Ion Storm - The Company

Lazlo Based Mercenary Company

Founding Members: Jessica, Tibor, Vrryl, Mika, and Daniel
Head of Daily Operations: Formerly Mika, currently Cathy
Size and Orientation: Small Company (20-40 personnel)

Location:
     The company headquarters is located on the northwestern edge of the city of Lazlo within the Free State of Lazlo.  This places it proximal to the many varying races that call D-Bee Town (western Lazlo) their own, as well as some of the mercenary and weapon-merchant areas of North End.  As much of the North End is more impoverished, it was also a cheaper area to purchase a large plot.  It also happens to be near one of the ley lines radiating from the 3-ley line-nexus at Tower of Higher Learning in the Downtown Core.

Relationship with Lazlo:
     All eligible company members are required to sign up for the Volunteer Militia and as such are expected to assist in times of crisis (evacuate residents, halt destruction if possible, etc.).  In exchange for this, the city provides E-clip recharging (and PPE-clip charging) as well as a 25% rebate on property tax and utilities (electricity, TW-PPE, water, and sewer).  In special circumstances, the group can also get permission to bring larger weaponry into the city (beyond the normally-allowed body armor, MD sidearm, and melee weapons).
     In exchange for enhanced TW-PPE service and TW-defenses for the building (including future options after the fall of Tolkeen), the company also provides patrols of the surrounding areas outside the city in cooperation with the nearby Checkpoint Towers.  Furthermore, in exchange for their doctors operating a local medical and veterinary clinic, Lazlo provides funding for the clinic and the clinic has direct teleportation access to the Lazlo Medical Center.

Note: much of the special equipment is accounted for by the player characters' own possessions

A) Sponsor: Secret (Vrryl secretly sponsors the company)
B) Outfits: Open Wardrobe
          -Basic uniform with light MDC armor (40MDC), complete wardrobe available.  Officers have heavier types.
C) Equipment: Electronic and Good Gear
          -One cybernetic implant available to all members, good quality gear issued, vast array of electronic goods
          available for use, each soldier has up to 25,000 credits worth of gear (always includes communications gear).
                    Medical Clinic
          -Full medical clinic in a separate building that includes 1 full-time M.D., 1 full-time psychic healer, 4 nurses,
          and 2 paramedics.  Emergency medical fund of 1D4+2 million credits for cybernetics and hospitalization.
          Small veterinary facilities for combat, riding, or work animals.  Replacement of damaged equipment is automatic.
D) Vehicles: Combat Cars
          -Fleet of trucks, trailers, motor-homes, and light APC’s all outfitted for combat.  70% have MD armor and light
          to medium weaponry (mg’s, mini-missiles, beam weapons).  10% are heavy combat vehicles like tanks,
          10% are aerial combat vehicles. 20% of vehicles use techno-wizardry. 500,000 credit travel expense account.
E) Weaponry: Advanced Weaponry
          -Standard issue Energy rifle (Wilk’s 457), standard issue Energy pistol (Wilks 227).  20% have heavy weapons
          (either railguns or TX-45 PBC).  All troops issued grenades.  20% of group has power armor, and one
          robot vehicle or tank for every 10 line soldiers.  All weapons of good quality and are repaired, recharged or
          replaced immediately (20 million credit budget).
F) Communications: Secured Service
          -2 long-range radios, all personnel have walkie-talkies or short-range radios, all with scramblers.  Six language
          translators, 2 mini-radar systems, 1 PC-3000 pocket computer, and a portable video camera and player are
          also available.
G) Security: Iron Clad
          -Every entrance/exit under constant video monitoring and guarded by a security team, area around base is
          patrolled.  High quality locks/alarms in all vehicles/facilities, hidden compartments/safes,
          floodlights, emergency generators, motion detectors, heat sensors, mini-radar, magic alarm/ward defenses,
          supernatural/magic safeguards and defenses (including weapons), magic/psychically sensitive operatives.
H) Permanent Base: Fortified Headquarters
          -Our big warehouse base made of MDC materials.  This includes a barracks for all the troops (small company),
          shooting range, garage for vehicle and bot repair, storage buildings, commissary and arsenal.  Building(s) is(are)
          surrounding by wall or fence.
          -Base has internal and external plasma turrets for defense which psionic characters can operate via a helmet
          interface.  The defensive systems have psionic and magical safeguards to prevent hacking.
          -Techno-wizardry lab has PPE batteries set up in a storage system which can provide PPE for the TW-creation
          process.  Molding and circuitry-creating machinery are also present.
I) Intelligence: Special Military Operatives
          -Team of trained spies such as Special Forces, Commandos, Juicers, Crazies, Borgs, Bounty Hunters, RPAs,
          Spies, etc.  Host of special operation duties available to perform.
                    Psionic and Magic Operatives
          -Magicians, psychics, creatures of magic available... namely the PC’s and some others.

K) General Alignment: Unprincipled and Scrupulous
L) Criminal Activity: None
M) Reputation: Known
          -Known as effective and trustworthy, employers are reluctant to betray the company, and the company
          gets to charge about 20% more on rates.
N) Salary: Good
          -Full-time contracts (2-4 yrs) with soldiers, good room and board provided in addition to equipment access,
          medical plan, and death benefits plan.
          -Line Soldiers 400cr/wk
          -NCOs 500-550cr/wk
          -Mid-level officers 600-700cr/wk (700)
          -Special Ops, High Officers 800-1500cr/wk (1000)
          -Bonus of 1D4x1000cr every quarter that company is under contract.
          -Hazardous Duty bonus of 1D4x100cr/month for soldiers.
