As Ame approaches, Kuron looks towards him. "Ah, yeah, that's true. I've always been bad at it." He chuckles, closing his eyes and throwing an arm around the newcomer's shoulders. He opens his eyes as Ame talks to Roy. "Aw lighten up, just a little, Ame, really, you'll feel better." He grins, the sadness fading from his face. He then proceeded to take Ame's hat and give him a firm rubbing of the head with his fist. He looks back at Roy, saying "Don't mind his attitude, he's a decent guy really. Please do "address him properly" though, it'll cause less grief." Obviously he didn't feel the need to abide by that rule or avoiding grief himself, more like he was more than happy to cause it. "Go ahead and show us, Roy." He releases Ame as he speaks.

As Roy was about to respond, someone else stepped up next to Kuron and began addressing Roy. The man couldn't have been much older than Roy, though he carried himself as if he was already nearing age. "And with the demeanor to match..." Roy dismissed. These center islanders are something else. San this and sensei that. Its like their speaking another language. I dont think i'll ever get used to that. Roy looked at the newcomer for a bit and then shrugged. "It Roy. Just Roy. Thanks. He didnt know who this new guy was, but despite the guy's rude introduction, it didnt really change his plans, and Kuron seemed to vouch for the guy, so he figured he might as well let it be.

Stalking off away from the pair he approached a small bluff on the shore where a small locked hut stood. Padlocked inside stood his spare longboard, graciously hosted by one of the local families whose own boards and fishing equipment occupied the rest of the storage shed. Taking his board, careful not to disturb the rest, he relocked the hut and turned to look back at his teacher and the random guest. "I mean, if you want to stay all the way back there, thats on you, you're the teacher after all, but its gonna be difficult to see anything when I'll be all the way out there!" He called as he pointed out to the ocean where a long ways out the massive waves were rolling in to the shore, crashing down to a lazy tide long before it reached the shoreline.

Noticing Kuron-sensei was stuck in his thoughts, Ame decided to proceed with the demonstration. He walked after Roy, stoping and addressing him before Roy took off into the ocean. "I'll be assessing your demonstration in place of Kuron-sensei. You may use any manipulation method you'd like, so might I suggest using your strongest technique. Although, trying something new would show creativeness and innovation. The choice is yours. When you have finished, I will give you a demonstration of a manipulation method in stark contrast to to whatever method you use. Then we will review the types of manipulation." Ame awaited Roy to proceed with his demonstration, interested to see his style.

Roy narrowed his eyes as he looked on at Ame, trying to figure out exactly what the guy was about. I... already demonstrated some of my ability to Kuron... But I guess I could do that over again if you wanted? We came out here because I've been able to use some of the influence to make a wave taller and stretch further for a smooth ride. Roy shrugged as he finished, something made him feel like the newcomer wouldnt be all too receptive to that aspect of his power. "I dont know how easily you'd be able to tell from the shore though. Out there on the waves, you get a feel for the flow. You know where its going to crash and where the drop in points are, you can feel when it changes. Back here on the shore it'll just look like a wave."

Roy glanced back at the shed he pulled his board from. There should be a spare gun back there I can grab for you, if you need one. Its a little worn and could use some more wax in spots, but it'll handle the chowder like a champ. Roy moved to get the man the spare board before he stopped and looked back to him, "You do know how to surf, right? Else this is gonna be complicated..."

"No thank you, a board would be unnecessary. Please, let us proceed, I am quite interested in your wave manipulation.", and with that, Ame started walking toward the water. With his first step, a small area of the water's surface just big enough for his foot turned to ice. He neither hesitated nor looked down, he simply pressed forward as if he were completely unaware of the ice platforms beneath him. The ice would slowly dissolve as he stepped away form it, preventing a buildup up ice or ice to be thrown about. As he went on, and waves became more rampant, the platforms would flair up on the sides to prevent his feet from getting wet. When a particularly big wave came towards him, he took his right hand out of his sleeve and held it up in front of him. When the water was within 3 feet from hitting him, he slashed his hand to the side, causing the water move out of his way.

