Either they had a hole we didn't know about and are dead, or they are waiting... Carricke, can you tell them to come out wth teir hands up and no weapo s, or we take them back to space for a short hot ride.

Re: Scouting ahead

They might simply be in biosuits.

I'll radio the ship: Come out, hands out, and surrender peacefully, or you and your ship will be destroyed.

Are we certain someone is aboard? Could it be a decoy escape?

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 918):

The vessel was manoeuvring as it left the Cruiser, and the cruiser was blow to several bits soon after the Assault boat departed when the missiles hit, so there was someone aboard. However, with no power since it was hit, Communications systems are possibly offline.

Standard Assault boats do not have life support, so all occupants were possibly in suits before it was hit.

OOC- I'm having trouble visualizing this situation... from what you describe, we are going to have to go into the bay and open the air lock and use hand and arm signals?

Re: Scouting ahead

Cyril, they know they're in our cargo bay. If they don't want to come out, telling them to do so is probably not going to change anything. And, of course, if they're dead, they can't. We're just going to have to get a look inside, I think.

[OOC: I'd like to send in my hovercart with four cameras on top, each pointing 90 degrees away from each other. Is that possible?]

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 921):

The ships boat bay is designed to snugly fit the ships boat, with the airlocks on both the ships boat and the Dastavka lining up perfectly when the boat is clamped into place. Rails slide out with covers to protect the boat once it is in place, and these are currently extended, but to work on the outside of the ships boat, one needs to withdraw these and Don a spacesuit.

Because the assault craft is a smaller version of the ships boat, it fits into the space with the covers extended, but the access hatches do not properly align. Hence the tight crawling referred to previously. Best way to gain access would be to withdraw the covers while landed and make a new access hole...

Setting up a Hovercart with cameras is certainly possible, and will probably take about 30-45 minutes to set up.

Re: Scouting ahead

Well, until I get orders or am needed elsewhere, I got no better place to be. If you want, Cyril, I can take over here with a squad of men while you help manage the rest of campaign.

[OOC: I'll call up one of the crew to bring up cameras and a hovercraft to begin setting up the "drone".]

Re: Scouting ahead

The only issue is I am not sure how many are in there... might be a few, or maybe the whole crew ... I think we can send thre squads on to aid Duke...  we'll hold the rest until we know what we have... then release them to Duke as well. That should give us some 15+ armed men to use to control this mess.

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 927):

"Right."

Turning to the Vilani sergeants she gives orders for 14 squads to depart immediately for Dukes position, while 3 squads are to secure the prioners in the Assault craft.

She also orders engineering to disengage all clamps holding the assault craft in place, enabling it to drop a few feet to the planets surface below the Dastavka once the troops are ready to secure it.

As long as we're planetside, I'd recommend posting forward positions around the ship and atop this hill we're settled on.

Firing from the hill indicates that Dukes men have made contact with the enemy...Tanya and Mnwa launch in the ships boat to provide fire support while you can hear Duke giving orders to the rest on the ground through the radios.

Capatin, why not take one squad and assist marcus in capturing the Vilani commander. I'll handle things here.

With all senior officers excepting the Captain and Pilot on the ground or laid up (Iliam), I volunteer to go along to take custody of the snarky ass who wouldn't surrender.

I'll hold back one more squad and give Duke 13 of them...want to make sure I outnumber and out gun that assault craft... I'll also secure a supply (say 10-12) limpet mines in case they need encouragement to come out.

Re: Scouting ahead

In reply to Cyril Zotmund (msg # 937):

"Understood."

13 squads are promptly sent to report to Duke, while Cyril keeps 3 squads armed with limpits at the Assault craft. The Dastavka lifts off to collect the enemy commander.

With the limpits you have little trouble opening a couple of new entrances. With 30 troops surrounding the craft, you demands to surrender are this time met by a single officer, who asks to negotiate.

ALLOW HIM TO COME FORWARD Cyril commands

I will negotiate, but expect my demands to be driven by the governor's wishes.
