Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
Nin-kagina smiled brightly as Sulea stepped in front of her, and reached forward to wrap one arm around the girl. "I would not wish to insult her, nonetheless," she said gently, looking back at Neerga. "I thank thee for thy gift, Crafter Neerga. It is well-made and worthy." She then turned her head to Sulea and smiled. "This is the beautiful Sulea," the dark-skinned ritualist said in a sweet tone, introducing the girl who was almost certainly her woman. Well, they hadn't made it official. In fact, given the cramped quarters of their exile, they hadn't even had time to sleep together. But one wouldn't know that from how Nin-kagina was acting toward her.

Jaldor cut in and she released Sulea, taking on the role of the ad hoc band leader. "The old chief hath been replaced," she said in a tone of finality. Communication became easier as they spoke. "The new chief is called Gremm. Officially, we were outcast because there were too many bellies for the tribe's grounds to feed, and so...we were extra. Unofficially, we were those who threatened his power." She smirked faintly. "He hath little liking for magicians such as we, and less liking for any woman who would not come to his furs. I was both. He said we were free to run off and starve, and I believe him..." She chuckled. "At least until the next time his hunt bears no fruit. Then I imagine he will fear that I have cast a curse against him, whether or not I have."

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
Sulea's ruffled feathers were soothed by Nin-kagina's words and the arm wrapped around her.  She gave Jaldor a solemn look and nodded her agreement. "Gremm is cruel and proud.  He does not heed the spirits of wisdom or those that speak to them.  He cares only for the comforts of his body.  He and his men did not harm us, but they took all we owned and threatened to chase after us if we did not go quietly."

"Oh will you two just shut up and fuck already?" Yor muttered at the banter between Sulea and Nin.

"Yeah, Gremm threw me out for being smarter than him, using traps to get twice the food per hunt he and his lunkheads retrieved, and the fact that I was probably next on the old chief's list for successor. Also because I want to rule the valley in order to unite all humans under one banner."

Balhek addresses Sulea and Nin-Kagina, bowing his head politely as he steps forward.

"If I may; what now are your plans? Do you seek a new home, or a new tribe"?

Sulea refrained from observing that Yor's attitude may have been a contributing factor in his dismissal from the clan.  Instead, she nodded.  "A new home, where our talents will not be so easily dismissed.  The spirits do not make themselves known only to be ignored.  I fear that under Gremm's leadership, the Fire People will wither to nothing.  To join another tribe with the same arrogance would be the highest folly."

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
The beastmaster looked at Balhek and Neerga and Lok and then back at the exiles.  Saying.

"You exiles have given us a lot to think and talk about.  I think my companions and I need to talk on our own.  We will be back when we are done.  I'm sure you would also would like sometime to talk among yourselves about what we have said, as well."

Jaldor turns and begins walking around the other side of the Stump.  Out of earshot, to where the two female cats have been waiting.  He glances over his shoulder to see if the others of the Cloud People follow him.

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
As Jaldor started leading the Cloud People away, Nin-kagina personally took Sulea by the arm and led her a little distance away from the others, no doubt to Yor's increasing annoyance.

"The one called Neerga is quite bold, is she not?" she asked, amusement written on her face. "What do you think of her?"

"Bold, yes, but I can't fault her for her preference," Sulea admitted, blushing a tiny bit.  "Generally, I think they are probably good people.  I feel bad for them if they continue on to Gremm's camp."

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
The Cloud People excuse themselves and circle around to the west side of the stump. The ladies of the Fire People step off slightly to the east. That leaves Dorgra (quiet stoic guy that he is), Capin, and Yor standing by themselves in the shade of the eastern side of the stump. The cats remain on top of the stump, eyeballing the strangers from the Fire People in a way that could make anyone uncomfortable.

While the guys are alone, Yor notices something. The tracks in the mud that the Cloud People have placed all lead back to the same small hole between some roots of the stump. Dorgra sticks his head inside, pulls it out, and reports, "I see a small cave in there, a cave of wood, even on the floor. It looks dry as well."

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
On they get over to the two female scimitar cats were.  Sending them to join Dorjal back on top of the Stump.  Speaking in a low tone, so his voice doesn't carry.  He says.

