He was near panic nowi didnt do anything. why would i be a suspect?!
As far as I know just me Banny and Katrina. Look I know that looks bad. But I didn't keep the books wouldn't know how to. Don't even know where he stashed the money. And wouldn't I have left instead of getting the sheriff?

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
Now that Talon had turned to the Bad Cop, Lan switches gears to draw out more information from Ibor. "But you do know where he kept the books, and to skin you had to know where Scarnetti physically kept the wealth Benny was taking from him, right? Did Benny and Katrina have anyplace other than the Mill that they frequently visited together?"

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
Almost shaking the lumbermill foreman said he had the books hed show Scarnetti in the office on the 3rd floor then I think he kept the real books in his room. Every day at noon Scarnetti would send a guy over to collect the days earnings. He took that back to his place across the river. Where Banny hid his money I don't know. I didnt want to. Just kept my.eyes closed and enjoyed the extra time off

Lan turns to Belor. "Sheriff, do we have time to go back and find these duplicate books? If we don't, Scarletti will come across them himself.

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
it doesnt take long for the Sheriff to to go and return with the both sets of books and after several moments of comparing, it could easily be seen that Banny was skimming large sums each day.

Talon placed a firm hand on the arm of the Shoanti, knowing well that emotions often overcame the large man. It was both his curse and his blessing, for it battle, the inner rage let Tanis terrific prowess, but Talon could tell now that it was all Tanis could do to keep himself from rampaging on this man.

"I was sincere when I said that I worry for your safety. Tanis here is able to control his anger and grief," the hand tightened on the Shoanti's arm, "but others in the community - news is traveling quickly - may seek quick and mis-placed justice. It may well be for your own good, Thorn, that you allow the Sheriff to keep you in his custody. You've spoken truly to us thus far, we'll make sure that's not forgotten..."

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
Lan shakes his head at the turn of events. Had the killer known about the skimming? If so, then Banny's death could be explained by the fact of the Skinsaw Cult's desire to punish the greedy. If they could but identify one member of the cult... "Gentlemen, shall  we be off? I think I want to examine the site of the other deaths before interviewing the asylum patient. I'm starting to form a hypothesis."

In the books, Lan tries to figure out where the skimming was primarily done (most likely from imports of materials and phony invoices).

Stalking from the room ax in hand the big warrior can be heard muttering under his breath. I need to kill some thing.

Zenfira shook her head, still pressed tightly to Params chest.  "...no...you don't understand.  The note.  They left a note...addressed to me.  It's...I don't know what but they killed those two to get this message to me.  If I..If I wasn't...then they..."  Her words fragmented as Zen broke into sobs once more.

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
Lan can tell that the skimming was from the price paid for raw materials not as much was paid as the primary books showed.

the party headed out of the Sherrifs and towards the stable.

In reply to Zenfira Cazal (msg # 130):

Param could feel her still clinging to him in the midst of her despair and this news was grave but he still didn't know enough... "Zen, I'm so sorry." He knew she needed some comfort in this moment, but he didn't want her to wallow in this sadness. If he was right, someone was messing with all of their heads, "But what did the note say? I think this has something to do with that business with the goblins, but this note may help us find these killers before they strike again."

Allura followed Lan wondering if this whole thing was meant as a message to them, to their group. She hoped not but it still nagged at her. It was just so horrible.

They were all thinking the same thing, that this was some how all connected, the goblins, the wells, and now the ghouls. but unlike everyone else all the mounting pressure did to the big warrior was to make him even angrier. The Shoanti headed to the Inn to gather his gear with fingers white knuckling the haft of his ax.

As Param read the note, he looked dumbfounded. "Why... Who... What? This note is for you? Did I miss something back in the goblin hovel that we destroyed?"

"You see!"  Zenfira said forcefully.  "Those kids were killed.  Murdered.  Cut up like...like...all to deliver that sick note to me!  That's not Goblins.  That's..."

Zen clutched at Params tunic, once more burying her face in his chest.  "...it's my fault..."

Param was stupefied, but knew she needed his support now more than ever, "Zenfira, who or what do you think wrote this to you? Is the her that poor misguided fool we had to put down in the basement of that fortress? Has the demon turned his attention to you?"

He paused and then said, "You can't blame yourself. It's not as though you wanted this attention, this horror. You haven't set out courting such a beau. At least I hadn't noticed you doing so."

At the stables, Lan saddles up his Nirmathian steed. After checking his equipment and loading some feed for travel, he awaits the other riders. He hoped the other crime scene could still yield clues.

The big warrior walks up to the front of the Inn as Zen and Param are hugging, try as he might the Shoanti can't help the feelings of jealousy and rage he feels surging inside of him. With out a word Tanis walks past them into the Inn gathers his gear and then leaves, With pain filled eyes he glares at Param as he leaves. Saying, If you to are through we have places to be.

Tanis goes to the stable and quickly saddles both his and Zens mounts, in silence.

In reply to Tanis Riverwind (msg # 140):

The big man was hard to ignore but his tone revealed all Param needed to know. Tanis had feelings for Zen and Param has just trod all over those, though with nothing but the best of intentions. He waited until Tanis was out of earshot before saying, "I think it might be best not to mention this note to Tanis. He might not be thnking clearly."

Re: The Skinsaw Murders: Murder Most Foul
With the arrival of the rest of the group, Zenfira released Param and quickly wiped at her eyes.  She could not meet Tanis' gaze.  Just the thought that the children of his friend had been killed to get their attention was still very much a tender spot, and one liable to cause her to break into tears again.  Excusing herself, she went into the Inn to prepare.

She was among the last to arrive at the stables.  A great deal of her preparation had been in prayer to Cayden Cailean, stealing herself for the coming journey and what may lay at their destination.  It was a stoic faced Zenfira who strapped her saddle bags to her horse.

In reply to Zenfira Cazal (msg # 142):

As they parted, Param said, "Zenfira, we can talk again on the road. I must ready my armor and gear for travel. I will be by your side. We will catch this foul man, demon or whatever it is..."

He moved purposefully to his room, gathered his kit and donned his armor. His scimitar sat on his hip while the Bastard sword he now carried was strapped to his back along with his shield.

He then went to the stables and readied his magnificent steed. He had grown quite fond of the horse over the past few weeks and had taken to riding much more than hed expected.

"What did you learn of the other murder?" He asked hoping big someone would catch him up.
