Rules of the land
General Game Rules

The GM reserves the right to veto any characters not deemed adequate for the adventure envisaged, and players are wise to consult with the GM regarding any character ideas prior to full character creation.

A character sheet is available on this thread for pasting onto the character info.

The game will use Chaosium's CoC 6ed set of rules.

Posting Rules

There is no set minimum posts, though, in order to enhance the role playing experience , players are welcome to posts as much as they can and want.

If a player is executing a well defined action (example : character tries to spot hidden clues in a room), they can roll for that skill. Other actions may be rolled by the DM, in order to enhance the flux of the game.

As a general convention, unspoken thoughts should be shown in italics , OOC text in orange. Spoken sentences should be shown in a colour of the players choice, in order to make them more visible in the message text.

Character Creation Process

Attribute Rolling:

Roll 2d6+6 5 times.
These rolls apply to STR (Strength), CON (Constitution), DEX (Dexterity), POW (Power) and APP (Appearance), distribute the rolls in whatever way you see fit for your character. The average score for the person on the street is 9-11. (DEX determines Initiative order)

Roll 2D6+6 2 times.
These apply to SIZ (Size), and INT (Intelligence), distribute the rolls in whatever way you see fit for your character. The average score for the person on the street is 13. (INT determines skill points for personal interests)

Roll 3D6+3 1 time.
This is for EDU (Education). The average score for the person on the street is 12-14. Age starts at Edu +5. Each added 5 years of age adds 1 Edu. (EDU determines skill points for your career skills)

Roll 2D6+6 1 time.
This is for your EDU (Education).

Age:

The default age for characters is 21+1D6 years old, but your character’s starting age must be at least EDU+5.

Characteristic Rolls:

SAN (Sanity) is not in use. POW (Power) is not in use other than for determining LUCK (see below).

LUCK is your POW x5

IDEA is your INT x5

KNOW is your EDU x5 (maximum of 99%)

Effort is your STR x5

Stamina is CON x5

Agility is your DEX x5

Charisma is your APP x5

Derived Characteristics:

Fatigue Points max is your STR+CON.

HP = (Con+Siz)/2 (round up) Hit points location are in use, meaning your character’s hit points are divided among her various hit

locations:

Location Hit       point value
Leg, Abdomen, Head 1 to 3 total hit points
Chest              4 to 10 total hit points
Arm                1 to 4 total hit points

Str + Siz = hand to hand damage bonus. Use the total on the following chart:
STR+ SIZ Damage Bonus
2 to 12 -1D6
13 to 16 -1D4
17 to 24 +0
25 to 32 +1D4
33 to 40 +1D6
41 to 56 +2D6
57 and above +3D6

(Damage Bonus is used for inflicting additional damage in hand-to-hand combat)

Experience Bonus is 1/2 your INT, round up. Add the experience bonus to the learning roll for each experience check your character makes to improve a skill or characteristic.

Major wound level is 1/2 your hit points, rounded up. If your character takes this amount of damage from a single wound, he or she may suffer horrific side effects as well as simple hit point loss.

Fatigue Points: add your character’s STR+CON to get initial fatigue points. Your character will expend 1 fatigue point per combat round of strenuous activity (melee combat, swimming, jogging, climbing, etc.). Sprinting or backbreaking labor costs 1 fatigue point per turn. Forced marches cost 1 fatigue point per hour. When your character drops below 0 fatigue points, he or she suffers a 1% penalty to all skill, characteristic, and resistance rolls for every negative point of fatigue. When your character’s negative fatigue point total equals his or her base fatigue value (STR + CON), he or she is incapacitated by exhaustion, and is incapable of any action and may fall unconscious. Your character regains 1 fatigue point every minute (5 rounds) where he or she does not spend fatigue points. Resting, walking at a slow pace, or riding a beast or vehicle does not expend fatigue. An average character will recover from 0 to his or her full fatigue point total in 20 minutes (assuming a STR 10, CON 10, and 1 fatigue point recovered per minute of rest).

MOV is 10.

Career and Skill Points:

Characters get 20 x EDU for skill points to be assigned into Career related skills. They also get 10 x INT for personal interest skill points to assign to any skill approved by the GM (these skills are capped at 50%).

Skill Bonus:

To compute the bonus for each skill category, note the primary, secondary and negative characteristics of each category (use the chart below):
- PRIMARY characteristics add 1% for every point over 10, and subtract 1% for every point under 10.
- SECONDARY characteristics add 1% for every 2 points over 10, and subtract 1% for every 2 points under 10. Round down.
- NEGATIVE characteristics subtract 1% for every point over 10, and add 1% for every point under 10.
