Re: Prologue
When Vincent started to talk, Mike looked over his shoulder to listen more carefully at him. It was probably a mistake now that Mikael was free but at the time, he didn't realized it, probably reassured by Patricia's earlier word about the boy being no threat.

A bit surprised, Mike stood up and moved in the direction of the door. "Hu... Sure. I'm coming." he said while passing the door to move outside of the room.

Re: Prologue
Patricia didn't answer Vincent and she didn't follow Mike immediately. She needed to take a few instants to check Mikael's wrists. The cuffs left some red marks, bruises and scratches, but nothing severe. She pushed the boy's chin with the tip of her fingers, making him look away, so she could inspect the jaw. "You'll be fine." she said, confirming what she already said about it.

She lifted the chocolate and opened it in such a way he shouldn't have any trouble with the paper next time - that was enough for monkeys to understand, it should be enough for him - and gave him the whole. "I'll see you later for some vaccines. You probably won't like me anymore afterwards..." she told him with a chuckle.

And then only, Pat exited the room. She closed the door behind her and faced Vincent, her arms crossed on her almost flat chest. "I'm listening." she said, foreseeing some more troubles.

Re: Prologue
"I have some intel for you Pat first"

Vincent looked the women in her eyes. His square jaw set firmly,

"Mikhal's mother fled from a drug lord nine years ago. She picked a horrible place to take refuge though. I am judging by the fact that the boy is alone, it's a safe bet that his mother is most likely dead. Her boat was found riddled with bullets but no bodies. That's all we have on him. When we get back we can hand him over to the Costa Rican government. Unless you want to adopt him."

Keying open his mic to get all the members,

"Attention Expedition, I have urgent information. Four speedboats loaded with people broke the blockade. We have no information about who they are or if they are aware of the expedition. I want all of you to prepare for possible contact. Avoid confrontation but if drawn into one, self defense is allow. Open for questions."

Re: Prologue
Pat's eyes rounded. "Nine years." she repeated, astonished. It was fitting her guess yet Vincent was expressing it as a fact. And it was impressive. "Dead for sure." she confirmed, taking her proof from Mika's speech quality. "And she probably died after a very short time..."

:Vincent Vanrosen:
"When we get back we can hand him over to the Costa Rican government. Unless you want to adopt him."

The woman let out a strangled noise. Vincent would have slapped her right on the spot her surprise wouldn't be bigger. "Hell no." she replied, so fast it sounded like a physical reflex. She didn't add anything more. It was very clear in her mind, she wasn't... doing that kind of things... children. That was weird. How could Vincent even have this stupid idea?

His following words were much more serious. "Enemies until proved otherwise?" she supposed, not even hiding her disapproval. "How do we organize? Settling here is safe, but the mission require to go out there. Four speedboats, you said? They could be outnumbering us! We can't split the group... but I don't want to lose this place."

Re: Prologue
Nine years ? Mike was impressed to know this little guy had survived that long on his own for so many years in such a dangerous place. Not many adults could have done the same.

He was also surprised by Patricia's reaction to the idea of handing Mikael to the Costa Rican government. He looked at her out of the corner of his eyes and a stupid smile started to draw on his face. Yet, he said nothing and preferred to shut up, listening to what Vincent had to add. Nothing that he already knew from the moment he cough the base on the radio.

Re: Prologue
Vincent nodded. "Yes. We stay here as planned, just keep an eye out. How's the boy? Will we be able to move him or is he to big of a threat?"

Cassandra was in the room, she was a member of the expedition to help record the events and write up a report for the news broadcast when the park announcements were made. She would be the "lead hostess" more or less. Why she came? Who really knew...

Re: Prologue
Mike nodded as well. "Right, we will secure our position then." He then looked at Pat and at Vincent again. "I'm not a doctor but it looks like the boy is going well. Is he a threat, I don't however. But we could see give him some sedative if needed."

OOC : Trying to answer for Pat as I'm not sure she will be able to do it soon.

Re: Prologue
Patricia smirked. "Try not to attack him and he won't attack you." she said, glancing both at Vincent and Mike. "He's a boy, but regarding social interactions, I suggest you consider him as a wild animal. I mean... he grew up with dinosaurs, his survival instinct has to be pretty ticklish."

She scratched her head. "Back to our problem: what's the plan? I know how to deal with wild threats, hide and wait for the right opportunity to run away, but this... this is nothing of my field."
She was staring at the army boys, her thin arms crossed on her flat chest. If a decision had to be made before they all got stuck in here, it had to be made fast.

Re: Prologue
"Grew up with dinosaurs, how very strange."

Cassandra hadn't meant for her voice to carry quite so much, but she didn't look apologetic.  She never looked apologetic.  She looked every part the adventure-ready bombshell, a redhead in tight jean shorts and a snug white tank top, showing more cleavage than was strictly necessary.  Her red hair had been gathered into a ponytail, and at least her boots were actual hiking boots, sturdy and serviceable.  One had the impression they'd seen her before somewhere, perhaps on a billboard or a commercial?

