The Jacinto Foreign Legion
Founded for, and composed of, members from all across the planet, the Jacinto Foreign Legion serves as a true melting pot force. Designed as a military outlet for the cultural mission of the Combine, the Legion was to initially serve as a security force. As plans for the force developed over the years, with emerging technologies helping the evolution of the idea, the Legion became less of a internal peacekeeping force and more of a display of the bleeding edge technologies the Combine wanted to develop. The Elysium Exoskeletons provided the perfect uniqueness that the Legion was to showcase.
The Legionnaires go through an intense training regiment designed to cement the idea of esprit de corps and improve the effectiveness of the rugged exoskeletons. Basic training lasts twelve weeks, three of which are a field exercise in various environments to test recruits resolve and ability to use the exoskeletons to full effect. Those that graduate are integrated into the Legion and awarded the title of Legionnaire.
Organization
The Jacinto Foreign Legion is designed to operate independent of an established command structure in the field. For that purpose, the Legion revolves around the century concept of force organization. When raised, a regiment consists of 15 centuries, or 1500 combatants, commanded by a Tribune. The Tribune is in overall command of the regiment and has a staff of a Primus, to serve as a second in command, and three Prefects each in charge of 5 centuries, or cohorts. Each century is composed of 100 men, including its commanding officer and his staff. This Centurion commands his Adjuncts, usually a junior officer in charge of two squads, to carry out his orders. The smallest force in the century is a squad, 10 soldiers led by a Veteran.
The established Veterans, experienced from fighting the Seihai, have taken on the role of tutor in most centuries. Veterans form a unique brotherhood as the centralized experience for most of the unit. This is why there is a developing tradition of promoting Veterans to Adjuncts in order to take advantage of the experience. Those that do not wish to commission usually remain on as a Senior Veteran leading a century's Veterans. First Veterans are the top enlisted to a cohort. A Tribune will have a Signum as his top enlisted, who is also usually the most combat experienced in the regiment.
Should more than one regiment be assigned to an area, plans are established to create the rank of Emperator. Emperators command multiple regiments at the strategic level and are accompanied by Praetorians, some of the most senior enlisted in the Legion. Emperator is a temporary rank, as once the regiments are removed from the field, the Emperator will revert back to a Tribune. Praetorians, however, retain their rank as due their experience and service to the Legion.
In overall command of Legion forces is the Equestrian

Customs and Traditions
Though rank is established, the Legion has adopted the principle of next-man-up. Stemming from the popularity of Comorian football, each Legionnaire is required to know the responsibilities of the next higher rank and responsible for teach the man below him his own duties. In this capacity, the idea is that a unit is never without a leader or direction.
In the short time that it has been founded, the Legion has discovered a personality. Since each suit is tailored to a user, each Legionnaire cherishes their "rig", using the common slang that has emerged. Each rig therefore usually displays artwork and talismans that are unique to the individual, which in turn has unique art or tokens of their century. Centurions usually adopt a personal emblem to make this easier for the Legionnaires under them to copy. Contrary to this trend is the fierce bonding that has emerged among veterans of the Long War. Tattoos are common, and after the publishing the JCN story of the Tannhauser Team, a winged skull flanked by lightning bolts has become the common symbol of the Foreign Legion. The unofficial motto of "Death from Above" has been floating around as well.
The Foreign Legion has also been adopting more of the traditions of their namesake, in an effort to separate themselves from other specialty units. The motto "Honneur et Fraternité" has been adopted as the official one for the Foreign Legion and Pre-Exodus Creole is experiencing a surge in popularity as the unofficial language of the Legionnaires. The officer cadres has begun to adopt French as the common language for all officers. This is due to the large amount of backgrounds that the Legions are derived from and the requirement for a common language.
In that same vein, the intense training that the Legions undergo and are required to maintain have fostered a sense of superiority. Though they lack the numbers of many other military forces, Legionnaires think of themselves as some of the best. Boasts and bragging are common in places where the Legions mix with Federal and other polity forces. Due to this sense of pride and tenacity, and the fact that every Legionnaire is a qualified jump trooper, they have begun calling themselves the "Angels of Death" and will throw themselves at any challenge to prove the claim correct.
The Tannhausers
Special Operations Division for the Jacinto Combine
Operating as a black ops unit for Jacinto interests, the Tannhausers are infiltration specialists. Designed to operate in minimal groups for maximum effective gain, Tannhausers for highly insular strike forces. Some fireteams have been operating together for years, rarely needing to speak during missions.
Operational Organization
Binary- Two man unit and one half of a fireteam. Tannhausers pick their own binary component and the two are never separated unless on a solo mission.
Fireteam- Consisting of two binaries, a fireteam is the standard unit deployment for missions. It provides the most flexibility for operations.
Lance- A lance is comprised of four fireteams. Utilized in larger operations, lances represent a high commitment to fulfill a certain objective.
