Polity Forces

Blackwatch Armed Forces, Commanded by the Venerable Blackwatch Six (Blackwatch Council OF-10)
Blackwatch's military is primarily a ground force organization, with a supporting air force and navy wing. Rather than treating Space and the craft that ply it as a navy type of organization, Blackwatch instead treats it as if a break off of the Air force, called Space Force, with Spacemen replacing the term Airmen, but otherwise structured similarly. All spacecraft are called such, and there are no real references to spaceships in Blackwatch records unless dealing with others and their translations.

    Rank, Uniforms and Insignia

There are only 7 Ranks in Blackwatch forces, Grades 1-7, with Grades 1-3 Being Enlisted, Grade 4 being Non-commissioned officers, grades 5-7 being officers. Titles such as Captain, Colonel and others are used to allow ease of integration with the rest of the Federation their forces, and with their recent close working relationship with the Federation, to establish a hierarchy with in their own ranks, IE a captain of a company and a Lt. Colonel in charge of a battalion may both be Grade 5 officers, but one usually has displayed greater leadership abilities or tactical acumen and would thus considered a higher rank even though they are both the same Grade.

    • Enlisted

      • Grade 1 - Basic Recruits and Recent Graduates. Knows enough to get their job done but still needs individual training at their units to integrate into their tactics properly. Usually those under 1 year of service.
        • Grade 2 - Knows enough to get their job done in their unit, and is capable of performing whatever missions their unit is capable of. Beginning to start specialized training in whichever position they are best suited for, IE: Heavy Weapons (Launchers, LMGS, Grenadier, etc). Usually has a service of 1-3 years.
          [list]
        • Grade 3 - Specialists. Subject matter experts in their field, capable of training new recruits and bringing them up to speed. Are trained to become Squad, Fireteam and other similar small leadership roles. Usually 3+ years.

  • Non-Commissioned Officers

    • Grade 4 - Those that have displayed proper leadership are promoted to Grade 4, where they are now official Non-Commissioned officers. They can lead up to an entire company, though most of the time they are leaders of a Platoon or a group of Platoons. Usually 4+ years of experience, though if one displays leadership qualities before the usual 4 years they can be recommended for promotion straight to Grade 4 as early as 2 years of experience.

  • Officers

    • Grade 5 - Commissioned officer, capable of commanding a company or in rare cases a battalion or in rarer cases a brigade, has to have had experience with in the other Grades or equivalent experience in another military or paramilitary organization. They are still expected to be on the ground, in the fight, and must go through everything their men do alongside them. Generally a specialist or Non-commissioned officer who is promoted due to their leadership capabilities.
      • Grade 6 - Commissioned officer, usually seen commanding a battalion, more often a brigade or a division. The last position that actually participates directly in battle, this is generally where officers will spend the rest of their fighting days at.
        • Grade 7 - Commissioned officer, generally seen commanding a brigade, division, corp or group. Usually the men promoted to this Grade are battle-hardened individuals that have shown remarkable leadership qualities and strategic acumen. There are those that will turn down a promotion to this level as they are expected at this point to no longer participate in battle and run things strictly from a strategic level.

Uniforms -
  • Standard Uniform - The Standard for Blackwatch uniforms are a dark grey nearly black in color, with symbols being in black and white.

  • Standard Armor -  Dark grey armor cover their legs and a breastplate embossed with a red sun leave their arms bare. Black tribal paint covers every flat surface of their armor is jagged lines, all radiating from the central depiction of a helmet and mask done up in red.

  • Council Units - Every member of the Blackwatch Council has the ability to field their own units, these units are specially designated with a Gold Sash, Gold paint on their vehicles and/or Gold On their uniforms. A unit that is not of the Council's personell units are not allowed to wear Gold in any form outside of special awards.

