witnesses...

Only their commander is left at large, defiant in his air raft.

Once we have them under control, I take one or two men and inspect the ship for repair-ability, and anything of interest that might have been overlooked (codes frequencies, charts, messages etc.).

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 974):

The power supply, engines and Turrent all suffered direct hits, and would need to be replaced. You will need to get a temporary power supply to power up the computers to get anything useful out of them. Having said that, it is repairable if you were to replace those parts...though they are the most expensive parts.

Re: Scouting ahead

I guess the question really was "is it economically repairable?" can we fix it and sell it for more than what we have to put in it... if it's iffy, it's not worth it.

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 976):

Duke will do a full engineering analysis once he finishes what he is doing.

Most likely, it will be more efficient to improve the ships boat and get it to accommodate a ground vehicle, cannabilizing the parts.

Re: Scouting ahead

Over comms: Jo. Grab a grenade launcher and EMP that raft for me. Let's put an end to it's capabilities, if you please.

I'll assist him in getting ready - suiting and tethering and, if it would help, I'll go out and help steady him.

"Copy that. Suited up and heading out."

She heads out, with magnetic maintenance boots, to the point of the bow, where Kat can at least hear him easiest, and attaches himself. Rodney offers to accompany him as well.

So both are, at this point, hanging off the nose as Kat maneuvers into position...

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Katherine 'Kat' Steele (msg # 982):

While Jo aims the grenade launcher, Rodney fires his laser rifle at the air raft as a distraction. It works. The laser round cuts into the raft causing minor damage, and the commander returns fire, forcing Rodger to dodge out of the way just in time. The gauss rounds ricochet harmlessly off the hull.

Jo then fires with the grenade launcher. The shot is good, forcing the rafts two occupants to dodge, but the round goes off beside them anyway. All electronics ceases working, including the raft and the gauss guns.

With the raft now disabled, Rodger and Jo walk around the Dastavkas hull as Kat turns the ship, and the guide it into the rear bay. The occupants, now effectively armless, can do nothing and are soon in custody.

Re: Scouting ahead

I'll be there to greet them as the ship is towed into the bay, quickly re-pressurizing in case oxygen is in short supply on the raft now that the power systems are down.

Alongside, of course, will be the security team that Cyril left behind, weapons locked. Waiting...

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 985):

The raft floats into the speeders docking bay with room to spare, and two engineering listings use lines to make it fast as Carrick takes the two men into custody, checking them for weapons and removing any found. The men say nothing, merely staring at Carrick with rage in their eyes.

At Cyrils suggestion, Captain Maya scans the motionless scout.

"I can't see any signs of trouble, but to be sure, I will get an away team over there asap. Kat, can you dock with it please?"

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Katherine 'Kat' Steele (msg # 990):

The Dastavka pulls up alongside the crippled scout and docks, allowing a small boarding party across. Three dead crew members are found, but no living ones. Damage is extensive, with all computers overloaded and damage to the power supply and hull integrity meaning the could not be landed safely, which would be required to repair it properly.

After a time, Niki recovers the boarding party and returns to the planet.
