Department for Offworld Affairs

All space-based units, facilities and equipment available for construction with your current level of technology will appear below. Anything marked as 'prototype' may have a variable behaviour in the field, otherwise these should be considered solid blueprints

Snapshot - 48 NS (Turn 18):
  • Starflight Capability - At present the Federation has the capability to launch unmanned and manned missions into orbit, send probes and attempt rover landings. With the recent construction of intrasystem starships, missions to other planets within Sabaki could easily to attempted.
  • Spaceports - Seitcee together with the Omniports at Rusalka, Nephele and Tōsandō, and, to a far lesser extent, Skaði Fields

Opportunities:
  • Attempting further surveillance or contact with the Watchers on Brahm or the 'entity' responsible for the thermal blooms on Brahm's moon, Udal. Details in the Watcher thread
  • UTF Järkkymätön at Site E3 - an Escort class vessel of unknown type. She is broken up on the sea bed close the the continental shelf drop-off  though some sections and systems may be recoverable. It is believed a datavault is recoverable
  • Recovery of the RCV Mrefu Kiweo and RCV Mbal Maono from Site E2 or close by
  • Excavated Wrecks at Sites M1, E1 and E4 - these sites, from which the Fisabee Datavault, the UTF Keihäs and the RCV Verhuis were respectively recovered, may still contain recoverable information or salvageable parts
  • Spike Drives: Details can be found link to a message in this game

Completed or Deployed

Programmes:
  • Bureau of Astronautical Design and Innovation (BADI) - Relocated from the University of Cartegena to facilities within the FNS Verhuis, the Bureau is established with several renowned engineers and a high bandwidth link to the Acero Valley. You have unlocked the capability to refit existing hull types with a +12, or protoype new types up to equivalent to a small or medium class starship with a +20 bonus, presuming sufficient engineering facilities. Refitting your existing shuttles with Exodus technology will recieve a +30 and the resultant changes will be reflected in the blueprint. From time to time the BADI facility may propose new variants, hull types or components

Facilities:
  • Rusalka Military Base - Sprawling multi-disciplinary facility outside the settlement of Zarubino, capable of building military units of all types
  • Saenoori Stellar Synthesis Network - DisCuSSion Synthesiser in Rhee, together with satellite DisCuSSion Hubs in Haven, Safed and Kader Beach
  • Sietcee Spaceport Facility near Mkobe - Able to handle high traffic volumes and broad launch window, with several extra facilities built into the site:
    • Lunar Exploratory Enablement Wing (LEEW) - Specialised production lines and precision machinery for building surveying and lunar landing equipment. You have unlocked the capability to protoype and build new Satellite or Probe hull types
    • Space Tactical School - Simulators and strategic command, providing a hub for theoretical study, wargames and near-space management. You receive a +8 to research into Doctrines, Strategies and Tactics pertinent to Stellar Warfare. You may use the STS as a command and control facility for near- and sub- orbital mission planning and execution
    • Starflight School - Converted from the historic astronaut training wing
  • Skaði Fields in the Acero Valley - Celebratory site for the recovery of the UTF Keihäs, it is a bare bones site set up more for entertainment than stellar operations. Able to handle a single vessel

Satellites:
  • Sigurðsson-Zhou - You have captured the comet, and it is in a stable orbit at the Comorian-Rafiki L3 point. You may send missions to and from it. It is irregularly shaped, resembling a large ovoid with two smaller nobbled spheres welded to one end. It has a CH-chondrite core, estimated to be 30% Iridium and riddled with caverns and worm-like tunnels from out-gassing, sheathed in ice that contains substantial surface and sub-surface veins and lakes of tar and crude oil together with dense patches of amino acids and other organic compounds. Within the comet there are extensive tunnels and caverns, ranging from those only tens of centimetres in diameter to one vast space nearly three hundred metres across. At their widest the tunnels could be extended to permit transit by a starship up to the size of a Patrol Boat. At nearly five kilometres in length, you could 'park' several if not on the surface then close by
  • Geosync Planetary Network - Network of Civsat-B and Civsat-M satellites, with experimental Anssats and Eleventh Hour satellites intermingled, in orbit round Comorian. Between them these satellites provide surface mapping, surveillance, telecommunications, mineral and seismic scanners
  • Eleventh Hour Platform - Provides a single-use saturation missile defence for Comorian, which can target surface or near-orbit emplacements

