Re: Reign of Winter Game Part 1 Act1:      Snows of Summer
Seeing her arrow and her team mates weapons are not damaging the creature even when it would surely have hit Shiki takes another tack. She conjures up an image of the sprite near where it fell and attempts to fool the elemental into thinking it wants the elemental to come toward the sprite.

OOC:
DC = 11 to resist the illusion.

Re: Reign of Winter Game Part 1 Act1:      Snows of Summer
Rhogar, Silverleaf, and Heskan all miss hurting the being. However, Dulcet sends another painful thunderous blast from her instrument and the elemental is unable to fend it off. It explodes in a windy moan and everyone feels their body buffeted by the windy death.

Snow resumes its normal slow fall from the sky and around you lies a dead sprite and a crater in the snow where the elemental once was. You pant a moment and catch your breath and check yourselves for injury.

After resting a moment you follow the snowy trail down through the waist deep snow. The sun only vaguely illuminates the valley. But the light is enough to see ahead an icy structure from which snow is blowing forth at an alarming rate. It appears as if something exploded ice there. Ahead seems to be some sort of encampment made of igloos but it is tough to tell what they are exactly. Behind them visibility is almost at zero. You can only see 5' in front of you once you descend deep enough into the valley. You mentally remember the general location of the first igloo of the camp.

Here it is noisy. Where before the snow created insulation of sound now the icy structure bellowing forth snow and ice screeches loudly. Steps here initially hold, but as you press weight on each snow shoe the thin layer of ice gives way and you sink down a foot.

OOC:
Even with the snow shoes your movement is now reduced to 50% normal. You can only move 15' a round if you move 30' normally, and 10' if you normally move 20'.

As always, if you want to search an area or monsters please let me know otherwise I assume you don't care to.

"If I know one thing about portals," Dulcet offers, teeth chattering even with her ring and furs, "you always have to close them or go through them to do the same."

Instinctively, she moves away from the artic mouth and towards the igloos, intent on scavenging and having James ignite their portable samovar within the most hospitable of the lot.

Silverleaf walks over to the fallen sprite and contemplates stuffing it in his backpack.  It would look nice hanging on his wall of his cabin but he instead just searches it. The wood elf keeps an ear out for any noises he may hear of other sounds of the ice.

Rhogar examines the portal.  "Likely the source of this unusual weather."  The dragonborn searches his memories for thoughts about how to close it from this end.

"If we need to head through it, perhaps these igloos hold supplies that may aid us."

15:25, Today: Rhogar of Clan Jaxendalith rolled 16 using 1d20+3.  Arcane: Portals.

Silverleaf holds up a small stick, almost sad looking at the little fairy.  Why do they have to be so evil "Dulcet, come look at this.  I think it is a wand the little sprite was holding.  Also it had a purple gem if anyone can tell what it is worth."

Kneeling in the deep snow, Heskan prayed to Tyr for insight and scanned the blustering surroundings for fiends.

Use Divine Sense - locate any celestial, fiend or undead (that isn't behind total cover), and the presence of any consecrated or desecrated objects or areas, within 60 feet.

Divine Sense uses remaining: 1/3

"Shiki, Shiki," hisses Dulcet.

"Over there," she waves in less than helpful fashion in the direction of the igloos.

"Things move," she adds, by way of explanation, no longer exactly cogent with her attention captured by the wand.

Re: Reign of Winter Game Part 1 Act1:      Snows of Summer
Shiki hops to it hearing Dulcet's suggestion. It is, after all her job to be sneaky. Doing her best Shiki crouches low and catches her snowshoe on a twig sticking out of the snow. She digs her toe in and is forced to loudly crunch through the snow toward the camp.

Once there Shiki is unable to see much more than before. The snow is too obscuring. She crunches back to her friends and reports the disappointing findings.

OOC:
08:47, Today: GM, on behalf of Shiki Bloodleaf, rolled 8 using 1d20+5.  Stealth to sneek and observe.

This assumes neither Heskan nor Dulcet reports anything surprising. I'm also assuming we're coming from the southeast.

Seeing that Silverleaf has already checked the sprite's corpse, Patau waits their scout's return. When Shiki has nothing to report, Patau observes, "Sometimes the simple ways are best." Drawing her sword, she enters the field and tries to find the igloo on the right from the entrance to the snowfield.

Shiki draws her bow and follows Patau. "I agree in this snow it'll be tough to see and hear us. Direct is better." However, as soon as she nears the igloos again shiki attempts to use the snow as cover and hides herself and sneaks around the igloo.

OOC:
14:59, Today: GM, on behalf of Shiki Bloodleaf, rolled 14 using 1d20+5.  Stealth check again.

The group follows patau and arms themselves. So as not to draw too much attention you stagger your formation and hug to the right side of the woods at the edge of the trail.

Shiki slips off and disappears from your view.

When you close in on the mouth of the igloo opening you do not see the movement Dulcet was describing. However, warmth is coming from inside the igloo as well as light. You assume a crackling fire and some inhabitants are warming themselves from within.

The Igloo tot he left also has a fire inside of it. The light leaking out of the igloo entrance.

Rhogar examined the wand and grunted.  "Most days, I could open my third eye and peer into the magical energies that power the wand, but this day I find myself running short...and feeling like I should conserve what power I have left for another fight."