Blackwatch Scout's Insignia -

Facilities
Eastmount Enclave - A forbidding training facilities set in the high alpine forests of Blackwatch territory. Emphasizing self-sufficiency and military traditions lifted from the Exodus originally, Eastmount has become the capital of Blackwatch in recent years, with a large population center springing up around the base, bringing a here-to unfound concentration of Blackwatch civilian's in a single area. (Provides a +5 to raising new units, who benefit from reduced maintenance costs of 2 million off the listed stats as well as +5% to survive stat.)

Blueprints
  • You have created a new unit and may raise up to two battalions of Blackwatch Imperial Scouts per budget cycle; they are considered to be equipped with Fisabee technology including Battlesuits, Flechette Weapons and Kelp Voidsuit uniforms, receiving a boost to unsupported and harsh environment missions. Each battalion costs 240 million, with an ongoing 5 million maintenance if not on active combat missions - with stats of 125/60/15 including bonuses. You may not retrain existing units to receive this bonus nor train them for service outside B.L.A.D.E. (though they can be deployed to such missions, their loyalty is to the Blackwatch). You may choose whether they partake of Retroviral Stims as part of their training, for no extra cost

Polity Forces

Cuāuhocēlōtl
The Huitzilopochtli combined planetary forces are organized into two branches, the Cuāuhmeh which consists of the Air Force & Stellar Smallcraft, and the Ocēlōmeh which consists of ground forces. Both are offshoots of Naphtali Securities, one of the founding companies of the Huitzilopochtli group. Naphtali Security Agents still exist as bodyguards, security force, and police force for the polity.

The Cuāuhmeh is organized into the traditional "Wings" to facilitate integration with other polities and the Sa'ka legion. The Ocēlōmeh will be organized into Cadres, the term referring to the smallest battlefield-effective unit. This allows for simplicity in organization among units that can range in size from a battalion, a company to a squad to a single unit in the case of larger mechs.

The Huitzilopochtli are considered to be a Member State with Lt. General Nelli (OF-7) acting as commander of the Cuāuhocēlōtl and the liaison to Eastern District command and commander of the Cuāuhmeh.

Rank, Uniforms and Insignia
Rank
The Huitzilopochtli Planetary units follow the rank structure of the Sa'ka legion. There are no enlisted ranks within the Cuāuhocēlōtl forces as all pilots are a minimum OF-1. Multi-person flight crews rotate between positions and are typically crewed by OF-1 pilots.

Within Cadres, there is a high degree of cross-training for mechanical maintenance, logistics, and medical self sufficiency.

Support staff form a special arm of the Huitzilopochtli group who operate anonymously without rank. The staff are never exposed to danger and almost exclusively operate remotes in order to provide supplies and med-evac to ground forces. The anonymity keeps the pilots in line once back in civilization as they are instructed to treat every civilian as one that could one day save your life.

Rank is shown on the baret or flight cap of each Pilot's dress uniform and is painted onto the helmet of each Pilot's flight/mech suit.

Crimeran Confederacy Pilots
Aircraft Pilots from the Crimeran Confederacy are commonly employed within the Cuāuhmeh and fully retain their cultural traditions. Uniforms, callsigns, training and practices are honored alongside those from the Huitzilopochtli.

Insignia and paint
Each Wing or Cadre has a custom insignia that is painted onto their craft and affixed to their flight suits and dress uniform on the left arm.

Ocēlōmeh craft warpaint typically depicts terrestrial predators that share characteristics with Exodus archive information of "Felines".

Cuāuhmeh craft warpaint typically depicts airborne predators.

Uniform
Huitzilopochtli Pilots are provided with a flight or mech suit and dress blues.

Flight & Mech suits
There is a strong similarity between the two branches when it comes down to their combat suits. Both incorporate a kelp-based ash grey jump shit with a Azure, white and black helmet that connects each pilot with The communications gear of their craft. The helmets also serve to provide biometric information to command.

The Cuāuhmeh suits incorporate compression gear to help assist with high G maneuvers.