She hadn't come alone, either.  Her assistant stood with her in the corner, a slim girl with pale skin and black hair, and a pair of black-rimmed glasses.  She wore jeans and a black tank top, and had a sturdy backpack sitting at her feet.  She was holding a small video camera, recording as the people debated a course of action.

Re: Prologue
The boy nibbled away at the chocolate bar and the various other foods he had been given. He made quite a mess of it all, too. Mikael looked towards the door that Pat had left through. He was alone now but he was used to being along. He, however, was not used to being in such a place. It was odd but it did not seem frightening. Pat had told him that she would return so he would wait and try to be a good boy until then.

His face was a mess of chocolate, as were his hands. He licked at them as he sat there, waiting. The chocolate was good and he was even seemingly purring. He certainly was far more feral than anything but he was still a good boy when others were not approaching him threateningly. He had only attacked before because he was scared and hungry and they had invaded his territory.

Re: Prologue
After some hesitation, Mike answered to Pat's concern about the procedure to follow. "We are in a secured position. They might know we are on the island, it's a possibility that we can't neglect but they don't know where we are exactly. I suggest that we stay hid in the bunker as long as it's possible so you can take care of Mikael."

He paused a few second to look at the two women. "Maybe Cassandra would like to assist you. In the meantime, I will assure that we are ready to welcome our new friends if it should end like that."

Re: Prologue
"If it's your only reason, Mike, I suggest you to reconsider." Pat said with a frown. "I truly believe he has better chances of survival here than any of us."
But once again, she had to admit she had no experience in this kind of thing. And after all, as far as she was concerned, the dinosaurs appeared more dangerous than the newcomers. Staying inside felt indeed safer. She sighed and nodded, giving some kind of agreement that was more an understanding.

Mike Ladori:
"Maybe Cassandra would like to assist you."

Pat replied faster than her brain processed the suggestion. "Oh hell no."
Her arms remained crossed but her eyes closed realizing how the words went out of her mouth so loud. Bah, now it was too late. "He grew up in the wild, just her perfume would be enough to stun his senses." she explained, barely hiding her despise for that woman more fit to stand in front of a camera than in a forest full of dangerous flesh-eaters. "And I don't want to imagine anything about hormones." she even added.

Re: Prologue
Even as Pat spoke, Cassandra already had a look of disgust on her face.  "Help with that thing?" she echoed.  Pat's comment registered a moment later, earning a scowl from Cassandra.  Even when scowling, her face looked perfect.

"If that thing has hormones, he'd better stay the hell away from me.  I don't want to have to hurt him," she said, walking closer towards Mike.  Was it intentional the way she was swaying her hips with every step?  The way she angled her breasts?  Or was it just habit?  "I think that Mike gives us the best chance to survive with his guns.  Dinosaurs aren't bulletproof, and whoever's coming to the island probably doesn't know we're here."

Lacey kept completely silent, though she had her camera trained on the whole thing.

Re: Prologue
When seeing the two women reaction, Mike made a step backward instinctively. Women... They were probably worse than dinosaurs.

"Well, well. Do what you want. If you think you will better handle Mikael alone Pat, then go on. It looks like it pleases Cassandra too. If you need my help though, just ask." Mike wasn't a great fan of the wild boy but after their last meeting, he started to appreciate him a bit more for what he was, a young boy.

"I will just ask you to not go outside without informing me first. I don't want to take any risk."

As Mike drew back, a small smile crossed Cassandra's lips.  The thought that the man with the gun was uncomfortable around her seemed to amuse her.  "Don't worry.  I'm not going exploring," she said.

Re: Prologue
Pat rolled her eyes so obviously it had to end up on Lacey's tape. "I wansn't specifically talking about his hormones." she commented faintly. She was already tired of this. Why was she discussing strategy? He for sure knew better than her. There was no point into having to bear this woman's presence.

She uncrossed her arms, only to raise her hands in surrender. "Let me know if situation change, I have other things to do." she said, impatient to leave them.
If Mike never looked like an alpha to Pat who rather figured Vincent at this place in their group, Cassandra was definitely behaving like a beta. And the vet didn't really want to see that.
"I'll be with the boy, making sure we can move with him without issue. We never know."
The slender blonde dropped the two other humans to their social game and walked away with long steps.

She found Mika done with meal.
"Did you really try to eat it or were you trying to spread everything on your cheeks?" she asked him with a chuckle.
She settled close to him and handed him another candy. She was rubbing her eyes with exhaustion. Days were growing long.

