It's sad really. Obviously i got into games workshop stuff through you but i've followed it since we lived in James Street. It's a shame that greed has sucked the soul out of that company as it just used to be about the game. Age Of Sigmar is flopping already as people realise it's just a soulless attempt to drag more money out of fans of the game.

I still play warhammer, and thanks to ebay i can still purchase the old miniatures, but it's a real shame it's gone this way.

Re: OOC
I read that the Fantasy line was struggling for a few years whereas 40K wasn't.  They've a lot more competition now for the same people with the rise on online gaming and computer games in general.  I regularly walk past Games Workshop after four and it is shut.  That's when school kids are in town (after school obviously) but the place is empty.

I think it got to big.  It successfully crushed other wargames and perpetuated the idea that you needed massive armies to play.  Now they have realised that they want to create a game you can play with just a few models but rather than a simple set up everything is really overpowered.

The setting has always been about ridiculously overpowered heroes who can wipe out entire units but also even in wfrp a Goblin could kill Gotrek if it rolled a couple of sixes on the bounce.  From what I can see now (and I'm not certain this is true) but there are gods blasted continents.  People like Teclis and Sigmar who should be legends (or at least in the background) up front destroying armies in the blink of an eye.

It makes everyone who ever lived in the setting and it's minor heroes meaningless.  In hindsight Darek Nightcrawler was ridiculously overpowered for you and I had to throw in some help (the fact you survived so long was your 'heroism', not that you killed him).  In some tiny village you're a hero.  In GW's new world he wouldn't be worth statting up.  In Oldhammer he'd probably be leading a unit in a big army or leading a largeish warband.  So you can forget about Hans...

It may not sound like a big deal but now the setting is a 'plaything of gods' nothing else matters and there is no more room for stories.

Oh well ranted enough!

Did you vote in the EU referendum?  I am fucking staggered, but not that surprised that have our country are racist cunts who have just voted to have their employment rights ripped up and environmental protection taken off them.  Fucking hell, I need a Scottish passport ha ha.

Just in case you are interested, I've joined a new Warhammer game that is taking players.

link to a message in another game

It's set in Mordheim so may be a little more 'weird' than a standard game.  The GM BFink runs the other wfrp game I play in and most of us from that game has signed up.

Re: OOC
I think it's pretty full anyway - there are seven signed up for the game, all the players from my other Warhammer game and a couple of others - one of them was the guy who enquired about our game a few months ago.

I'm playing a Tilean smuggler called Gabriella Valente - I absolutely love her already.  Another player's character is her twin brother Roberto.   Can't wait to go on all 'Italian' and refer to 'la familia' - her stats are amazing too.  It's great when you can get attached to a character.

Anyway, I hope you had a good day yesterday in Cesspool, it was great to see you Friday, we'll have to do it again soon.

Cheers

Ha ha - the thought did cross my mind....  Better not mention it to the other player, 'Hiya mate - why don't our twins start shagging each other?'  - I don't think there is an easy way to approach that one?

Definitely catch up with you soon mate!

I'm playing in a WWII game on here and we're in a Nazi castle looking for kids who are being experimented on.

We've just been chased down a corridor by one of these...

Yes, a gelatinous blob with lots of tentacles and eyes.  Needless to say I run away whilst another character went instantly mad and blew themselves up, barely damaging the thing...

Great stuff!

Re: OOC
I did something really fun today.

Will's been off school and we had the house to ourselves so we dug out the first Grail Quest book 'The Castle of Darkness'.  He got well into the dice / combat mechanics (his maths is pretty good) and we LARP'ed a lot of the action scenes.  I let him do all his own rolling, maths, and he made all the choices.  The book is a total death trap!  He managed to get to the end, getting rid of the wizard and only visiting the dreaded 14 once!

We both had a great day with no TV or any other distractions.  I'm not driven to get him into roleplaying or anything like that but it was a super day!

Re: OOC
Just thinking about my recommendations earlier, Dieter actually has the Charm Animal skill as well as Animal Care.  It's the Charm Animal skill that will be really useful in this scenario when you find Puffs, if Bullseye hasn't ripped him to pieces.

I've suggested that Fanriel and 'Baldy' stay however you could change that.  Fanriel, being a Wood Elf and being best friends with Fimflynk has Excellent Vision, Silent Move Rural and Follow Trail - all useful skills.  Of course Anthea is the muscle of the group (she is by far the best fighter and is a bit of a tank).

So Fimflynk is definitely going, Dieter will insist so you'll have to convince him he has to stay.  I agree with you that you need someone to keep an eye on the spy and other goings on.  Ideally you'd need a couple at the festival.  You've asked Anthea to go so I see your options as a) take both Anthea and Fanriel leaving just 'Baldy' at the festival b) swapping Anthea for Fanriel or c) just taking Anthea with you and leaving Fanriel and 'Baldy' at the festival.  I'll write the next post so that it won't matter who is with you in case you want to change it.

You know that game I was telling you about?  The one with high LGBT content?

Check this character profile out where hardly any effort has gone in to the character;

In just a few sentences, who the fuck thinks 'favours hentai for porn' is an important thing to mention????

Re: OOC
I decided to roll out the fight last night and see where that took me.  Wow, I was rolling dice for over an HOUR!  I was getting sick of it by the end ha ha.  To cut a long story short these three assailants weren't really meant to be as powerful as it turned out.

1) The ambush went dreadfully badly for Hans
2) The dice were exceedingly unkind
3) Anthea was absolutely bloody hopeless.  She has 2 Attacks and basically a 1 in 3 chance of success.  She missed over 10 attacks on the trot.
4) One fighter was a little overpowered for the encounter - it does make a difference and is hard to balance fighting!
5) If there were no Fate Points then you, Dieter and Anthea would all be dead and Fimflynk would have escaped with an incapacitated left arm.  Just one of the three who jumped you would be dead (Anthea split his skull open....)

This was just meant to be 'rescue the dog and find a bit more about what's happening around the village' and it has gone terribly wrong....

I had lots more things planned for the day and I've had to have a rethink.

Option 1 would have left you presumed dead by the roadside with all your stuff stolen but with the others all getting beaten it doesn't work.

Option 2 was an amazing idea related to the key plot but again I couldn't make it work logically.

So I'm left with Option 3 which is at least okay logically, is not exciting but puts everything back on track

Re: OOC
Beware of weirdos on the internet.

So I was roleplaying with this woman on another site and she started getting chatty and a but flirty outside the game.  I didn't think much of it, I was being friendly also and just getting on.  Anyway, yesterday she started saying things like, 'we should have a sleepover'.  Thankfully she's in the US so I thought what the fuck!

So today, I mentioned casually like about what I was doing with my wife and kids over the weekend... and she went a bit crazy, apologising and saying she has 'standards' and wasn't going to flirt with a married man.  Somehow I thought it was my fault and then I thought about it and actually I've just been friendly.

Beware, some people cannot separate their character from their self.

Mental!