Ocēlōmeh suits incorporate light ballistic armor provide nominal protection when outside of their craft without restricting mobility.

All pilots are provided with a personal defense weapon in case they need to ditch their craft in enemy territory.

Dress Blues
The dress blues for the Cuāuhocēlōtl are almost identical except for the headgear. Ocēlōmeh pilots are given Barets whereas Cuāuhmeh are given garrison caps.

The dress blues are slate with ghost white and azure trim.

Ocēlōmeh Cadre Designations
  • Power Suit Cadre - Infanty in battlesuits
    • Typically less than 4m in height
    • Typically Battalion-sized.
    • Commanded by a Colonel (OF-5)
  • Mech Cadre - Armored Mechanical Walkers

    • Typically Platoon-sized.
    • Commanded by a Colonel (OF-5)
  • Titan Cadre - Collossal Armored Mechanical Walkers
    • Typically more than 45m in height
    • Typically 1-5 Titan mechs per Cadre.

Facilities
  • All of the newer solar plants feature small airfields for long-range test flights together with space for further enhancements and expansion

Blueprints
  • You may train up to three wings of modern planetary bombercraft per budget cycle through this training regime (i.e. Mbuni); they receive a +35 bonus (representing training at Anderbacks and purification in the desert) and require no maintenance. Each unit receives a +10% bonus to all traits. You may not retrain existing units to receive this bonus nor train them for service outside the Cuāuhmeh (though they can be deployed to such missions, their loyalty is to the Huitzilopochtli). You should mark these as Huītzilin.

        The Jacinto Foreign Legion
Founded for, and composed of, members from all across the planet, the Jacinto Foreign Legion serves as a true melting pot force. Designed as a military outlet for the cultural mission of the Combine, the Legion was to initially serve as a security force. As plans for the force developed over the years, with emerging technologies helping the evolution of the idea, the Legion became less of a internal peacekeeping force and more of a display of the bleeding edge technologies the Combine wanted to develop. The Elysium Exoskeletons provided the perfect uniqueness that the Legion was to showcase.

The Legionnaires go through an intense training regiment designed to cement the idea of esprit de corps and improve the effectiveness of the rugged exoskeletons. Basic training lasts twelve weeks, three of which are a field exercise in various environments to test recruits resolve and ability to use the exoskeletons to full effect. Those that graduate are integrated into the Legion and awarded the title of Legionnaire.

         Organization
The Jacinto Foreign Legion is designed to operate independent of an established command structure in the field. For that purpose, the Legion revolves around the century concept of force organization. When raised, a regiment consists of 15 centuries, or 1500 combatants, commanded by a Tribune. The Tribune is in overall command of the regiment and has a staff of a Primus, to serve as a second in command, and three Prefects each in charge of 5 centuries, or cohorts. Each century is composed of 100 men, including its commanding officer and his staff. This Centurion commands his Adjuncts, usually a junior officer in charge of two squads, to carry out his orders. The smallest force in the century is a squad, 10 soldiers led by a Veteran.

The established Veterans, experienced from fighting the Seihai, have taken on the role of tutor in most centuries. Veterans form a unique brotherhood as the centralized experience for most of the unit. This is why there is a developing tradition of promoting Veterans to Adjuncts in order to take advantage of the experience. Those that do not wish to commission usually remain on as a Senior Veteran leading a century's Veterans. First Veterans are the top enlisted to a cohort. A Tribune will have a Signum as his top enlisted, who is also usually the most combat experienced in the regiment.

Should more than one regiment be assigned to an area, plans are established to create the rank of Emperator. Emperators command multiple regiments at the strategic level and are accompanied by Praetorians, some of the most senior enlisted in the Legion. Emperator is a temporary rank, as once the regiments are removed from the field, the Emperator will revert back to a Tribune. Praetorians, however, retain their rank as due their experience and service to the Legion.