Re: Prologue
Mikael perked up when the door to the room he was in opened and Pat reappeared. Her smiled brightly, having seemed to warm up to Pat quite a bit. He seemed to purr lightly. The boy looked down at the tray and then at his hands when Pat spoke.

"Paaaat!" he greeted.

He was then quiet for a moment, thinking.

"Mi-Mikael...Mikael eat..." he said, trying to say that he had eaten it or at least attempted to.

Mikael purred more as he licked at the chocolate on his hands. He had really seemed to enjoy the chocolate more than everything else. He noticed the new candy bar and accepted it before beginning to nibble upon the treat. It was soon after that he noticed that something was wrong.

"Paaaat...?" he asked, worried.

Re: Prologue
Cassandra watched Pat leave.  Jealousy is an ugly emotion, she thought to herself, a slight smirk on her lips.  She didn't say it, that would be petty.  She brushed a strand of red hair back from her face, and turned her attention to her assistant Lacey.

The girl had black hair down to her chin, and a pair of black-rimmed glasses framed her eyes.  She had the camera lowered, and she was checking some of the settings.  "Lacey, why don't you go take some footage of what Pat's doing?" Cassandra said softly.  "Try to be discreet."  The girl nodded, and leaving her pack on the floor, she walked off towards the hall, preparing her camera.

Coming down the stairs shotgun slung Vincent groaned as he heard the arguing. Walking up to the group he had a face of displeasure. However his appearance was one of a man ready to explore. Pack, gun and that grim determination. This expedition had been nothing but a disaster.

A smile appeared on Mike's face when he heard about raptors. "Count me in." he said with some kind of excitement in the voice. "We can ask on member of Alpha to take the lead of the security here, in the bunker. Give me just a minute to pack my stuff."

He then turned toward the door where Pat and Mika were. "What about the boy ? He could help us maybe, he knows the island best than any of us here. But disregard this fact, Pat would probably never allow to put him in danger."

Re: Prologue
Patricia glanced at Mikael. "You really look like a good boy." she said. She was getting fond of this boy way too fast. But it was because he was behaving like a cute pet, and not at all for any other reason relative to her heart. And to confirm that to herself, she gently tapped his head.

She let out a big sigh. Vincent's voice was vaguely echoing from the corridor and she couldn't help to think over and over again about the other people coming around. This place was full of dinosaurs. Living real friggin' dinosaurs!
Pat used to growl about coming up with trained killers twice as numerous as the scientists - plus two utterly useless gals. Now with those newcomers arriving, she started to figure out that people may be more interested into making money out of these creatures rather than enjoy this incredible opportunity to study them... People.

"You know what?" she suddenly said. "Come with me."
She offered him her hand and lead him to the door. Opening it widely, it bumped into Lacey, who was apparently just behind it.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Pat let out.
Her puzzlement didn't last long. She moved herself, and Lacey with her, away from the door.
"There, stay or leave, your choice. You don't have to be involved in... civilisation stuff."
She hesitated. She probably should warn the others a wild boy might be wandering around or run away. She probably should give Mikael an encouraging smile.

But instead she shoved her hands in her pockets and walked away, heading for the lab.

Re: Prologue
He smiled when Patricia gave him a pat to the head. Mikael really was more of a pet than a boy right now and he honestly did not seem to mind. All he knew is that Pat was a nice person and he liked her. That was all that mattered to him. He had finished licking his hands clean and had even somehow managed to clean his face off, more or less. He looked at Pat when the other told him to 'come'. He did not understand the meaning of her outstretched hand but her did stand and make his way after her. Mikael moved on all fours. It was just more comfortable for him at this point.

Mikael gave the woman on the other side of the door a small growl but Pat did not see her as an enemy so the boy left her alone. He followed after Pat, staying close to her as she lead him out of the room he was being kept in. He sniffed at the air curiously and observed his surroundings as they walked. He was definitely a curious lad.

Re: Prologue
Lacey gave a start as the door swung open.  She hadn't quite set up; she was still holding her camera in her hands, not yet recording.  As Pat walked by, she hastily pressed record and had a close view of Mikael as he emerged, giving her a little growl.  The black-haired girl found it mildly chilling, and shrank back despite herself.

In the main room, Cassandra's eyes widened at Vincent's statement.  "You're going out to survey raptor territory?" she echoed.  "Isn't it enough that there's people with guns coming here?"  She had her arms folded, and her hips cocked to the side.

The facts are this Miss. One, the people do not know where we are held up. Two we do not know their intent. Three our mission remains unchanged."

At the sight of Patricia coming back followed by Mikael, Mike moved closer to them. He looked at the woman and, nodding at the young boy, he asked : "Do you think I can safely approach him ? I'd like to excuse myself one more time."

When Vincent mentioned the jeeps, he then turned his head for a second : "I'm coming in a minute, I just need to do something here with the boy first." He looked at Pat again, waiting for an answer. "So, what do you think ?"
