In reply to Dienton (msg # 165):

ooc: Sorry, missed your post earlier

Forim says "Checking" as he switches terminals again and checks the internal sensors

00:12, Today: Forim Luk rolled 4 successes, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 2d.  Rolling Computers.
GM: please fill in info for Dienton's request

Mission 2: Lonely Moof

Forim continues to scan the ship's internal sensors and Holocam feeds. He finally finds engineering.

Inside engineering, he sees a black and silver R2 with a white spiral on its dome. The droid is outside the turbolift. It seems to be using its welder to affix the turbolift doors closed.

When it has finished its job, it wheels over to the left. It plugs itself into an access terminal.

On his monitor Forim can see the droid accessing the ship's hanger Bay doors.

Mission 2: Lonely Moof

"It's the droid! he just welded the door shut.  It's trying to open the hanger doors!" he says on the open com, a bit of panic in his voice

Thinking outside the box, Forim tries to access the power controls.  If he can send a surge of power to that port, he might just be able to disable the droid. "I am going to end that little droid" he mutters to himself as he executes the program

00:52, Today: Forim Luk rolled 2 successes, 3 threats using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 3d.  Rolling Computers.

Success! A surge of power lances into the terminal the droid is using. Unfortunately, the power surge is starting a cascade failure...

ooc: Threats as stun and have my console explode too, maybe extra damage from the console exploding?  let me know if that works for you GM.  I am happy to go full unconscious if it takes the droid out too!

On the holocam, Forim watches with some satisfaction as an electrical discharge feeds back into the droid. Its spiral-painted dome spins, like an old-fashioned hypnosis disc.

Unfortunately, he seems to have triggered some process in the console. Now the system is running an automated diagnostic. This takes up some of its processing power, making further commands more difficult.

Upgrade next check's difficulty by 1.

Ikki drew his new axe over his head, hefting the heavy blade high above his head and brought it down across the door, the vibro blade of the axe hitting along the weld spots before pulling it back. Nodding at the result of his attack. Rather proud of it.

Ikki Sorlock rolled 4 successes, 2 threats using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 2p 1a 2d ((3(P), 4(P), 3(A), 6(D), 5(D))).

The door cracks open and servos whine. With a snap, the last of the welds are broken. The Rebels enter the engineering room.

The only occupant is the R2 droid. It withdraws from the wall socket, still smoking from being electrified.

I dont know if the system is up or down, but I am going to use my advantages to get a list of systems that might have been affected by the droid.  Not how they are affected (good or bad) just which ones have been modified.

And there you have it.  Parts for the Imperial Navy.  Caddy flips the comm so the others can here.  <"Droid parts for the Imperial Navy eh.   No wonder Black Sun are a little 'upset' with you.  Either you're freelancing or someone has lead you astray.  Same me the effort of delving into your Nav computer.  Where are you taking them?">

[Note sure what's with the dice.... :-)

So I fail to decieve/charm once again, but I have loads of advantages to get 'some' information from her - even if it isn't exactly where the droid parts are destined.

19:00, Today: Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu rolled 1 failure, 7 advantages using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1a 1b 2p 3d.  Deception or Charm.

The droid collapses. Pieces of its chassis shatter. Through the smoking hole in its cylindrical body you can see some of its internal mechanisms are burned. The R2 is totally offline. Its hypnowheel dome lolls sadly.

Meanwhile,

Caddy looks into the face of the captain and sees speculation. The captain purses her lips.

"I don't think you work for Black Sun, after all. I don't think they've ever heard of you. You're just a bunch of pirates. You're going to loot the ship, maybe take us for ransom, sell the droid back into service, and try to unload the cargo. Too bad, . No one is going to buy it. Every black marketeer from here to Kuat is going to be looking for this load."

It is at this point that the Navicomputer data finishes downloading into your device. Stripped of the junk data that the R2 put in, it didn't take very long. As soon as you connect it to another navicomputer, you will have the data that you need.

Forim says "Download Complete" into his comlink as he takes the datapad out of the socket and puts it in his flight suit pockets.

Forim then slowly begins running diagnostic checks on anything that has been modified outside of safety parameters, or any safety checks disabled.  Any that he finds disabled, he re-initializes.

17:24, Today: Forim Luk rolled 5 successes using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 2d 1b.  Rolling Computers.

Sucessfully bringing the ship back into its standard procedure he steps back from the terminal and jogs over to Caddy, offering her silent support.