In overall command of Legion forces is the Equestrian

            Customs and Traditions
Though rank is established, the Legion has adopted the principle of next-man-up. Stemming from the popularity of Comorian football, each Legionnaire is required to know the responsibilities of the next higher rank and responsible for teach the man below him his own duties. In this capacity, the idea is that a unit is never without a leader or direction.

In the short time that it has been founded, the Legion has discovered a personality. Since each suit is tailored to a user, each Legionnaire cherishes their "rig", using the common slang that has emerged. Each rig therefore usually displays artwork and talismans that are unique to the individual, which in turn has unique art or tokens of their century. Centurions usually adopt a personal emblem to make this easier for the Legionnaires under them to copy. Contrary to this trend is the fierce bonding that has emerged among veterans of the Long War. Tattoos are common, and after the publishing the JCN story of the Tannhauser Team, a winged skull flanked by lightning bolts has become the common symbol of the Foreign Legion. The unofficial motto of "Death from Above" has been floating around as well.

The Foreign Legion has also been adopting more of the traditions of their namesake, in an effort to separate themselves from other specialty units. The motto "Honneur et Fraternité" has been adopted as the official one for the Foreign Legion and Pre-Exodus Creole is experiencing a surge in popularity as the unofficial language of the Legionnaires. The officer cadres has begun to adopt French as the common language for all officers. This is due to the large amount of backgrounds that the Legions are derived from and the requirement for a common language.

In that same vein, the intense training that the Legions undergo and are required to maintain have fostered a sense of superiority. Though they lack the numbers of many other military forces, Legionnaires think of themselves as some of the best. Boasts and bragging are common in places where the Legions mix with Federal and other polity forces. Due to this sense of pride and tenacity, and the fact that every Legionnaire is a qualified jump trooper, they have begun calling themselves the "Angels of Death" and will throw themselves at any challenge to prove the claim correct.

The Tannhausers
Special Operations Division for the Jacinto Combine

Operating as a black ops unit for Jacinto interests, the Tannhausers are infiltration specialists. Designed to operate in minimal groups for maximum effective gain, Tannhausers for highly insular strike forces. Some fireteams have been operating together for years, rarely needing to speak during missions.

Operational Organization
Binary- Two man unit and one half of a fireteam. Tannhausers pick their own binary component and the two are never separated unless on a solo mission.

Fireteam- Consisting of two binaries, a fireteam is the standard unit deployment for missions. It provides the most flexibility for operations.

Lance- A lance is comprised of four fireteams. Utilized in larger operations, lances represent a high commitment to fulfill a certain objective.

Saenoori Strikers, commanded by Marshall Park Hee-Ok (OF-6)
Descended from mercenary fast assault battalions and combat engineers attached to the 428th Nemedian Rangers abaord the ISS Kuljettaja, the Saenoori have maintained their military traditions throughout the dark days of the Unification Wars - carving out a strong partnership with the Progress Made Manifest Coalition in Rhee, though this has waned as they have delved into Exodus records and rediscovered much of their history and power - with the development of gravionic landers and air mobile troops.

Considered to be an Partner under the Kumbe Accords, with Colonel Webster Taylor (OF-5), Commandant of their Engineering School, has been appointed as their military liaison to the Coastal District Command. With recent losses against the Seihai they are not meeting their commitments currently.

  • You have created a new unit and may raise up to six squadrons of Combat Sappers per budget cycle; they are considered to be mechanised infantry accompanied by a variety of combat engineering vehicles - armed with Fisabee quality small arms, Kelp Hazmat armour, mines and explosives as well as engineering tools. Each regiment costs 60 million - with stats of 24/36/4 including bonuses. They provide +10% to Defend and Survive for surrounding units with sufficient time for fortifications, mine-clearing and so on. You may retrain existing units to receive this bonus and they can be trained for service outside the Saenoori.