Ame continued walking in this fashion, having to use his hands more and more to move water out of his way as he went on. He was only a short distance ahead of Roy, he should have no trouble catching up seeing as how Ame was simply walking.

The first couple steps out Ame took on to the water, Roy was stunned. "Thats incredible. How does he stay so sure footed on floating ice. How is he doing that so fluidly?" He had not seen much manipulation of water outside of his own all that often, let alone in the study of ice.

The next couple steps had Roy start imagining all the possibilities if he could learn that technique. "Travel would be a breeze. I could build literal 'Ice Skates' and slide around the streets quick as I like... !! I could make a surf board entirely out of ice any time I wanted to match any type of wave!" He practically screamed inside his mind.

It was only as he watched Ame move further on and slice through a crashing wave that a new thought crept up on Roy. "He killed the waves momentum in an instant... Thats so... " He searched for the word for a moment "Lame." he muttered under his breath. "How can he hope to enjoy the water or feel its movements if he just ignores its presence altogether?" Roy came away still intrigued but less impressed than he originally had been.

Tossing his shirt off in to the sand and kicking off his shoes next to it, he stalked forward in to the water after Ame, careful to avoid where he had walked, the water still cooler to touch than the rest of the tide. When he reached depths deep enough, Roy dropped down on to the board and began to paddle further out, slipping over the small wakes and remnants of the larger breaks with light abandon on the board, a hard counter to Ame's stubborn trudging through them.

Roy considered making conversation a few times, but couldnt think of anything worthwhile to bring up and instead paddled on alongside the other man in relative silence, enjoying the orchestra of the waves and coastal birds. After a while of paddling out, the waves began to grow in size and drop in frequency. He had spent long enough on this spot to get a general grasp of the goldilock and Roy wagered that they had just about entered it. Leaning up on his board he watched the waves roll in under and occasionally, over him. He knew Ame was watching him, watching him wholly ignore wave after seemingly usable wave passed by but Roy just shook his head. He was waiting.

Too narrow, to slight, bad foam, barrel's too tight, curve is too fat. If he was going to be judged, he wanted to make sure he was judged at his best and for that he needed the right wave. After watching the horizon for a few moments Roy suddenly dropped down and began paddling quickly off at a sharp right angle, leaving Ame behind. Skipping over the next wave and slicing underneath the wave after that Roy cut a quick turn and and began franticlly paddling back off straight in the opposite direction as the third wave scooped up the fin of his board and began to lift him. Hopping to his feet he let the board cut a slight divet in to the wave. He let himself enjoy the wave, there was nothing he would change about the wave  right now. Cutting the board in to the wave he rose up higher until he sat at the crest, sliding sideways sharply along just ahead of the barrel before dropping back down on to the curve of the wave. It wouldnt hold much longer, Roy knew, and as he settled back in to rhythm he adjusted his stance. The wave was beginning to fold in on itself, the water pulling shorter.

Crouching down low on the board, one leg beneath him on the back half, the other stretched far forward almost to the nose of the board, he reached on hand out and touched the water's arc behind him, the other hand hung at his side. His eyes stared forward at the up turn of the water. With effort and concentration he pushed the lip of the wave on, coaxed it to draw itself further in to the tide. Past where the wave should have long died, Roy drove on, adding more and more of his influence as he could manage and let the wave grow, unnaturally so, this close to the shore, that his board rode above the TA's chest and still carried up, little by little. When the wave grew dangerously close to the shoreline, the angle now pointed at the bluff surrounding the coastline, Roy relaxed, and the wave died, no longer having the power to draw itself together so cohesively. Cutting the board back long the foam, he rode the easy path of the wake for a bit before the current died and he had to drop back down to paddle once more, arriving back in proximity to Ame, wherein he flipped over on to his back and floated on the board still catching his breath from the effort, looking on at the TA, to see what he would say.