"These exiles seem very boisterous and brash to me.  They say they seek, as the woman Sulea said  'A new home, where our talents will not be so easily dismissed.'  If that didn't sound threatening enough  The one man Yor, thinks he should be the one that should be Chief of all who live in the area.  The one woman Nin-kagina says she will use her magic to get what she wants.  It seems to me that those who come from the Fire People do not think wisely before they speak.  An thus likely do not, before they act.  If we allow them to join us they might burn us and the rest of the Cloud People.  If we take them back to them.  They only seem to want what they want.  Not what is best for all of the tribe.  An would sooner or later, try to take over.  What do you others think?  Am I wrong?"

"The two women are like me and share a bed fur we have great power and sometimes passions, but that can be directed for good things. Yor concerns me I can see why his chief sent him away. However we if we take their word as true then we cannot risk seeing the Fire Peoples Chief either. And we have to move the Sky says so in the Clouds so more people would be of great advantage. Here is what I think we have a mission and won't be rushing back like the fast hare since we must see if our people can live here. Let them join us as a test as we learn more about them and see if they have value. Then in one moon cycle from when it hides to when its high and bright, talk about them again.," Neerga said plainly.

Listening to both Neerga and Balhek.  Jaldor said.

"The problem with joining with them on a trial basis.  Is that they will be going with us to find the site for a new village of our people.  What happen if they are not allowed to join our tribe.  Once we have moved  our people there and built new homes.  They show up there seeking vengeance.  Is that a chance you are willing to take?"

"That's simple, we have a false site to test the area but keep the true site hidden from them the place we will want out people to live in case of possible treachery. But we will need to deal with the Fire Chief eventually I would prefer to do it from a position of strength a stronger tribe with them would be more secure.," Neerga replied.

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
Balhek listens to both sides; "I understand your caution Jaldor, and I hear your idea Neerga.. I also agree that the Fire people tribe is a threat, and that seems the worse problem. If the whole tribe of Fire People attack the Cloud People, there will be many deaths. With these newcomers, the Cloud People numbers would be increased, and the tribe would be more capable of resisting the Fire People tribe should they attack".

Balhek frowns, before continuing; "I do not think this is the time for caution. We should let these newcomers joins us, then search for a new home as soon as we can. When we return, let the elders decide if we made the right choice. I will accept my fate".

Balhek looks at Jaldor and Neerga, trying to read their expressions, wondering if he has spoken out of turn...

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
Having listen to what both Neerga and Balhek had to say.  An taking a few moments to ruminate upon it.  Jaldor spoke.

"I did not hear them mention anything about the Fire People moving in this direction.  From where they live to the east.  So I don't know where you two got the idea that we would ever have to ever deal with the Fire Chief, from?  As for keeping our true site hidden.  I don't know how we will do that.  I'm sure when we find the site we want to move the Cloud People to.  It will be obvious that it is better then all the others we will have looked at.  But I guess we can try.  I'm sure one can find some sort of fault in a place.  The one we will want, will not be perfect.

Come. let us go tell them that we would like them to join our group on a trial basis.  If things do not work out, hopefully there won't be any hard feelings."

Jaldor waits a few moments to see if there is any response from the others.  If not, he turns and walks back to where the exiles are at, on the river side of the Stump.

Scene 4-III: Fire & Air
Jaldor, with the others, having rejoined the exiles, says.

"We have discussed it and decided that you are welcome to join us as we look for a new village location in the hills to the north.  Once that is done, we will return to the south to the location of our current village.  There you can petition the Elders about joining the Cloud People Tribe.  If that is still what you wish.  About this wicked Fire Chief, Gremm.  Do any of you have any knowledge that he plans to leave the Fire People's tribal lands to the east and come in this direction?  How many days travel did it take you all to get from there to here?"

When they are ready to start out again.  Jaldor has the exiles go through the same familiarizing routine with each of the Scimitar cats.  That he had done with his initial traveling companions, before they first left the Cloud People village.

"It took us a day and a half of march to get here. As for Gremm, I think that in the immediate future he'll be consolidating his grip and spiking every woman who is still in his reach. As for what the future holds...it depends on how good the hunting is."