Saanskrtik Kraanti Ke Sanrakshak

Saanskrtik Kraanti Ke Sanrakshak or simply Rakhavaalon, the Guardians, are the armed forces of the Kavachian Hegemony. Manadated to defend the territorial and cultural integrity of the Kavachian state. The Saanskrtik Kraanti Ke Sanrakshak is strongly influenced by the Raksha Koan spiritual movement drawing the majority of it's officer corps and elite troops from the movement's adherents.

  • Kavachian Jameen Fauj [KJF]

The Kavachian Ground Forces Headquarters, known unofficially as 'Kajaf'. Has command of the maneuver and combat support elements of the ground-warfare forces and it's stated mission is to build the strength and work towards balance, combination, and coordination between the ground corps. It does so by establishing doctrine and strategy, organising the forces respectively for their missions, and directing R&D and acquisition of materiel. Despite an extensive modernisation and restructuring of the forces since the Wars of Kavachian Unification ground forces remain subordinated to the three regional commands and subject to inter-clan politics.

Sainy Khuphiya Nideshaalay, SAKHUN, the directorate of Kavachian military intelligence. An 'all source' intelligence unit that draws from a variety of overt and covert sources. Controls multiple sub units and plays an integral part in the planning process throughout all stages of military and political operations, by providing intelligence collection and analysis at the tactical, operational and strategic levels. Also provides early warning for impending crisis and provision of long term analysis of emerging threats.

    • Kauntar Khuphiya Seva

Kauntar Khuphiya Seva, the much respected Counter Intelligence Wing of SAKHUN tasked with providing protection for senior political, miltary and religious figures and at key infrastructure sites. Rumour speaks of them having an informant in every household, it is a situation welcomed by the general public who support the very long arm of their government. Perhaps an explanation for such tolerance is the open secret of their membership - with operatives taken wholly and exclusively from the so-called fairer sex; fiercely familial and far less likely to let unnecessary heroism cause a mission to fail.

  • Jangal Vaarapheyar Training School

Less a facility and more a philosophy, the Jangal Vaarapheyar that emerges from the harsh cauldron in the north-eastern Kuru Vuoristö Mountains is a restricted region on a map, a handful of scattered and concealed facilities for teaching, sleeping and the maintenance of drones and munitions, and a regiment of grim and innovative men who take experienced soldiers and turn them into their best. It is one of the harshest environments on the surface of Comoria - the mountainous terrain combined with the high temperatures and humidity under the jungle canopy, the frequent rainfall and the ever present threat of Seihai infiltrators and unexplored ordnance from the ongoing conflict combine for a demanding, realistic and often hostile training environment. This is further enhanced by the Kavachian use of combat remotes in training as opposed to modern simulators making fatalities a common and accepted risk. Specialising in unconventional and guerrilla warfare, and building on experience gained in combat versus the Seihai with training modules that are practical orientated, the Ladaee Gaid teach basic combat skills in the jungle - training is designed to enhance leadership, tactical mindset, and unit cohesion with training focusing on reflex firing techniques, small unit tactics and tactical lessons. There is an emphasis on survival, physical fitness and endurance through all stages of training with instructors believing that if you can learn to fight in the jungles of northern Kavacha then you can survive in any environment. For many it is like being emerged back in Hell Week at Eastmount, for weeks and months on end!

You establish the Jangal Vaarapheyar Sthaan  in Northern Kavacha, and the Ladaee Gaid , a training cadre who can be used to establish other such facilities. You may send an experienced ground unit through Guerilla training at any such facility and Alpine or Jungle training here: the former provides a 20% bonus to Assault and Defend in specific combat situations, together with a bonus to infiltration or counter-infiltration; the latter provides a further +5% to Assault and Defend and +20% to Survive in that terrain.
  • You have unlocked a new unit and may raise a single regiment of Dhaalen Irregulars per budget cycle; they receive a boost to asymmetric warfare. Each regiment costs 105 million - with stats below. You may not retrain existing units to receive this bonus nor train them for service outside the Rakhavaalon (though they can be deployed to such missions, their loyalty is now to the Kavacha Hegemony)
    • Dhaalen Irregulars 100/25/8
Infantry Mechanised: Equipped with Kusari Shōzoku, Composite Vests, Fletchette Long Rifle, Nemedian Pistols, Monoblades and Stims, and mounted on Djerboa Buggies, together with Basic, Nemedian and Striker training

