Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
As the smoke envelops them, Sly hunches down quietly, flipping his blade down into an underhand grip. He's no elegant fencer like Keras, just a bastard who's cut his way out of more than a few scrapes. Waiting for the right instant, Galvar suddenly leaps forward through the smoke, slashing a deep gash in Keras' leg as he tumbles past him.

"What's your game, damnit?!" Sly snarls at the aasimar, face to face with him as they lock blades. "The Duchess want us Tunnel Runners out of the way?"

Engaging Keras in melee, hitting for 40 damage and 16 ongoing. Sly gains momentum.

Sly Galvar rolled 30 using 1d20+12 with rolls of 18.  Bleeding Strike vs Keras AC 21.
Sly Galvar rolled 40 using 5d8+2d6+12 with rolls of 2,1,4,7,5,3,6.  Damage.
Sly Galvar rolled 16 using 5d4 with rolls of 2,4,4,3,3.  Bleeding Damage.

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
Sly has a but a moment to gloat over the strike he's dealt the bookman, before he feels a burning hot pain in his abdomen. Looking down he can see a ragged tear in his leather armor, welling up with blood. "I doubt very much that the Duchess, is concerned for anyone but herself right now."

Sensei springs forward and stabs the man HARD in the side. "As you should be. Surrender now or you will certainly die." He pulls his blade out and tumbles away, his eyes locked with Keras.

Move up to Keras, and attack with Evasive Strike. Crit! I do 70 hp damage and disengage as part of the attack. I gain Momentum--if he attacks me, I will Roll With It.

18:28, Today: Sensei rolled 25,10 using 5d6+10,2d8 with rolls of 1,6,1,5,2,4,6.  Damage w/sneak (doubled!).
18:28, Today: Sensei rolled 31 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 20.  Evasive Strike on betrayer.

Well, almost knocks it aside. The blade still opens up a nasty wound...

He takes 35 hp, not 70. But still a solid hit.

Nazarin pauses, giving the man a chance to surrender. "Call off the guards," he growls.

Ready Deadly Thrust if he makes any move that's not clearly a surrender.

Keras spins away from the knife cutting into his side, his left hand comes up with another stilleto ready to let fly. He obviously isn't planning on standing down just yet.

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
As Nazarin's blade plunges into the Bookman, a flash of holy light seems to flow out, instead of blood. Suddenly Keras's skin is glowing like a holy thing, and a wave of well-being washes over the escapees, rolling back the dank oppression of this place that has weighed on their souls since they arrived in the pit..

There is fire in the bookkeeper's eyes as tries to parry the blow, and there is holy fire dancing on his stilletos as he glares into each of their eyes in turn.

[Private to Sensei: Sensei, at least recognizes what he is seeing, Keras does not simply have Celestial blood in their ancestry, they are Celestial, full blooded and fallen.]

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
Mahlin's bulgy eyes swivel around as they come out into the hall. He can hear their pursuers stalking them through the library but the tall folk all seem preoccupied with the androgynous bookkeeper from Shadowport. "Um." He says as the Tunnel Runners rush into the smoky hallway, but he knows it is of no use.

Turning back to the library he looks at the towering shelves and decides he'd better take care of this himself. *Bergelmir's icy howl* he intones as he unleashes a storm of freezing energy into the library. With a crack the shelf tips back and parchments fly everywhere in the icy maelstrom. The first shelf hits the one behind it, and that falls over into the next one in  an avalanche that continues until Mahlin can hear screams of someone being crushed under a mountain of bureaucratic documentation.

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
Sly slices downward with another cut, only for his blade to clash against Keras' stilleto. Grimacing, Galvar jumps back.

"You're finished." he snarls contemptuously, looking down at their foe's open wound. "Even if you don't bleed out, you're no match for the four of us, and your friends won't get through that ice in time to save you."

"Last chance. What's really going down in Shadow Port? Who offed Tavia, you?"

It looks like the post got deleted while discussing the other rules questions, but Sly spent his momentum to Roll With It when Keras hit him, halving the damage. I believe he's at 27hp now.

A miss to Keras, halved by the natural odd roll, so 2 miss damage. Sly then successfully disengages.

Sly Galvar rolled 18 using 1d20+13 with rolls of 5.  Tumbling Strike vs Keras AC 25.
Sly Galvar rolled 26 using 1d20+10 with rolls of 16.  Disengage.

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
Keras sneers, as they parry Sly's blow, and drive their stilleto right through the theif's armor. Gods, you don't even realize what's going on. They laugh, but all that comes out is a spray of blood, and the collapse against Sly, before dropping to the floor of the hall.

Shouting and footsteps can be heard coming from down the hall to the right. To the left the hall stretches past several doors before ending in a stairwell in the distance.

Sly slumps against the wall, taking deep breaths as Sensei's healing washes over him. "What'd he mean...?" he mutters to himself, looking down at Keras' body.

At Sensei's words, Galvar shakes the cobwebs from his head. "Yeah, no time to waste." he hurries after the others, down the left hallway.

37hp healed, thanks!

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
The hallway continues for some distance past a series of closed doors before finally terminating in a twisting stairwell. Clambering down the stairs the escapees following hte directions of the unfortunate mechanist, come out onto a landing facing on of several large entryways into a hall humming with magical energy.

At the far end of the hall, a group of a dozen smartly dressed devils in blue police uniforms march onto a platform. The officer in front does something and with a crimson flash they are gone from the hall.

Re: Day Five: Escape from the Pit
Moving swiftly and silently the party crosses into the empty hall. At the platform there is a lingering smell of ozone. Infernal script is carved into the floor, Nine circles of tight devilish writing surrounding a short plinth.

Malin reaches his hand over the plinth and a small ball of red fire appears and grows outwards towards his fingers. The wizard quickly notices the shape of the known world, and the dragon empire in particular. The ball stretches towards his grasp and he moves his finger towards a point in the midland sea, Shadowport coming into sharp focus, like a painting from the perspective of the gods.

Before he realizes it though the ball has expanded to meet his touch, and in the next breath all four of them are falling...
