I'm not set up for that...  But we could...  If we wanted to go that route we could use google hangouts too.  The nice thing about this format is people can post whenever they have time.  We don't have to schedule a session time.  People just hop in and post when they have a minute.  The game is "on" all the time.  I also like that we can think things through and write out our posts, kinda like a book.  I'll post some examples.

Hey Jeff.  Take a look at the map of Andoran and decide where your mentor's tower is.  Closer to Falcon's Hollow would be better, just so you wouldn't have to travel as far to get there.  I kinda doubt a wizard would slap his tower in a backwater logging town like Falcon's Hollow.  If you wanted to do some research, there is a wiki on every town in this world.  It's pretty cool actually.  I wish we had these resources back in the day.

So there is a big chunk of the second paragraph that I can not read. I am not sure if there is something I don't understand about languages or what the deal is.

Also, I'm not sure if you saw from my original introduction, but I was working under the premise that my master was injured in a laboratory accident. If this isn't effective for the story line, we can adjust it.

Don't know. I'd need to study the world a bit. Not exactly sure where his homeland is. I do know that he has traveled fairly extensively, especially compared to common folk. His family had a bit of wealth. I kind of figured his father was some sort of low-level nobility or diplomat and was constantly traveling from one place to another.

Just remember, if there is a specific square you want to move to, give me the coordinates.  You can move your speed in a casual walk in a round (6 seconds).  A normal combat move is a hustle or jog and you can move your speed in half a round (3 seconds).  A double combat move is considered a run and you can move twice your speed in a round (6 seconds).  If you spend the entire round running, you can move up to 4x your speed (3x in heavy armor)in a straight line in a round (6 seconds) and you lose your DEX bonus to AC.

I don't know how to interrupt the story line with an immediate action, but I'd like to do so.

Windy escape is a spell that casts as an immediate action (like a swift action, but even if it isn't your turn), and grants 10/magic DR.

Yes, this spell is what triggered the idea for this character. His father was a fine swordsman, and warrior, but he was killed when Nod was 10 or 11. Nod often wishes he could carry on the legacy, but is not a practices swordsman. This character's mission is to stand in melee with the enemy, and use magic and cunning in place of strength and skill. Wizard fighting shield and sword ties the whole thing together.

I will correct the post for that.  I would say in the future if you intend to use it warn me by saying you have that spell at the ready and I'll apply it on the next time you get hit.

The goal obviously is to narrow it down to one post per round if at all possible to maintain pace and flow.

I kind of like the crit check system.  Basically if a basic goblin attacks a high level hero and scores a crit.  That's basically the only way they can hit the hero.  So he's lucky to even hit the guy let alone score a crit.  To me it's more of a protection for the players than a punishment.

Just so everyone is on the same page, you guys didn't follow a trail east.  You went cross country and didn't follow foot prints.  We don't have any trackers in the group, the foot prints you see are really easy to see in locations with a bit of a clearing and bare dirt.

Couple of questions about the battle map.

First, are those bed rolls over on the eastern side of the building?  I can't quite determine what they are.

Secondly, is there a partition between the east and west sections?  I see a big line running down the near middle.

Lastly, is that a door way in the middle of the east wall?

Re: OOC
I was wondering if there would be any interest in starting a new thread just for camp/trail/travelling talk.

We do it a little, but not enough to my liking.  It could be used for sharing information and just learning about each other, all in character, of course.  It can be a free flowing thread that can be used to go back in time, or even the future.

For instance, we really need to make a plan for going back to this town.  I have my own opinions (as Marek, of course) as to what to do, but I've never had a chance to fully express why I think we should choose a particular action.

Another example.  All I know about Nod is that he's some elven apprentice wizard, that for some reason, plays around with a sword.  I'd like to talk to him and find out his motivations.

We would naturally have these kind of conversations as a course during our travels or bedding down for the night, so I don't see why it would be out of character.

Don't get me wrong.  I think the game is going great.  Perhaps a little slow for me but that's because I don't have much of a life! :)  I just thought a little enhancement would make the game even more interesting.

Clarification:  The party stopped about 10 minutes from the edge of the woods to avoid being seen.  If anyone moves to the edge of the forest it will require a stealth check.  If you can see the area there is a good chance someone can see you.

I watched some of that Critical Role and it was entertaining to a degree, but I think they go to far with the sponsorship stuff.  Guess you gotta do what you gotta do to eat though, eh?

I will say they seem to stay very organized.  In the episode I watched, they did not cut a single frame, which means they didn't do 2nd takes at any point.  All very spontaneous and very organized.  I imagine they have certain scripts to go by, but very basic stuff.  They are all on camera the entire time except when one of them leaves to get food or drink.

Really kind of cool.  To think we could of been that kind of pioneer if we just had this technology 15 years ago, eh?

But lets talk about the items we're trying to sell off.  What about all the artifacts that we collected like the breastplate...didn't see all that on the inventory...unless someone other than Fletch has it all.

And which item is the protection from werewolves.  If what I've been reading about Andoran is correct, we may run into those somewhere down the line.

The magic armor?  Actually it doesn't make you resistant to fire, it gives off heat as if it were an actual fire.  So it would keep you warm in the cold.

You might be able to get 5000 for the breastplate.  It's not a true energy resistant armor, but it would help against natural cold.  Although Nod would notice that the enchantments that appear on the Panopoly of Narven do not add up to the power of their magical auras.  In other words they appear to be much more powerful than the enchantments on them.

The breastplate does give off light like a torch. The dagger doesn't give off a useful amount of light but would be easily spotted in the dark. The breastplate gives off heat enough to keep warm. The dagger actually has 2 cold resistance.

Grelm was actually a little reserved in our last encounter, and definately helped kill that tree monster critter we ran into.  It was the goblin and Nirishi that were the evil ones, I think.  I was going to make him buy his bow back.  He might have been handy in a fight, as well!

Re: OOC
Question on PC knowledge....

Can we ascertain, that knowledge is shared if posted for all to read?  I ask this as a character, I cannot see that Nod has told us all fully about what all his master told him to do.  I say this because I have asked the question more than once and had vague response...or at least partial information.

You see, I've went back and read EVERYTHING in these threads, but I can find nothing repeated about Nod's prologue.  Master Tranzen in the first couple of posts spells out what his mission is, but so far, in writing, it is only conveyed in vague terms.

As characters, I suspect that we have spent a considerable amount of time around one another.  This information may have been passed along between actual events that we have posted in game.

What I'm getting at is, do I need to drag the info out of Nod, or take it that he has told us everything we can see posted?

Wierd, eh?  It's just a PC dilema that has been knawing at me!

I love the mechanics of what amounts to Play by Email RP!

If you think about it, if this current exchange between Marek and this freak, where part of a live session, we would of been telling each other what to say and ask in PC.  We have none of that here, for the most part, at least.

And I apologize to the group for hogging up this side mission.  I was just trying to play the character.  Marek is still only 19 and prone to rash decisions, eh?  I love how you bros have my back.

Anyone got a direct line to Bird?  See how he's doing?

I'm all for suspending the game at this point until he can get back. We are now at a point where I think he should be included.

Or the show can go on without him.  Maybe Streeter could NPC him for a week or two.  Lord knows, we had plenty of games where people didn't show up that we had to work around.

Either way....I'm good.