Protocols:
  • Docking Procedures - You may conduct orbital docking manoeuvres

Studies:
  • Pochtli Lunar Base - You have the required technologies to build this, but I need some further detail on what you want to build. Costs will range from 2400 million to 7200 million to establish the first phase of a long-term base, with 20% or more per budget cycle in maintenance

Units:
  • Gomorrah Shuttles - 1, at Sietcee
  • Ezekiel Lifters - 0
  • Harrier Assaultcraft - 1, at Sietcee
  • Kolibri Shuttle - 4, at Sietcee
  • Niellä Lifter - 3, at Sietcee with 1 under the command of the Huitzilopochtli Group

Plot

It appears that the Exodus fleet was comprised of a hodge-podge of starships, collecting some as it fled, and that command was ... collective and fractured.

      • UTF Vankkurit*, a Colony Sleeper that held those who made up the Hishu that was cannibalised for early settlements
      • UTF Sukūnā*, a Colony Sleeper cannibalised for early settlements
    • Led by Colonel Jack Menzies:
      • ISS Lyömämiekka*, an Attack Transport  shot down by the RCV Mbal Maono above Comorian and believed to be the so-called Menzies Cache
      • ISS Uusi Toivo*, a Colony Sleeper that held those who made up the Grande Armada and was used to establish for Port Cartegena
      • ISS Kuljettaja*, a Lighter Transport that was cannibalised for early naval platforms and may have spawned the Saenoori
  • After the Tarn of Chaeblis:
    • Discovered hiding in the Tarn's Shadow, a Nebula close by:
      • ISS Kholodne Sertse*, a Colony Sleeper that held those who founded the Gorski Amalgam and was cannibalised for Haven

      • NEV Coati*, a Fast Freighter that was cannibalised for early settlements
      • NEV Axolotl, a Fast Freighter which was believed to have been lost in the spike transition into the Sabaki system; it has since been discovered to have emerged close to Brahm and been wrecked on the moon, Udal
  • After the Vailheu Bank:
    • Led by Commodore Hitoshi:
      • RCN Mbwa Mwitu, a Battlecruiser believed destroyer at the outer limits of the Sabaki system in a shipboard accident

      • RCV Mbal Maono*, a Blockade Runner confirmed to have formed Yamashiro Drome
  • At the Outermost Rim:
    • KMV Tengu*, a Patrol Destroyer shot down by the RCV Mbal Maono above Comorian and believed to be wrecked with the RCV Mrefu Kiweo at Site E2
  • After that and then once upon the Ion Storm of LV-386:
    • Several vessels lost in the storm

All vessels known to have made orbit of Comorian have been marked with a * star, though not all made it to the surface intact

We believe the prisoner transport, the RCV Mrefu Kiweo, was originally being escorted by the RCN Mbwa Mwitu and was the main reason for her deserting and joining the fleet - the cryo-prisoners aboard considered by her captain to be too dangerous to be released under some ceasefire or other. Unfortunately these are among the most cryptic of the records and there are several references we have found no trace of other than in this context: the Abate Gulf, the Vailheu Bank, Commodore Hitoshi and the Shemaal-Pireus Amalgam.

Beneath the Alluvian Highlands is ruin and wonder, though it takes several days of tense negotiation before the Imperator is convinced to permit the seasoned CIA-SOU team and Kavachian scientists to join his own expeditionary force of Eos marines and Anemoi covert ops personnel. Deep within a natural cave is a partially collapsed shaft, leading upwards to where whatever made it burrowed into the mountain and leading into the deeps where it branches into a network of tunnels and chambers, filled with cryonic chambers and many machines of unknown purpose. What is clear is the scale of the place: there are perhaps thousands or tens of thousands in cryonic suspension and many miles of tunnels, carved out over centuries. In the outermost chambers are indeed monsters - distorted figures that may have once been men or wolves or birds, their natures warped and twisted and their bodies desiccated with age. Further in are row upon row of embryos in various stages of maturation - a small proportion of which have been matured to a adult state, though these older forms are often lifeless, whatever process operating them interrupted. In one chamber, with several bulky devices strewn across the floor, are dozens of human skeletons - mostly those of children. At the heart of the labyrinthine facility are initial missing team, in suspension themselves with what appear to be great rending wounds, and beyond them the Songline seed station. You find no trace of the keeper, though it is clear someone or something placed the missing men in stasis. You have found one of the Songline seed stations. Further study will reveal more of it's capabilities and history
