Back in the US 1500 hrs

In reply to Melissa Messervy (msg # 9):

"Winchester. Fairly common and you can buy it by the thousand for just a few hundred dollars."

Melissa shrugged her shoulders.

"Well, I had to ask", she said, "Night everyone".

With that she headed off to her room and tried to get some sleep as her body recovered/adjusted after the travelling.

"Do you have a copy of any files or intel?"

Not suffering from jet lag as the others appeared to be, Robert decided to head to the bar and find a nice quiet spot to go over any information Jack was able to provide.

Re: Back in the US 1900 hrs

A few much needed hours of sleep later (for about half the group anyway) and everyone gathered for dinner in Jacks room.
"So what's the plan? Are we going to try talking to Smith in his office, grab him off the street, sneak in after hours, or what?"
A look through the local phone book had shown many, many "Smith's" as would be expected of such a common name. There were only a handful of listings which possibly matched his initials ("J", "S", or "L" depending on which bit of intel you were looking at), none of which looked like law offices (all residential).

"Not personally, but wouldn't that thing be searchable online? Also, if he's an attorney, it's entirely possible that he works from home anyway", Melissa said as she ate some sharmwa that she'd ordered from a local delivery place.

She was mostly refreshed and looking forward to cracking on with this case.

"County court won't be open until tomorrow now anyway. Anyone got a map of this place? If not, I'll get one from reception and we can play logical deduction based on the addresses. Rich attorneys don't live in the drug dealing side of town".

"So how do we find him then?" Karl asked, pawing through the notes scattered around the table while dodging various take away food containers.
The couple of hours sleep had done him the world of good. His hangover had subsided and he could actually keep his eyes open without resorting to matchsticks to prop up the lids.

In reply to Karl Braende (msg # 19):

At that point, Melissa's phone buzzed. She pulled it out of her pocket and started to read a WhatsApp message. A secure messaging app was a great thing...

After reading it, she smiled.

"We've got a phone number on that fax sent to George McClan in Cuba. 207-915-0927. Now we can just reverse lookup that number and get an address, which will provide us a major clue..."

She wrote the number down on and placed it on the table before doing a quick search.

"207 area code is Maine... so we're in the right state at any rate".

Re: Back in the US 1900 hrs

"Let me see that!" Jack grabbed the note and tapped his laptop keyboard a few times. A couple of minutes later a huge smile was plastered on his face.
"Got it. Even better, the house was up for sale back in 2016 and they uploaded pictures and a walk through of almost the entire building!"
"Here, take a look!"

With a swipe of his hand he transferred the information to the television.

Re: Back in the US 1900 hrs

Jack tapped away a bit longer.
"Looks like Smith was in a bit of trouble in 2016 with the American Bar Association which would explain why the house was up for sale. Didn't actually change hands though so he must have found some money from somewhere to pay his legal bills."
He searched a bit longer.
"Smith is a former corporate lawyer who got caught doing something illegal in 2015 and got himself disbarred in 2016. I can't see what he did though, the file's sealed by the court."
"Looks like he wrote an article on corporate greed and corruption which was published in the ABA newsletter in 2005."

He grinned, hangover forgotten. "I say we head straight downstairs and hit the bar."

Melissa raised a hand.

"If we're going to make a recce of the place on the grounds that we're looking for a property, that might wait until tomorrow. People don't check out houses in the evening. That said, there's nothing wrong with a quick drive by".

She looked at her phone.

"I'll stay here in case there's anything more come in from HQ".

"Why not use your phone?  We can conference everyone in and you can pretend to listen to music with some earbuds. I think it might better be better idea to drop you off about a kilo out, in case they have lookouts. We can follow you about a couple of blocks back in case you need help.", Michael offered.

"Besides, you need to sweat out all that alcohol you drank in Cuba."

Jack printed off two pages, one map of the route between their accommodations and the target area and the other a much more detailed map showing the streets for few blocks around the house.
"Might be worth quickly dropping in to this shop I found to pick up any running gear you need. Should be still open for another hour or two."
He flicked the shops website over to the television.

"Just had a thought, guys.   If Smith is still on guard from his kidnapping, having a short-haired military type badass running by the house might set him off.  What if we sent Melissa>  Dress her up like a housewife in some yoga pants and a hoodie. Give her a Starbucks and let her powerwalk the neighborhood?  She could stay on the phone the whole time and not even get a second look."

"It's cold outside. Nothing wrong with running with a hood or other cover, and I don't see too many military haircuts amongst us at the moment."
Antonio was nearly completely bald, Jack's hair was down to his shoulders, Michael looked like he hadn't shaved in over a week, Eric was bald and had a month's beard growth, and Robert looked about as "average white collar" as you could get. Karl himself was getting towards a desperate need of a trim.
