Alrighty! It looks like we have four people ready to get started. Why don't you all introduce your character concepts and we can start putting together the premise for the group? A lot of you are Ybarian so having a naval game isn't out of the question.

Re: OOC Talk
I'll go first then?

My concept is pretty simple, storm sorceress and former privateer now pressed in to honest service to avoid the gallows.

Re: OOC Talk
Alasdiar Cromartie is pretty simple, he was former solider of the Varlander army. A transport ship with his unit was attacked, he survived but has sworn a vengeance on pirates.

Re: OOC Talk
Hello there!

I will be playing Amelia Salazar, a Ybarian noble-woman turned diplomat turned spy. Classwise, she'll be an illusionist wizard starting with a level of rogue.

Re: OOC Talk
Howdy, folks.

I will be playing Valejo Vargas - or maybe Vargas Valejo, which has a somewhat nicer ring to it - an Ybarian scoundrel who happens to be just proficient enough in that most fashionable style of fencing, the Steel Tempest, that he has able to make a decent living teaching spoiled young foreign nobles in the art. He's definitely no master, but he's charming and clever enough to fake it -- at least abroad. Unfortunately, his current patron, having taken a liking to him, intends to draft him into their army in preparation for their upcoming march against their neighbors, the rebels, the crown, or what have you.

Or at least, that was the plan and the gist of what I suggested in my RTJ. If we're back in Ybaria or at sea... I suppose it's back to the drawing board.

Perhaps a sailor -- yes, a sly and handsome knave who might well have stepped right out of one of the plays in the theater, with a cutlass in one hand, a bottle of rum in the other, and pearly whites that could charm the petticoat off of even the most prudish aldonnada. Or a Caelish nobleman born in the wrong country, with not so much an appreciation as an unapologetic fetish for the Ybarian way of life; a man - or is he a woman? It's hard to tell from the dresses he likes to wear every so often - who lives with such excess as to frighten even some of the locals, a bon vivant the likes of which the world has never seen -- Mother's own prototype, too weird to live, and too rare to die. Or maybe an exiled rebel from the cold and frozen north, fleeing the so-called justice of the crown; grim and taciturn, angry at the whole of the world for defeating him and angry at himself for failing his kinsmen, as liable to break a chair over your head as he is to grunt and turn back to his drink, always looking for any and every opportunity to share his misery with the rest of us -- just give him an excuse.

Re: OOC Talk
Here are my thoughts so far, tell me what you think.

- The group will be crew aboard the HMS "Saint of Cadiz", a recently christened frigate with a newly commissioned Captain Arthur Hensley.

- He has been tasked with two things;
1) Hunt down the "Cormorant" which is suspected of being behind the recent sinking of a Varlander transport. One of the only survivors of that attack--Alasdiar Cromartie--has been reassigned to the "Saint of Cadiz" to confirm and identify the "Cormorant".

2) Delivery Amelia Salazar, an Ybarian diplomat and representative of the Viceroy, to the city of Falstead in the Giant Bone Islands. By all accounts she has some secret mission, there.

- A member of the Kingsmen--The Crow's character--is being offered years off her compulsary service if she protects Salazar or aids in the apprehension of the "Cormorant" and her Captain.

- Cato's character might be crew, another member of the Kingsmen attachment aboard the "Saint of Cadiz", or something else depending on which character concept he decides.

What do you think?

I've also made your character sheets editable, let me know if it isn't. Once your character sheet is finalized, I'll set up a Prologue thread if you'd like. Once everyone is ready, I'll set up the first group thread.

Looks like I screwed up character sheets. Should be fixed now. Message me when it is done so I can review it-- Standard Array or 27 point buy as per the PHB. Any questions let me know.

Re: OOC Talk
I've gotten a couple questions so I'll clarify them here;

1) No Feat at first level, unfortunately.

2) Begin at level 1, but expect to level up quickly. Everyone will get individual Prologue threads, handling some major event before getting on the "Saint of Cadiz".

3) After your Prologue is done, jump right to level 3 for the "Saint of Cadiz".

That sound good/make sense to everyone?

I have added a second map of Ybaria, that has locations and names listed. Let me know if you can't see it.

Level 3 is an excellent starting point for the core game. I concur!
