Re: OOC 2
What he means is that we haven't heard a word from you in months, literally. I understand that you have your own RL business and we respect that, but please, you must understand that once you put some people in a game and then you leave them and reply sporadically at best, they won't wait forever for you to return, especially since you never gave any sort of sign that you will ever return to posting IC content during the week, not just on weekends. Which is why it's likely that most of the people who have been playing are now gone, because they assumed that you would never return.

Re: OOC 2
I have posted in game and told the players every time I left, but I understand. All the threads are responded to at least. I guess I'll see what happens. I'm sorry.

Re: OOC 2
Looking back at logins and posts, I have at least posted to every class since December, and was waiting for students and TAs. I may not have posted OOC much, but I tried to stay on top of IC. I've been back for quite some time now, but not much activity has happened. Many players have not posted since the summer when I was active practically all the time.

Re: OOC 2
Well, the problem here isn't exactly that you haven't posted. Sometimes two weeks pass by and the only thread that's ever updated is the OOC chat, yes, but even then, a bigger problem here is that the game is made in such a way that we can only progress when you are actually here. Which means no one can post for more than once a week, which is the bare minimum for almost all games and it usually just doesn't cut it. People lose interest when the posts that you use in order to update are only 2 lines long and they're the only ones that can drive the story forward, because there is literally not enough stuff happening that can make posts grow and flow freely.

I mean, look at Aileen's posts, for instance. Since December, she's been stuck in a dark room without any further instruction other than to just sit there and look through the dark. Just to be clear, I really liked that idea for training someone, but only so long as she actually does something in there. There haven't been more than a few situations where our abilities have been brought into play, barring the IC thread, which doesn't count.

Yes, you have posted since December, but since then nothing happened. People haven't been posting back because we don't know where you wish to lead this game, meaning that we depend solely on you to lead the story. However, this means that you either have to drop larger chunks of lore and write much longer posts, or that you must delegate more people to drive the plot in your stead. Either way, people started to write shorter and shorter posts because of this ever since you began taking more absences, until now people have gone missing entirely. We need to rethink what's happening here

Re: OOC 2
Alright, I understand. So what do you think I should do? I am simply not very good at writing long posts; I'm imaginative, but not very, and have a hard time being descriptive. I also do not really know what to do currently about the lack of other players considering that everyone is waiting on everyone else. Should I try to post something lengthy to rectify all, or...? I'm kind of lost and I do feel bad for being confusing and missing all the time.

Re: OOC 2
What you should do first of all is do a roll call. Make a PM thread in which to include everyone, wait until, let's say, the 10th of February in order to give people the required time to reply, and then remove all players that did not respond to the thread. Then, once that's done, look at the remaining threads that currently have players in it and figure out which player has to do what, before instructing the TAs or building posts yourself in order to propel the plot forwards. Should there be too few players, update the new players thread.

However, a word of caution. You must learn how to write more lengthy posts, or delegate people who can do so. Having too short posts means that the thread will slowly spiral into a very slow conversation, because there is less and less content for others to react. What you must do is create an initial long post, before constantly adding in new content each time you reply, in order to make sure that the word count stays close to where it was before. This especially works well when there are only 2-3 players per thread, as is the case with this game.

Re: OOC 2
I second Aileen. The nature of this game is such that we rely on you to move the story forward, but a lot of the posts from you are turning it around back on us to react. We dont have anything to react to. For instance, Roy is at the beach with Geb and the TA as well as the water teacher. Geb and I had a short talk, but that went dormant a while ago. You posted in there, but it was to turn to the TA and ask if there was anything else to do. That would have been fine back in November/Early December when everyone was on, but now with such a gap, its throwing the story back on us when we have no way to move it at all.

You expressed before your reluctance to have a Co-GM or anyone else directing the story, and thats fine, but that means that much work is on your shoulders to progress wise. Only you are able to give us the tools to continue. I dont want to scare you or anything, but thats the truth. Especially with taking on so many players and characters all at once it becomes difficult to micro-manage.

When we were all together in the beginning, we had to wait turns round-robin style to post and that slowed things while waiting for players. Now in the individual groups, an absence of two weeks here, a week there and so on, slows down everyone in a different way as we no longer have the other players to react to. The IC thread helped stave off a little bit, but players can grow restless with just that as its akin to a bowl of chips and salsa when you're waiting for your dinner. It'll tide you over, but only for so long. We need the real meat of the story and with no one else to provide that when you're away, we all get stuck.

Re: OOC 2
Well, at this point is be willing to take on a few GMs, you in consideration. I feel like some of you would be able to make this a cool story with or without similar outcomes as to what I might have led.

Now that I think about it, one of the guys that seems to have given up is my co-GM and plays various TAs and one or two students.

You might also consider having a smaller group to start, since it's a bit more manageable?

Hey, is it ok if I have my character go to where the other Earth Elementals are? I would like some kind of interaction. Please?

Re: OOC 2
Sorry guys, been having technical difficulties. Here in a couple weeks some of my classes that run late will be no more, and I might have enough brain power to get some all-encompassing post together or something. Might just well start the bloody game over, or skip to the next day.

Thank you to all who've hung around, despite how hopeless or how much of a liar I might seem. It really is greatly appreciated.

Re: OOC 2
It's my feeling that now most of the posts are no longer relevant, with over half of the people being gone.  I don't mind continuing if that's the verdict, but I think restarting is the best option.