Ame was impressed by Roy's ability to control such a large amount of water for as long as he did. It was an adept technique, one Ame did not think a new student would be able to perform; however, he has yet to know if this is a one trick pony. Impressed, but not a change in his expression, Ame addressed the student on his still swaying ice float (caused by the force of Roy's prolonged wave) "Very well done. I would not expect a new student to be able to manipulate such a large amount of water." Ame began swishing his hand in a small forward and backward motion, causing his floating platform to slowly go closer to Roy. "I have a small test for you now. It is quite simple, but a sure footing may be needed to perform it properly." His fist facing downward, Ame slowly unfurled his fingers until his palm was facing the ice he stood on. As he did this, the platform grew very slightly, allowing room for another person to stand. Ame gestured with his hand to show the spot, indicating that he wanted Roy to come aboard.

It was evident Roy could control water in its free flowing form, now it was time to test if he could also control the stubborn aspect of water.

Roy moved himself over to the expanding ice platform. Using his board as a brace he climbed on as carefully as he was able so as to not capsize the platform and send Ame spiraling into the depths. Pulling his board up after him, he stood and faced the TA before answering his comments. "I dont know if its all that, the wave was already doing all the work, I just asked if it would keep doing it for a little while longer than normal. I cant make whole waves, or at least, I can only make little ripples if I concentrate." Looking off to the shore he saw Kuron still happily watching and took it as his approval to continue. "So, whats the test?"

After Roy got onto the platform, Ame lifted his right arm, and the ice was pulled upward, rising from the surface of the water. Ame held the platform in place so that it wouldn't sway, a surefooting was needed so that Roy could concentrate. "You have shown that you can manipulate our element in its liquid form. Water flows and thus is manipulate with flowing movements. Ice is solid, and is an entire different classification when it comes to its style. Ice manipulation consists of rigid movements, and attraction." Ame faced his palm downward, and with a swift rigid movement, he pulled his arm upward. As a result, a chunk of ice came out of the platform, and into Ame's hand. Ame held the chunk of ice in the palm of his hand, in front of his chest. "Manipulate this chunk of ice to come to you." It was a simple test, but it was imperative nonetheless.

"Ice... right... Yeah" Roy hesitated, but shrugged. Closing his eyes Roy reached out to the ice in Ame's hand with his ability. In his essence he felt the ice, he felt how it has been formed from the surf, how it had been ripped from the ocean and held together. How the flow had been stolen and replaced with the anguish of solid form. He felt the cold, permeating off its surface, in direct contradiction of the warm waters that had surrounded Roy moments ago. He felt its structure and its shape and as he reached out he pulled. He pulled on the ice, drawing it toward him. He pulled and begged and demanded the ice move with all of his might. He saw the ice, he saw as it moved, as it began to grow and elongate. One end of the ice drawing forward as the rest narrowed into a thin rod of ice. With firm focus and concentration he saw the ice reach out to himself just as he reached out to it.

Roy opened his eyes and stared at the unchanged block of ice in Ame's hand and rolled his shoulders. He was ready. He reached out just as his mind had rehearsed, He felt the ice just as he had before, he felt its solid form sitting in Ame's and he began to pull. He pulled and the ice sat. He bargained, and the ice sat. He let the fury of desperation overtake him and the ice sat. Finally he let meekly asked with his talent and the ice still sat. Roy shook his head saddly. "I... I cant do it. Water moves and flows and is happy to work with you when you ask. Ice is angry and arrogant, it wants only to melt back to water or stay the way it is. It does not like change, it does not want change. I cannot bend it to my will as you do."

