Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Fletcher slowly moves into the debris pile at the base of the dead tree.  He makes absolutely no detectable noise as he moves.  He methodically searches through the loose material and after about thirty minutes, pulls the scroll case out of the pile.

OOC - One of Marek's bolts is unrecoverable.

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Fellows, this probably doesn't seem very important at the moment, considering that you have relatively serious acid burns all over your bodies. Anyway, I was just thinking about how we need to take all of our magical items and give them to the pixie, and it dawned on me that the idea was utterly preposterous. I'm afraid that in a moment of weakness I fell for her and went into some sort of enchanted state. Not that I have a thing for under age water creatures. Anyway, I am ashamed and request your forgiveness. I mean, when you are not so badly burned. You do not have to do it right now. Can I help you retrieve some mud or moss?

<<25 points for being such a good sport!  I didn't have to control Fletcher at all, just told him how he felt and he played it perfectly!>>

To Wang:

I'll pass on the mossy underwear, but thanks, Wang

Marek sets to cleaning his armour and Nirishi's scythe of the bugs blood. As he scrubs mercilessly at the affected pieces, he thinks to himself, "Not the armour....not the armour....not the armour!"

He ponders Fletcher's words for a moment and adds to his companion:

We knew you were out of your mind, pal!  No apologies needed.

To be honest, I was more worried about all the loot you were going to throw away.  In your right mind, you would be too!

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Marek thoroughly inspects is gear.  For the most part, everything of value made it through unscathed.  Any cloth material on Marek and Wang does have areas with many holes burned through.  Leather items have been discolored and has some pock marks.  The Breastplate of Sacred Fire is completely undamaged.

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Nod approaches his injured companions. He hold out the Vial of Pure Water.

"Each of you drink half of this. It will make you feel better. It seems to have some form of curative property, and it recharges slowly after use. We should consider trying to negotiate for this item after we return to the Professor, as it would aid us greatly on our journeys"

Nod returns to Fletcher, and discretely takes the dagger and bolt, and prepares them for identification.

OOC: forgot to note what the roll was for. ID of one of the items.

06:40, Today: Nod rolled 29 using 1d20+11.
06:41, Today: Nod rolled 25 using 1d20+11.  ID for the other item.

"Well, gentlemen, If you are well enough to travel, I'd like to sleep in a bed tonight. I just don't think I can do another night in the wild."

Nod gathers his things, and pulls forth his trusty maps once again, and plots a course back to town.

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Marek looks at his Tian friend with an expression of incomprehention.  He shakes his head in disbelief and finishes removing the mud and moss that are starting to itch!

He finishes packing up his gear and is ready to go!

We need to make some serious plans along the way back to town, gents!

I don't trust anyone in that town and neither should you.  I think we should recon the situation before just sauntering back in.

What do all of you think?

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
Well chaps, my horse is stabled there. The first thing I would like to do is retrieve her. Then, we have two options. I have a very nice disguise kit in my saddlebags, because, well, a good man never knows when he will need to appear to be a different man, or woman. But I digress. I can slip into town and listen in on things and report back. Or, Nod has also offered to go to the inn and attempt a parlay. I think we should do both. Case the Inn, then speak to them. Of course, there is the option of just leaving, as Wang and Marek have suggested, and Nod has opposed.

"I have committed to deliver the items in exchange for access to the Professor's research. I am bound by agreement to try to make good on that. I can assure you gentlemen, however, at the first sign that the Professor, or anyone else has other intentions, I will be the first to modify the agreement. I must return to town, and attempt to finish the bargain. I will leave the items in your capable hands until I have certain assurances that the transaction will be completed as originally agreed."

Re: Chapter 1: Into the Haunted Forest
As Wang works on his camouflage he offers his opinion on the situation.

Wang trust professor, he not probrem. Wang think sheriff on rever as werr, sherrif prove serf with action. So rike Wang say before, as rong as party stay off trair and move with stearth quest sharr be successfur. Worry about barter ratter. Party see professor first, before anyone erse arerted to presence. That safest option, That how Wang see it. Now rets get you camoufrage Fretcher.

Wang begins covering Fletcher on moss mud and foliage.

And remember be very quiet on way back. We do these things and arr wirr be fine and dandy.

Nod gestures broadly in the direction of town

"I agree with Wang about avoiding entanglements. I believe, however, that I will stick to my own devices for keeping out of sight. I'll pass on the camo. I am out of water. If we pass a source, I'd like to stop and refill my skin. Well, without further ado, I suggest we press for town."

Nod heads off in the direction of town.
