Re: Character Creation Discussion
Characters don't level in this system, skills improve individually.
If you successfully make a skill roll during an adventure, that skill has a chance to improve.
Example: During one adventure, the beginning and end of which are arbitrarily defined by Uncaring Fate, Yollie shoots 50 people with her bow, makes a Track roll during the hunt for a mountain lion, and makes her Sneak roll 5 times while scouting out a biker camp. At the end of the adventure, she would have one opportunity to improve her Archery skill, her Sneak skill, and her Track skill.
You determine if you improve a skill by rolling your chance to make it. If you make your roll, your character doesn't learn anything new, and your skill stays the same. If you MISS your roll, that means your character has learned something new through experience, and you gain 1D3 more skill points in that skill. I have to check the exact amount, and I'll update.
Stats don't go up in this game. What you have is what you have. This means that your character can become very skilled over time during play, but her body is still only human, just as it was when she first started play. If anyone wants to shift stat points around, now if the time to do it.