"Do not fret. I didn't expect you to be able to do it anyway." Ame's was rather blunt, but he meant no I'll-intent, he just happened to be a jerk. Ame lowered the platform back down so that it would once more float on the water. "As you said, ice is stubborn. It takes years to get a firm grasp on the powers of ice, and years more to master it." Ame began making his way back to the beach to reunite with Kuron-sensei by first splitting the ice they stood,on in half, separating the two water elementalists. This time however, he slowly pushed the water on both sides of the ice, like rowing it. His arms flowed in circular motions in long strides, alternating the side he rowed with each motion. "Come, I'm sure Kuron-sensei will want to speak with you."

"Sorry." Roy mumbled. It wasnt often he grew embarrassed, but failing to produce any kind of effect on the ice when the man, barely older than himself, had such mastery over it was enough to do the trick. Roy had always been proud of his ability, even when he had to hide it back home, it was still something that made him feel... Strong was the wrong word. 'Whole' would be more appropriate. Being able to feel the water around him in its rifts and waves and being able to guide it with his own hands made Roy feel safe and sure of himself. Being show that he was so severely lacking shattered that. It scared him, deep down, and left a clouded shadow over his mind on the ride back. His usual smile gone with only a blank expression.

Externally, Roy was a statue, a blank stare focused on nothing angled straight ahead. Internally, his mind was racing and screaming at everything the revelation could mean. How he had felt so safe at water and protected when in reality, he had no control over the waves at all, he was as vulnerable at sea as he was in a lit brazier. He knew the lesson was not meant to shake him like this, yet he couldnt shake the gnawing hopelessness. Even as they reached the shore and walked back to Kuron, Roy remained as carved from wood. standing meekly before the instructor, not meeting his eye.

As soon as they had made it back onto land, Ame stopped. He didn't turn around, but he didn't proceed to reunite with Kuron either. "Do not be sorry. We should only apologize when we hurt others." Ame turned around to face Roy, his hat casting a shadow over his pale face. "Do not be ashamed. I have been trained from a young age in the ways of ice. I have always had an affinity for our element in its stubborn form." Ame could see the disappointment in Roy's eyes, he was disappointed in himself, perhaps scared even. Ame had seen it several times before, he was a prodigy with ice. Roy had barely even seen what Ame could do, but his inability to even move ice, might have produced the same effect in Roy, as others have felt when they've witnessed Ame performing the most complex ice techniques with an almost boring ease.

"However..." Ame turned away from Roy, and took a few steps toward the low waves creeping in and sliding across the sand. Ame readied his stance, his feet were firmly planted, but his upper body was fluid. He moved his arms at the water, trying to lift it. He was able to get the water to make very small tower of sorts, but when it reached only 3 feet high, it splashed down. Ame had failed to simply disattach a little bit of liquid water from the soft waves in the sand. He did not turn around to face Roy, and his fists were clenched together at his sides. "I cannot manipulate water as you can. I can only will it to move in a different direction, but I can't even manipulate it in some of the simplest ways." Roy might remember, that the only liquid water Ame has manipulated so far, has been changing its direction. He pushed small waves to the side so they wouldn't splash on him, but all he did was make them move to the side. He used water to allow his small ice platform to move, like rowing a boat, but ll he did was slowly change its direction. Everything else Ame has performed, has been through ice; he has only performed the simplest of water techniques.

"That is why we are here. Kuron-sensei will teach us. And I will help you." Ame's fists slowly un-clenched, and he sheathed his hands once more up the opposite sleeve. He turned and continued walking to Kuron, not looking at Roy. Ame just said the nicest thing he'll probably ever say to Roy, and he even showed him his most pride destroying flaw. He wasn't about to look this student in the eyes, his pride was hurt too much from showing his disgrace to his family name.

Kuron had allowed Ame to take over for a bit to allow the two boys to get a feel for the class ahead, and give Ame a chance to be a true teacher's assistant. Kuron beamed at Roy's ability with the waves, cheering from the shore every so often, his face proud. However, when Roy came back, dejected at his inability with ice, he took on a comforting sympathetic look. He was about to speak, when Ame did something he never had before; he demonstrated the only thing that hurt his pride. Kuron's eyes widen at the display, but soften and become proud as Ame returns. Kuron puts an arm around each boy's shoulder, and says; "You boys will do great. You are both so strong in your talents, and I'm sure you both will learn anything and everything you want to in time, with determination. I'm right here with you." He then looked out to the waves and sighed. "And Roy... thank you for respecting Her." His voice is soft.

