1. Character Concept - Subject to GM Approval
Think of a character concept you would enjoy playing. The setting is a gritty semi-realistic resource-poor Mad Max / Road Warrior environment, so please make sure your concept fits this. No human-alien hybrid techno-ninjas from a secret CIA black ops bunker 10 miles under Area 51 or ultra-deadly SEAL Team 10 Delta Force super commandos who can cut guns in half with their steely gazes. I will disallow any concept I don't think is compatible, so please be prepared to work with me on this.
2. Character stats are:
STR - Strength, how physically strong your character is.
CON - Constitution, how healthy or reluctant to die your character's body is.
SIZ - Size, the character's physical size
INT - Intelligence, how smart the character is. Common sense is up to the player.
POW - Power, the character's force of will and personal magnetism.
DEX - Dexterity, physical coordination, balance and fine control.
APP - Appearance, how physically attractive the character is.
Pick two stats your character is endowed with and one stat your character has better than average, or roll in the dice roller according to the BRP quickstart rules. If you get bad rolls let's talk about it.
3. Pick 3 skills your character is known for being good at, 3 skills he or she is dependably competent at and 2 skills he just isn't very good at. We'll work through which skills the character will end up having when he or she starts play through a GM-player discussion. Be prepared to accept that some characters will start with more skills than others, such as older characters having skills or education that just aren't available to characters growing up since the the Holocaust.
4. Customize your character to work with a group comprised of the other player characters. Make sure your character has a shred of humanity left and a reason to stay with and work with the group. No total psychopaths or disruptive nutballs. Even ultra-loner Mad Max wanted to help the other people in the end. Even the Humongous was a reasonable man.

5. Once we have a group idea fairly settled, talk to me about gear fitting your character concept and your role in the group. There can be more than one person in any given role. Again, some characters will have more gear than others.
6. The final step is a group discussion about where we want to start, then we're done!