"Well, you right about at least one thing...."  She smiles, "Though I'm 'sad' to report that the droid is no more.  He may be able to be sold for scrap but not much more."  Hopefully a 'final' nail the Captain's coffin and with Forim joining her she adds, "Well, time's up."  She looks to the crew, "Anything more to add before we do as the Captain suggested and scuttle this ship?"  Yarr - pirate talk!

While they are making any final decision on the matter she hands Forim the Weequay Security Chief's keycard and whispers, "Best find out what that gets us."

"Let's start with the droid parts."  And with that she'll head for the cargo hold intent on moving the collected parts into their own hold.  The tactical knowledge of the imperial droid would definitely be useful to the Rebels.

[08:29, Today: Caddanra 'Caddy' Manitu rolled no successes, 1 advantage, 1 triumph using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 1a 2p 2b 3d.  Deception on all Crew.

So 3d for the crew with the Captain and Chief.   1B for Forim's help, 1B carried.

The dice just aren't on my side atm.   So I don't deceive them but again, a triumph to ensure that while I don't appear as practically ruthless as I'd like, the crew probably see me as a source of 'survival' and are willing to help out / point out something we might have missed.]

Unfortunely he is unable to find the files to delete them

"Your blaster is set to stun," one of the crew says helpfully to Forim. The other crewmembers glare at him.

Captain Vinjagga calls out haltingly. "W-wait. If you're going to scuttle the ship, at least put us in the ship's escape pods. It won't take you long, and it won't cost anything."

****

Dienton fails to delete the computer files. As he tries to work on them, he accidentally deletes all active memory. The ship's lights flicker.

You are about to collect the droid and head back. When the door to the crew quarters open, water begins to spill in.

The water crackles and shimmers, as though conducting electricity.

Onyx moves to try and get on to one of the computers before the electric water hits.

Onyx rolled 3 successes, 1 threat using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3a 1b 2d.  coordination.

He pulls it off, diving onto the top of the computers just as the water splashes by. Unfortunately for Onyx he came in a little to fast, and hit his head on the top of the computer. Not enough to do any real damage, but enough to shake him.

Onyx takes one strain.

Caddy has to school her face to not laugh at the crewman's suggestion, "I think we're ok for the moment, Quartermaster...."  That spoken to Forim (See, she is trying!) before she turns to the Captain having 'found a weakness', "Now that could be arranged.   But the question is... what is it worth to you?"   If the Captain wanted something, now was her time to negotiate and Caddy would 'play along' for the time being.

[Negotiation with the Captain.  3D.  1B carried, 1B from Forim's threat.

Well, that's not bad.  3 successes, a triumph and an advantage.  I'll save the blue dice for Forim or I and see what the Triump brings.  Maybe the Captain really is willing to hand herself over to save her crew?]

Dienton and Onyx get atop consoles or furniture. Ikki does as well, but gets a foot in the water first. An electric shock runs through his leg, causing pain & spasms.

The Rebels in Engineering are forced to take positions on objects, hoping the water won't get too high. Fortunately, it only seems to be a centimeter deep or so. It washes across the metallic floor, and electricity arcs from the water to nearby conductive objects.

As it reaches the recumbent wreck of the R2, the electricity discharges itself into his metal-and-plasteel frame. Shocks pop and the paint begins to burn.

****

The captain hesitates, then sighs. "If you look in my quarters, under the trunk, you'll find my personal cache. It's hard to see, but if you are careful you'll find the edges. This trip I've got some black market design specs. They were stolen from Antilles BioGen and I think they'll sell to a competing company."

She grits her teeth. "There's also the ship's slush fund in there. But it's in a bio-metrically-locked box. It'll only open if I'm alive."

Caddy remains silent for a few moments more, "Thank you, Captain.  I'm glad you've finally come to your senses.  Your crew will thank you for it."  She stands adding to the crew, "Behave.  Your Captain has earned you all a reprieve.  If I come back to find you've caused trouble, that reprieve is forfeit."  And with that, she'll help the captain to her feet, "To your quarters then, Captain."   Before she leaves she adds for Forim's benefit, "We need to confirm what that key card accesses - and given the captain's history," she says this while the captain can hear, "we probably want a blaster pointed at her head while we're doing this.  She'll all out of chances given how many she's squandered along the way."

That done, she heads for the captain's quarters (though will delay briefly if Forim wants to check the keycard's access - and give him a few pointers!
