Zeic sets down in the wet brush.  He remains still and tries to get his bearings and makes sure all of his gear in is order.  He appears to have weathered the trip just fine.

"Well, if we want to avoid wet ground, that spot is a bad idea.  With the curve of the hill, there should be some run off.  I think we should go there" he says pointing to a spot nestled next to a cliff a bit of a hike from the watefall.  It should provide good tree cover and be hard to see.

Xyklo flicks the datapad back to some Trandoshan hard rock, gunning the speeder along fifty yards back from the canyons edge. The wind whips his antenna back against his head, dust spraying his goggles face. He didn’t bother driving stealthy, if anything trying to draw attention.
Allowing the heavy melody to direct his adrenaline, he tried not to think about Forim and the gang descending exposed into the ravine.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The Rebel team crosses the canyon with difficulty. They keep walking across flat ground only to find that it is water coated with plants. They take refuge on rocks that are resting balanced on other rocks, which causes them to slip and fall into the water again. The highlight moment is when Anders accidentally disturbs a nest of stinging insects, and the rest of the journey is completed at a run.

You see many small, less than half a meter long,  semi-humanoid amphibians swimming around in the water. They look a bit like Geik with large tails and only tiny legs. They pop up to grab at geckos and bugs, then back into the water with a flick of their tails.

Once in awhile you see a more developed Geik. They are small, only a half meter in height, but scamper with great speed. They lurk in shadows and behind trees, scurrying away as soon as tbey are spotted.

When the Rebels finally reach the opposite canyon wall, they commlink communicate with Xyklo. You work together to find a good spot to climb, then Xyklo lets down a rope.

Everything that makes the rocks hard to climb down makes them doubly so on the climb up. You take more caution on the loose rocks this time, and the rope is very helpful.

1d 1c athletics. one free upgrade for using the rope, 1b for recent experience. 1b for Xyklo's help.  1 Strain for every failure on Survival. regain 1 Strain for every Advantage. 1s on Athletics if you had at least 2 threats.

With a rope between his hands Anders was surprisingly more agile up the side of the canyon and makes it to the top without any major incidents. He does his best to help anyone following him.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Xyklo rigs the far end of the rope to the tailgate of the speeder bike. If his friends got ambushed while harnessed to a rope halfway up the ravine, he'd be able to get them clear, fast. Yep, it may get bumpy, but they'd get up.

In the meantime he covers the ascent with blaster rifle, and a helping hand. Casually he flicks the datapad from Trando metal, to something more calming, a Coruscant orchestral classic, depicting a love story from the Old Republic, he couldn't remember it's name.

The Verpine points south.
”Rivers that way. We can hydrate properly if we camp nearby, it’s running water I’d guess, so less biting insects.
Be nice to clean some of the gear too.”

Xyklo looks to Forim to confirm the suggestion, he was the CO after all.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The river is wider than the ones already crossed, but the same technique works. Two Rebels cross on the speeder bike, then one brings it back to pick up a third. By this means the river is crossed in only a few minutes, without even getting too wet.

Once you have crossed, you note that the speeder bike's power indicator is flashing. It is running out of energy, and will soon be a useless hunk of metal. Without the means to refuel it, you are forced to abandon the bike.

Spending a Dark Side point.
There are trees on this side of the river, and they get thicker the further south you go. Soon they are so numerous that you cannot easily see the sky. The trees are thin and soft. Most of them are different kinds of green, although many are also red or orange. The brush is thin, mostly composed of thick and squirrelly vines on the trees.

You hear chittering and chirping from birds and small beasts. The branches are alive with jumping and fluttering. The bugs are thick, and you find yourselves slapping and waving constantly. The trick you used earlier has worn off.

Resistance 2d. Failure is Strain.
Threats will be 2:1 setbacks on next roll.

Anders trudged along as best as he could as they made their way through the under brush. He had refilled the canteens and any other vessels that could hold water at the river.

As they stopped to complete the task Anders took a moment to scan around their location for any obvious imperial presence or the like.

Xyklo exhaled at the energy warning light on the bike, things were about to get tiring. Parking the stolen speeder under some thicker foliage he gave it a quick once over for useful parts before loading himself up.

The trek through the vines was tough, and the extra rifle did keep getting in the way, though perhaps his carahide put the insects off as he didn’t get bitten much.

OOC: Today: Xyklo Voozul rolled 2 successes, 2 threats using the Star Wars Edge of the Empire with a dice pool of 3A 2D 2S ((3(A), 4(A), 5(A), 7(D), 6(D), 4(S), 2(S))).
I’ll take the setback on whatever is next!

If the bike has a removable ammo clip I will take it.

Forim says "Lets go south until we get passed these trees, then we will go east over the river and follow it down to that lake.

Lets aim for that flat topped mountain over there.  I am betting that will hold what we look for.
"

Luckily for Forim, his space suit was providing him enough cover that the few insects that got a bit in did not cause him much trouble.

Forim replies "Flight Officer" in perfect unity with Xyklo as the Verpine remembered of his own volition.  Offering a genuine smile he says "Honestly, no.  But to be honest, it will probably be something along the lines of stealing a ship and making a run for it.  It would probably be too much to ask for a ship to be waiting for us at the top of that mountain dont you think?" he says with a wry smile on his face.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The Rebel team sets off approximately south east. In unknown country they must be careful not to get turned around, or risk adding considerably to the distance and time they must travel.

One Survival roll. all others may assist.

At least travelling in the forest makes foraging easier. You find plenty of nuts and berries to snack on as you travel.

Like sensible anarchists you always have your guard up. You can't help but feel that you are being watched, but it's hard to be sure.

everyone vigilance 2c. this is where you will use boosts or setbacks.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

Xyklo enjoys the forest. The sounds, the trees, the constant presence of life.

That us before the memories of his life before joining the rebellion kick home. Dropping into a low crouch, antenna flattened to the back of his head, with more firearms than one man should reasonably carry, its as if he expects to be jumped at any point. Muttering semi coherent curses at imagined stormtroopers hiding among the trees, he scouts a few yards ahead of the group darting from cover to cover, and quite clearly in a world of his own!

Anders did his beast to find additional nourishment as they walked through the trees so to keep his rations for a real emergency. it was rather pleasant in the end if you disregard the chance of instant death from above or that at this point they had no way off the planet.

Re: M4 WG: Harsh Climates

The forest is full of rustling, mostly caused by the wind or a few animals attending their errands. Something catches Xyklo's eyes, just a little bit more purposeful of movement than the usual jostling of a bush. At his words, you spread out and check the area. Moments later, you find what appears to be a camouflaged hideout. The brush is pushed aside to form a little Culvert over a slightly Dugout bit of dirt. It would be excellent camouflage for someone hiding, and keeping an eye on this area. You might have passed within only a few meters and never seen it, save that whoever was most recently in it left just as you were passing. The ground is still warm where someone was lying. You even see a few Footsteps in the soft dirt from where they stood up and ran off.

You are not alone in this Forest.

Xyklo drops into a crouch, and slides under the undergrowth. He tries to track every sound with his rifle sights, it’s impossible.
We’re he alone he would simply go to ground, sneak around, see who cracked first. But with the others the slow game wouldn’t work.
”Get down,” he hisses, a touch of panic breaking his voice, his face barely visible now under a heavy dark red leaf.
