Re: OOC Talk
I'm here, though I have to admit I've let my reading up on ships, naval warfare, and related terminology get in the way of posting.

Fun fact: Ship cannons can be distinguished not just by caliber but also by length, and ammunition. This seems obvious if you're familiar with firearms, but it's something I hadn't considered. For example; the carronade, a heavy cannon with a very short barrel, weighing as little as a third of the weight of a long gun with the same caliber that fires a heavy shot with a comparatively short range that was often carried by smaller vessels; the long nine, typically a nine pounder (hence the name), which on the other hand had a very long barrel providing it with a long range, usually mounted on the fore or aft; ammunition was also diverse, ranging from regular round shot to shotgun-esque canister shots, chain shots, though perhaps deadliest all was the Canon Paixhans constructed by the French in the final years of the Age of Sail, the first cannon to fire explosive shells, which proved devastating enough to wooden warhips that the introduction of ironclads.

EDIT June 18th: Pardon any spelling or formatting errors made in the next few days; I'll be posting from my phone.

I'll do a check, who knows, maybe you'll get a company of riflers aiming at you while a witch shouts at you.

Re: OOC Talk
They're, from what I understand, basically the King's personal investigative force.

Federal investigator types, rather than local authorities. From what I understand, it's a cross between being a detective, a US marshal, and perhaps a state sponsored minion.

I investigate things, I can organize posses and request resources in pursuit of my warrant if it is deemed reasonable(I think), and I do as I am told?

Re: OOC Talk
That's about right. They evolved from the need to hire bounty hunters to bring in criminals-- and a need for those bounty hunters to not themselves be criminals. They have a reputation for being highly eccentric, exceedingly ruthless and undeniably effective.

I saw that as well, and right away I thought "wow, that'd make for an excellent game"

Actually now that i think about it, sort of reminds me of NWod's Innocents.

Well, aside the captain, we're still all here, so if the GM was waiting for him too...theoretically we can just continue?

Re: OOC Talk
Game isn't dead, family member just had a drug relapse. Sorry I didn't let you know what was up earlier.

In any case, I'm thinking we need to push things along-- I'm waiting for word back from Victor to see if he's still around.

Is there anymore introduction stuff you'd like to do before we set the Saint of Cadiz out on the open sea?

That's a tough thing for everybody - sorry to hear it. Hope the family is doing alright, and yeah, no problem; family should definitely come first.

I know I'm all finished up, ready for tonight's meal!
