Rules of the game

Character Creation Rules

The game will use Chaosium's Basic Roleplaying set of rules.

- Players have 48 points to spend on starting characteristics.

We are using point based creation (page 19 of the book), which means each of our stats starts at 10, and then you can use your 48 points to increment them, using the following rules:

Each STR, CON, SIZ, or APP characteristic point is worth 1 of these points; each point of DEX, INT, and POW each cost 3 of these points.

You can choose to lower your starting characteristics below the starting value of 10. For each point of STR, CON, SIZ, or APP you reduce below 10, you get another point to spend on other characteristics. For every point of DEX, INT, and POW, you get 3 points back.

No initial characteristic can be raised to higher than 21, and no initial characteristic can be lowered to below 3. Only with a gamemaster’s permission can you raise or lower a starting characteristic beyond this range.

- The only accepted race is Human. Accepted professions are Artist, Assassin, Athlete, Doctor, Engineer, Entertainer, Explorer, Gambler, Hunter, Merchant, Noble, Pilot, Politician, Priest, Sailor, Scholar, Scientist, Servant, Shaman, Slave, Soldier, Spy, Student, Teacher, Technician, Thief, Tribesman, and Warrior.

- Personality, Culture and Skill Bonuses are not used.

- Education is in use, roll 2d6+6.

- Hit points location are in use.

- Fatigue is in use, STR+CON is the starting value.

- Hit Points are determined using the formula CON + SIZ = total HP.

- Skils : For this game , players can distribute 250 points among their selected skills (Normal Level).

- Skill packages for 'special organizations' (base number in brackets where given):

Suk Doctors: Skills: First Aid, Medicine, Persuade, Research, Spot, Insight, Psychotherapy, Science (Cybernetics), Science (Pharmacology),  Imperial Conditioning (90).

Swordmasters of Ginaz: Brawl, Dodge, Command, Energy Weapon, Grapple, Hide, Melee Weapon (any), Martial Arts, Stealth, Listen, Research, Spot.

Bene Geserit: Seduction (50), Self-Control (Body) (50), Self-Control (Mind) (50), Voice Control (50), Diplomacy (25), Etiquette, Martial Arts (50), Appraise, Simulflow (Analytics) (25) , one of the following: Truthsaying, Other Memory (Eidetic Memory, (see page 116) but limited to own female bloodline), Command.

Mentats: Research, Knowledge, Strategy, Etiquette, Insight, Eidetic Memory (see page 116), Simulflow (Analytics) (50).

- Characters cannot have Powers.

Notes

The DM reserves the right to veto any characters not deemed adequate for the adventure envisaged, and players are wise to consult with the DM regarding any character ideas prior to full character creation.

Posting Rules

There is no set minimum posts, though, in order to enhance the role playing experience , players are welcome to posts as much as they can and want.

If a player is executing a well defined action (example : character tries to spot hidden clues in a room), they can roll for that skill. Other actions may be rolled by the DM, in order to enhance the flux of the game.

As a general convention, unspoken thoughts should be shown in italics , OOC text in orange. Spoken sentences should be shown in a colour of the players choice, in order to make them more visible in the message text.