Suddenly he notices that Geb arrived. "Oh, hey there Geb. You can do that, we might not be here too much longer." He looked back to the boys, having slipped his arms off their shoulders to dangle at his sides. "Do we want to do anything else here?"

Geb nodded and walked some twenty paces away. Suddenly his rock body seemed to fall apart and lay on the ground in no particular fashion. The beach around the body began to vibrate softly and the sand around him swirled and started to surround and cover the rocks.

A large drift of sand suddenly lifted and buried the body before receding again. The rocks began to mave and take their shaoe of a body again before. Geb stood and moved to the edge of the beach where the surf met the sand. He sat down in his knees and raised his hands towards the ocean. Some of the water rose in six inch tall tornadoes. The started streaming over Gebs body and he rumbled back at them in an unknown language. After a minute of this he smiled as the dissappeared back into the surf. He stood and turned to the others.

"Thank you Aqua. It is good to see the sand and the sea again. What brought you all out here today?"

He heard Ame's words, and he watched as Ame demonstrated his meager talents with the water outside of its solid state. Roy observed passively, his face stoic to not betray his heart. The comforts of the TA helped, but a cloud remained. He understood not everyone could excel at every aspect, but knowing that made him wonder if he would have any ability with ice at all. Returning to Kuron, Roy managed a small meager smile and shrugged softly at his teacher's words.

Startled by the sudden appearance of the strange student from the classroom, Roy managed not to gasp. Not from his appearance, Roy had gotten over that the first time, but from his sudden destruction and reformation along the surf.

The storm returned over Roy's heart though, when Geb and Kuron began to talk. To find that Ame was a prodigy and Geb likewise a master further dampened the mood. "If the strongest and most learned cant control this element, what hope do I have?" The anguish in his thoughts fighting over the hollowness he felt inside over control of his expression. In the end, it was Geb who broke the fight with his question. Roy buried the emotions as he turned to the rock-man. "Yeah, it was... Is... It is." He corrected himself quickly.

He had just been hugged... His shoulders slumped, his face displaying both an awkward and annoyed expression, a glint of light ran across his glasses as he turned to look at Kuron. Cold vapor rose from Ame's body, not intentionally, but because he didn't like unwarrented physical contact. This always happened when someone suddenly touched him without his consent. Kuron would know that it even happened when he fought sometimes, vapor rising off of the places Ame had been touched by his opponents. Needless to say, Ame was quite cold to the touch. "Kuron-sensei... If you don't mind..." Ame stared at Kuron, has glasses reflecting the light of the sun, and his body slowly slinking down as he tried to escape Kuron's arm.

Kuron chuckled, as usual, at Ame's attempts to slink away from the hug. The cool mist rising of Ame didn't bother Kuron anymore, so that was not a big problem. He did eventually let the boy go, but held him and stared right back in his eyes for a couple good moments first. He then turned his attention to Roy and Geb, and heard the distance in Roy's tone. His face goes a little blank, but in an almost simply observant way.

Roy welcomed the distraction of Geb's remark, using the puzzle to distract himself. His eyes unfocused, sighted off no where particular in the distance, Roy thought aloud. "Ame has a powerful control over ice. Maybe with a large enough portion, shapped a bit wider and longer than a normal Gun, but with similar dimensions it could hold your weight well enough to keep you buoyant." Roy ran some rough calculations in his head and finally nodded to himself. "Its theoretically possible. I'd wager we'd have to do some tests in shallower waters first though." He remarked, managing a half smirk. "Wouldn't want to lose you to a rogue wave and have you stuck as the newest reef on the ocean floor!"