Xur Corps, commanded by General Jace Diego (OF-9)
Primarily operating in territorial claims by the New Stoics (The Holy Syllogism of Aurelia), they evolved out of Sa'ka Legion into a separate force due to the narrow scope of their duties for their first two decades. Xur Planetary dress uniforms are three pieces of body-hugging kelp camoflauge. Formal undress uniforms are dark green with highlights of red wine accents and rich, soil-brown piping, and include a matching trench coat with asymmetric pauldrons. From afar, the only difference between the Planetary and Void Command uniforms would seem to be their boots.

Insignia patches are elongated pentagons, with rank in the top quarter, and branch identifiers below. Some commendations are included on the patch, while others are only visible on the formal uniform.

Facilities
  • Yamada's Kalari.  Rising up from the badlands north of Boca Ridge, there is little to see at the site they called Yamada's Kalari: a scattered handful of monasteries in the ridges and low mountains, centred on a vast flattened hexagon of concrete. Admist them a few lone squat towers conceal the underground extent of the facility, a spiderweb of Bunkers protecting the mostly empty Barracks (sufficient for four Divisions, with one claimed for the Aghori known as the Looter's Wattle), Proving Grounds (focused around Cutter, where twin-monoblade techniques are taught using bloody Seihai methods, and the Quiver, an Ansible equipped combat simulator pod for Drone operators) and Aircraft Hangers (sufficient for four Wings or eight smallcraft). At the western's point a sprawling half-completed monastery is what draws the eye - the Mustering Out Centre already full of the weary and the wounded. Atop the northernmost mountain, Xur Command sits in the historically styled shell of their thoroughly modern Command Post, though the small shrines to the kami of the site can be found throughout, oft festooned with the detritus of battle upon which soldiers of the Xur have scrimshawed a blessing or a vignette, or a small vial half-filled with alcohol (half of which is sometimes splashed on the shrine).   VIPs: General Diego OF-9, Marshall Sandeep Yamada, OF-8, Major General Fox Hooper OF-7,  Colonel Chiumbo Nthanda Song OF-5, Commander Anuja Tsukuda OF-4, Commander Marjut Idowu, OF-4 Drill Sergeant Franklin,

Blueprints
  • Aghori - You have created a new unit and may raise two battalions of Aghori per budget cycle; they are considered to be mechanised infantry equipped with Requiem Suits - based primarily on Gyver power armour with Kelp Hazmat seals - with gravionic APCs and armed with small arms. Each regiment costs 150 million - with stats of 40/50/15 including bonuses. They provide +20% to Survive of surrounding units and a +15 to the recovery of material. You may not retrain existing units to receive this bonus nor train them for service outside the Xur (though they can be deployed to such missions, their loyalty is to the New Stoics). Example battalion names: Cerebians, Kalis, Anup, Ferrymen, The Ninib, Calavera Catrina, Banshees
  • Jambuvanti Training- You may train Stoic Peacekeepers or Krait SWAT teams in the form, which provides a small bonus to Defend.

Non-Allied Forces

  • Dhalen-Blackwatch Irregulars
Formed out of the early battles (and associated losses of thousands of men and women) in the Mkesha Borderlands, the Irrregulars are comprised of veteran Blackwatch, Kavachian and Federal troops who have disavowed their originating forces but are committed to the eradication of the Seihai threat. Typically they are armed with a mix of Fisabee and Seihai weapons, performing hit-and-fade assaults from a hodge-podge mix of bikes, buggies and IFVs
    •   2 x Scratch Regiments with Scavenged Equipment and Mixed Training
