A lot of money... how long?
I gather the scout in Orbit is not economically repairable... I want out of here ASAP.

"It will take about about 4 days to repair the Dastavka and remove the seats, and an extra 3 days if we do the modifications at the same time. We should check the news feeds to see if anything has come up, too."

I would suggest that monitoring the news feeds is a constant and ongoing process, unless out of range or in the middle of combat (and even then...). I don't know if you've been keepin' up with current events, but we just...

The Empire strikes back

In reply to Carrick Teague (msg # 4):

Current Vilani News, relating to Dingir subsector or Terrans

-Various political discussions relating to piracy. Barbarians (Terrans) blamed.
-Plague outbreaks on Ishkur, Shulmik, Illike, Apishal, and Shulgi. Diseases are thought to originate on Terra.
-Several large corporation blame poor economic performance on rogue traders.
-Rebellion on Saris and Kidashi overthrow governments, Sagarasaar and Khulampi governments succeed in putting down respective rebellions. Administrator Sharik Yangila denies any involvement despite considerable supposed evidence to the contrary. All governors voted against the Administrators proposed tighter regulation of Terran ships in Vilani space recently.

So this was not a single incident, and Saris was one of the Planets we needed to go through if I remember correctly.... likely now a CR 6 location.

"Yes, looks like it. Seems like Yangila is trying to load the regional court with supporters. Given what happened to her predecessor, that is not a silly move if she plans to move on Terra. Saris is the entry to the southern Terran systems...I wonder if things are completely over there?"

OK, I was thinking that you were going to suggest we re-use all those bunks and deliver the 200 mercenaries to Saris...

Kat sits back listening "Well, I guess we have to be careful not to be ugly Terran's but if they really get on us, we might have to move though here and keep going. I like the modifications to the ship.

I am much in favor of the extra armor, but nervous about the situation within Vilani Space. The Governor's repluse of the coup is not going to be popular in some places, and the mention of Terran assistaance is going to be a red flag to many in the Vilani ruling class. In a way, we have strengthened the position of those who feel Terrans are a problem in Vilani worlds..

"Whilst I agree in part, we have also kept some order by helping to put down a rebellion. Whilst we should be OK here, once we get news of our deaths, we should grab our families and get out of Vilani space for a while. Of course, I have always been an advocate of that plan.

The modifications provide the perfect pretext for waiting...
