Scene 18: ...And Back Again
The Cloud People emerge from the Valley of the Scorpion Women. The warrior Zolkur-Dakia continues to escort them. Rising out of the perpetual fog bank and into the sunlight, they immediately feel a reconnection to the real world that they did not even realize they were lacking. Birds serenade the travelers. The morning air is still cool, but it warms rapidly.

The clouds above had reversed their earlier path. They now float eastward, back towards the new village of the Cloud People.

Scene 18: ...And Back Again
Zolkur steps onto the solid ground of the trail beyond the canyon. She clearly noticed the man, Vug, watching her. She studies the horizon in every direction. Finally, she reports, "Cloud People, the path before you is safe. I see dangerous creatures, and the beastriders keep to themselves on the far side of the canyon. I trust you can find your way back to your own home from here. It was -- surprising -- to see women and men working together like a pack instead of a like a hive. I must give your way of life some long and serious thought. May you never lose your trail beneath your feet. If you have no more need of me, I shall return to my people."

I haven't heard from Zuldur-Dakia's player in a while either, so I guess that character is in NPC mode now.

Scene 18: ...And Back Again
"I'll be harvesting the black stone, I can trade some if you send people to our tribe, we need furs and skins almost all the time and thick bone plates for armor, its brittle but deadly sharp when worked can slice through almost anything.," she said to Zuldur-Dakia.

Scene 18: ...And Back Again
Within minutes, the Scorpion Woman has vanished from view again. The travelers feel that they are well beyond the ear shot of anyone in or at the edge of the valley. Now that they are confident in their privacy, is there anything the Cloud People want to say to each other before some new crisis arises?

Scene 18: ...And Back Again
Vug told the rest of the group about what occured while they were in the dream place.

slave:
Queen Lukio died while you were away. She did not die in her sleep. She spoke commands and advice right up until her last breath. With that final breath, she named the woman who she wished to succeed her as queen of the tribe. She named Nin-kagina. After the queen passed, the other Scorpion Women began arguing. None of them wanted to call Nin-kagina queen. Some were adamant and said they would die before they knelled before a deserter. Instead, they decided among themselves that Vorea the Shaman would be their queen. They would not be pleased if they learned what I have told you. I only say this so that your people will not tarry here lest they are seen as threats to the new chief-queen.

"If they perceive us as a threat, there could be war between our tribe and theirs.  Unless we want to take them over, we shouldn't give them any reason to think we might."

"I agree, although being the wife of a chieftain would have been nice, its better to give them a year to get settled then maybe go with a trade expedition and offer terms of friendship. I noticed they had nice furs and hides very valuable to us for clothing and crafting, we have the Black Stone and a good supply on our land which makes formidable edged weapons and tools for delicate work plus its a beautiful stone. I would only trade it with friends though its dangerous to give to enemies.," Neerga said she always favored peace over conflict she lost her people to such raids.

Nin-kagina's face darkened. "I would have liked to know about this when we were there, Vug," she said. "Even wounded as I am, this is not a conflict I would have shrunk from, and with all of us together, we could have won and set the Scorpion Women on a new path."

Vug's face crumbled.  "I am sorry.  I meant no offense.  I didn't think it was a fight you wanted to start.  The slaves may side with us, but I didn't think you wanted to start an uprising.  Perhaps we can plan a return to their lands and restore order."
